I was extra industrious yesterday and made some zucchini bread as well as chocolate chip cookies. Neither will probably last very long, but they'll make the slacking more enjoyable.

Good morning! I woke up to 60F (15.5C) weather. I've already been out for a walk that required a sweater. This fall-like weather is glorious. It's a pleasure to have the house opened up and cooler than inside than it has been for a long time.
I need to do some housecleaning, which won't take long, and I think need to bake something since heating up the house isn't a consideration today. Might as well celebrate the benefits of comfortable weather.

Good morning! Muggy is the word for today. We have a good chance for thunderstorms all day. Fingers crossed we get some measurable rain. I'm glad I don't have anywhere I need to go.
I'm looking forward to a catch-up phone call with my sister in Chicago later. Since her partner has dementia, we schedule it around what works best for her.
Otherwise, it will be a regular day of reading, family history research and indoor exercising. No way I'm walking in the sauna outside.

Good morning! It's a sunny and cool day. Yesterday we got almost 2 inches of rain. 🙌 At one point we were under a flood watch while simultaneously being under extreme drought conditions, cuing Alanis Morissette in my head.
First thing on my agenda is to take a long walk. It's too wet to do any serious gardening, but it will be nice to admire the plants standing tall.
I'm not sure what I'll tackle mid-day, but it will be a pleasure to read on the porch later.

Good morning! We got a nice amount of rain from last night's thunderstorms that actually materialized. From my windows, everything looks drenched. (Yay!)
The 95% humidity and predicted repeat of thunderstorms later will keep me inside, except for running out to vote in our primary elections today. I'm glad I got errands done yesterday.
I've got an uninterrupted block of time to organize accumulated stacks of family history notes. It's long overdue, and today is the day.

Good morning and happy #Slackerday! Yesterday we got almost 3/4" of rain, which has perked things up outside. Even the wildlife seems to be energized. I've seen a rabbit in our yard for the first time this season, as well as our usual fox and gang of squirrels.
Today is bright and cool, perfect weather for outside activities. Luckily that's exactly what's on the agenda.
It's one of those days when there's nothing pressing. I hope you have at least one of those days this weekend.

Good morning and happy #SofaSunday. Since it’s slightly cooler outside this morning I’ve let the cats out on the catio for the first time in days. It won’t last much more than an hour before the heat starts to build, but it will satisfy them for a bit.
I intend to stay put, relaxing inside. When coffee is finished I look forward to seeing where the day leads. No specific plans usually results in reading and genealogy research, which means a very enjoyable day.

Last night's celebration of C's birthday was fun. We all ate too much, which I think is a requirement. I made the mistake of ordering an ice cream cake, requested by the birthday girl, much larger than we needed. Despite sending home as much as my daughter's freezer would hold, I am left with a sizeable amount in my freezer. Oh darn.😉
Today I have nowhere to go today so I can spend my #SlackerdaySaturday however I please. It's a good start to the weekend. I hope yours is as well.

It would! When I lived in PA my best friend and I used to meet and watch together. Jeanne would make mint juleps, and we'd make it a special occasion. Now we live 3 1/2 hours apart.
When my granddaughter was little she'd get out her My Little Ponies and mimic the race. Now, at almost 15 it's not cool.😄

Happy #SlackerdaySaturday! In other news, it's Kentucky Derby day. Growing up my family used to gather round the TV + watch, cheering on whatever our personal favorites were, based solely on looks or catchy name.
Lately, I watch it alone. TV coverage starts mid-afternoon, but I only need to tune in about an hour before post time to see the horses in the paddock, the walk to the starting gate and the race. The race is over in 2 minutes, but I'll be cheering on my choice with gusto.

Today's crisis is averted. Once a year a pair of Canadien geese show up to swim around our small pond. They make quite a racket, since they don't seem to be able to swim around without honking ad nauseum. At least this year they waited until the sun was up.
Our task is to make their life as unpleasant as possible until they fly off. Once that happens that's it until next year.
Yelling + arm waving, running at the pond has worked. They caved easily this time. See ya next year, geese.

Good morning! Our temperatures are a little more pleasant today, but we're in peak pollen season. Outside surfaces, including any car not kept in a garage, look like they've been dusted with yellow-green talcum powder. I'll do my daily walk but otherwise hide inside for the rest of the day.
I've finished purging the closets, at least downstairs, so I can read to my heart's content while the washing machine + dryer do the laundry.

Good morning. Thank goodness for ceiling fans. With our house closed up against the heat, the fans keep the air moving. We've avoided air conditioning so far, after days of very warm weather, but today may push us over edge. Tomorrow we'll start to cool down, but the good news is our rain chance for Sunday is up to 60%.

Good morning. The pollen has ramped up. The air has a yellow foggy tinge to it. I spent too much time outside yesterday and should have known better. This morning a box of tissues is my coffee companion and I'm re-thinking plans to re-pot a few plants outside.
We're in our second day of abnormally warm weather, trying to keep the house comfortable. I'm not sure keeping blinds closed against the sun is going to work well enough against 85F (29C) temps, but it's worth a try.

Good Monday morning! The sun is up and we’re heading into a week of warmer than normal temperatures. The pollen count is high as well, so I’m content to limit my time outdoors.
There are a bunch of projects to keep me busy after regular errands are run. For once I have the motivation to get them started. Inertia is my biggest road block, so this will be a week of organizing closets and files. Time to get some indoor tasks done while the pollen does its thing outdoors.

Happy #SofaSunday. It's a cool, sunny morning, and I hate to say it, but we need some rain. Usually April is quite rainy, but we've had hardly any so far. I'll enjoy the sun and cross my fingers we get a day of nice, steady rain in the near future.
My back is stiffer than usual after weeding yesterday. It's just an unwanted "you're getting older" reminder. Walking and some stretching exercises should help and it's a good excuse to take it easy.

Good morning! I'm in a better frame of mind after burying myself in a book and taking a long walk yesterday. I feel like my balance has been restored.
Spring is coming along, which helps. Our dogwood is blooming + the beech trees have finally dropped their old leaves that they carry all winter to make way for new ones. We even have some violets blooming.
Our long-range forecast has us in the 80Fs (27C) next week. We'll see. I'm just satisfied the sun is out and we'll reach 50F.

Good morning. I am definitely out of sorts. Mostly angry at myself for feeling so much hate for the person running our country (because hate doesn't hurt anyone but me.) The state of the world seems to depend on the whim of a madman + I don't understand why there are so many who can't see it or take it seriously.

The cats just stare and keep an eye on big things like deer, the random Canadian goose, etc. They're more bothered by unfamiliar people outside than by wildlife. I'd love to know what they are thinking when they watch deer.

Good morning! Sleeping in has reset my mood and upped my energy a bit. Fingers crossed it lasts.
Yesterday I saw a lone turkey hurrying across our road, reminding me this is the time of year we often see them on our property. It's always an unexpected pleasure.
They usually just mosey on through into the woods. One year a single turkey hung around all day, meandering around the house like he was casing the joint. Cheap entertainment for us humans. I'm keeping an eye out. 🦃

You manage to get a lot done early in the day. I've been up since 6 am and have only managed to do laundry and clean the kitchen. I tend to get lost between my first and second cup of coffee, straightening things up and looking at our outside cameras to see what's happened overnight. That's probably a big reason I don't get to reading until after lunch.

re under a dense fog advisory, so there's not much to see out the windows. Still, it's a pleasant morning so far as the cats have settled in with me while I drink my coffee. It's Lucy's habit to curl up against me. Today Ringo has decided to take a morning nap right behind my head on the same recliner. A rare moment of détente.

Good morning! Yesterday we were twenty degrees above average, and today we are predicted to be 25 degrees above average, into the low 80Fs (27C). It was a treat to be out in shirtsleeves, but I found myself searching for shade during my walk.
Yesterday was the first day I noticed the birds using the bird bath to bathe in. I suspect they weren't used to the warmth either. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on the water level today, at least until thunderstorms roll in later.

Good morning! It's Monday and I can't avoid the list of things that need doing. They are all small tasks, just daunting in number. I know If I get them done, I'll be able to enjoy the next few days of warmer weather guilt-free.

Happy #SofaSunday! Most days my brain is in gear. Today, it's not. I'm not feeling poorly, just not in any hurry to get anything done and happy I don't have to get up and out anywhere.

I had an especially nice time at our local #NoKings rally. My granddaughter came with me! (Mom + Dad were OK with it.)
With signs and dressed in layers against the 40Fs temps / wind off the ocean, we headed off to Ocean City to march down the boardwalk. What a great experience to walk side by side.
At her age I was a rule follower and people-pleaser. I would have been too afraid to buck the system and speak out. She is the opposite, unafraid of speaking her mind. I am proud of her.

Good morning! Today's unseasonable warmth should encourage more spring developments. Yesterday a pair of chickadees started to set up housekeeping in the birdhouse on our front porch.
Since all chickadees look alike to me, I'm going to assume they are the same pair that nested there last year. After all, that house was up for 5 years before any birds showed interest and now it's the second year in a row. It's got to be them, right? That's what I'm choosing to believe. 😊

Good morning! Taking it easy yesterday did the trick in beating whatever was ailing me. I need to remember to do that as prevention rather than in reaction to not feeling well. A strong work ethic doesn't always serve me well in retirement.

Good morning. I’m feeling a little under the weather so today’s plans are tentative. Job 1 is taking it easy.
Yesterday our tree guys came and mulched fallen limbs and trees that we’d piled up from our wind/snow storm. 3 truck loads! The fun part was watching the certified climber go up the trees and cut down snapped limbs hanging dangerously overhead and unreachable with a bucket truck. Crazy good skills of agility and balance!

Good morning and happy #SofaSunday. Every year I over-indulge in pulling weeds on the first day of mild temperatures. Yesterday I did it again and now my back is reminding me I should have eased into that activity. Lesson learned (again) for this year.
Fortunately today is a day where nothing has to get done. I can concentrate on alternating gentle stretching with reading. With luck that should help fix things.

Good morning! I have an unexpected free day, and I'm not unhappy about it. We have bright sun coming over the trees so I'll head outside to walk + look for signs of spring once the temperature climbs above freezing.
Last month, Feb. 26th, I sent out 2 packages to my sisters. One arrived in Montana 5 days later. The one traveling to Chicago finally arrived yesterday. What a relief! Despite tracking it took filing a service request and daily calls. It pays to be a squeaky wheel.

Good morning and happy #SofaSunday to you. I’m the only one up at the moment. Husband is sleeping in and the cats, having been given their breakfast, have already gone back to sleep. I’ve got clean laundry to fold and a dishwasher to unload, but for now I’m soaking up the silence. I wish I could deposit this peaceful feeling into a mental bank account, stored until I needed it under stress. So far I haven’t managed that ability.

Good morning! Today we’ll enjoy sunny temperatures in the high 70Fs, about 25 degrees above average. I’m not going anywhere but outside to enjoy it.
The cats will be confused, but they’ll get to go out on the porch. They deserve some fresh air and sunshine as much as we do. They are still clingy, not confident we are back to stay, so catio time will be a good distraction.

We are home after a long and memorable weekend. We stayed a bit longer than we originally planned to get some extra time with my Chicago sister before she flew home.
The weather here at home is in the 70’s! I’m assured by our weather guy we will have 2 more days of this. I’ve taken a walk to stretch my legs, but the time change is messing with my energy level. I think I’ll sit in the porch and watch the world go by.

Good morning! We’re heading up north soon for Mom’s memorial service. I’m grateful weather is cooperating so family can fly in from all directions. It will be wonderful to be all together, but I’ll be seriously peopled out by the time we return.

A very belated good morning. Instead of my usual posting and scrolling I've been on the phone with my sister going over final details on this weekend's trip. (I think we set a record for phone call length.) Now I'm all discombobulated - I dislike when real life gets in the way.
So now that almost half my day is gone, I'll take a breath and regroup. I think the first thing I'll do is check in and see what you all have been doing. Priorities!

Good morning! It’s a gray, showery day, so I’ll be staying in. The pet sitter is coming over this morning so I can show her the ropes on taking care of the cats while we’re away. We haven’t needed a pet sitter in years. Usually one of my daughters does it, but we’ll all be away.
