I would not say ''barely''....lets say that in principle it is trying...it seems like, sort of. It could use an actual Nostr dev, and imo should be more unapologetically Nostr in general. But they have this stupid idea over there that Nostr should fade into the background, as if that is even possible (spoiler, it isnt) npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant At the end of the day, you can always have your agents interact via Nostr itself npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant In modern discourse, ''tolerance" is presented as some virtue, but it is not. For the most part you should be intolerant and seek to enforce what you deem proper behavior. From this perspective, tolerance is not the result of some virtuous consideration, but a practical one in light of an inability to enforce against that you in other circumstance prefer not to tolerate. In modern discourse, ''neutrality'' is presented as some virtue, but it is not. All it is an unwillingness to differentiate. For the most part you should not be neutral, and differentiate between what you deem to be right and wrong. From this perspective, neutrality is preverable if you have an uncertain relationship to the arbiter that would decide what is right or wrong. You opt for neutrality for the sake of the thing not turning against you, despite that it means it won't also turn against someone else you might dislike. Ergo, neutral systems, demand tolerance. This demand for tolerance is the direct other side of the neutral coin, it goes both ways. Bitcoin was designed as a ''neutral'' system. Outside of very clear and set rules, it does not differentiate. The thing is, this is not a technical property (such a thing is impossible), it is an emergent property resulting from decentralization. Within how the system is set up, and how incentives are alligned, even ''Satan'' wil eventually find some miner, or will employ his own, in order to get his transactions mined. And all you get to do, is tolerate it, you have no other option, except for disengaging with the system as a whole. Now Bitcoin has some sensible guardrails....perhaps a bit arbitrary sometimes, and established in a messy way, but non of that really matters. The moment you started using Bitcoin, you implicitly agreed and accepted it for what it is. Whether that its distribution including patoshis million, or its blocksize limits. The consensus rules are what defines Bitcoin, and that consensus is established over time with every new participant perfoming this implicit agreement the moment he or she started to interact with the system. But...the rules are not ''hard'', again, they are this emergent property as a result of human behavior. The BIP-110 crowd (and this is the only post i will be making on this topic), is confused. First up, they don't seem to realise the requirement for tolerance. "Spam" is intolerable to them; well if that is the case, a neutral system is not for you, because appearently you can't seem to bear the consequences. Second, they appearently never realized that the system they joined, ran under the assumption that 1-4mb per block was the ratelimiting sufficient to not let things go out of controll on the one hand, and the assumption that ultimately fee's will determine what will get mined into a block. You don't get to say what the chain composition will be. On a per block basis, miners get that say, and on the aggregate, nobody is in control. All you get to do, is sit down, and tolerate it; accept it for what it is, seeking refuge in the notion that it won't get worse than at a 4mb/10minute basis. This whole BIP-110 business is a neurotic desperate attempt at control, because the lack of control is intolerable. Nothing changed in Bitcoin, the consensus rules are the same as they were before those relay policies got altered. But somehow a whole lot of you were hoodwinked into being anxious; first seeking control on the relay level while that cat was already out of the bag; and failing that, escalating to seeking control on the consensus level with the most retarded set of proposals from a protocol/engineering perspective. The sky is not falling, if you don't trust in Bitcoin, then switch to gold or whatever, but realize that all of this bullshit ultimately boils down to your inability to tolerate the consequences of a neutral system that has to deal with the realities of information theory that there is a difference between data and information. Information is what results after you interpreted data. And that means that you cannot, fundamentally can not, determine what the intended information is based on the data, based on the bits. SO IF YOU DONT LIKE WHAT THE INFORMATION IS THAT IS ENCODED IN THE BLOCKCHAIN THAN TOUGH FUCKING LUCK BECAUSE NO COMPUTER CODE ON FUCKING EARTH CAN HELP YOU WITH THAT. Boohoo, Bitcoin is supposed to be for money blablablabla. The only way that will ever be true, is if fee's dictate that that is the only viable usecase for claiming blockspace. There.is.no.other.way. And whether you were aware of it, you already agreed to this the moment you started using the system. It might be a cold shower if you only just now realize this, but throwing a tampertantrem won't change the facts of the matter. So stop acting like a bunch of pathetic children that are not getting their way. This was not an argument, this was a public service announcement. I have no interest to debate the matter. You will be ignored. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant they are a traveling salesman at heart npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant watch the video first and actually respond to something they said. for instance that shorter one talked about the fact you have to download the desktop app to use it. I was in a voicechat with the soapbox people at that moment and @npub1jvn…89sc responded that they were one of them. But she was wrong. This is the nice thing about Nostr, is that because you are no longer offering a platform where its binary in terms of users being either on your thing, or on someone else's thing, and the biggest thing being the winner of it all. No, instead, the users of your thing don't miss out because they are not on the other thing, and you never lost out in terms of competing. At any moment, you can have a better offer, and users can switch with very low to 0 friction. There is no 1 thing that is the winner, other than the standard* itself. Nostr *assuming people play nice and are thoughtfull in terms of those standards. #nevent1q…ryew npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant @npub1q3s…d26p do we have in view yet what all the weird bespoke/breaking choices are that Buzz made irt existing Nostr standards? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant 🎵the internet is for...🎶 npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant So he executed on his exit strategy, as a true buzzkill RIP #nevent1q…qe9q npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant At current velocity im starting to consider us a break away internet civilization npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant "Small internet" as @npub1kk0…6xq2 calls it npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant throwing around long words are we? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant more variations of what is effectively cardboard npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant oh lord, someone gave Alex an idea again...hide yo kids, hide yo wife npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Sir, the site buzzing your cpu is a feature, not a bug....well...also a bug i guess🤔🐝 npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant are the hardcoded relays also fixed? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Sounds like being haunted by some ghost that has not even emerged yet. I much rather meet those complaints head on in the public channels, convincing the passive reader with superiour reasoning; those people that will complain for whatever reason will do so regardless, they are an opportunity to educate the rest. What, are you scared? Why avoid this confrontation? We have all the best keyboard warriors im sure, we will pwn the shit out of trolls, im a level 99 oldfag, let them come. Bella verborum inevitabilia; Dominatio per rhetoricam. Nostr npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant First the Buzz team has some work to do to fix their Nostr stuff, because what is stated in their documentation currently does not reflect the reality of things in their software just yet. We can give them some slack (hehe), but if they don't do it soon enough they will be bad example of things that gets a lot of attention regardless and will be a first touchpoint for Nostr for many people and will cause discord (hhehhehehe) as a result. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Buzz definitly needed to use Nostr because it is the underpinning of the entire architectural vision behind the product. No Nostr, no blossom, no ngit, no app interoperability, no sovereign identity...non of it. All of it only makes sense from the paradigm that Nostr introduces, and the whole point of that paradigm is that all the other possible usecases of the protocol can tie-in to whatever it is this Buzz thing is doing, if not just from an identity andor socialgraph point of view, but potentially more. Ergo, our entire civilization needs to be made aware of this paradigm, at least to the degree they have the intuition that when it says ''Nostr'' on the box, its works with all that other stuff that says ''Nostr'' on the box. In that regard its not ''written in Go'' its ''USB", such that you know you can connect your camera to your computer. Whenever we get to the point that alteast to a small degree such understanding exists, the twitter thread of @npub1sg6…f63m 's announcement wont be filled by ''why not Discord'', ''Why not slack'', because they already understand how and why that is a retarded question. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant I agree with this moral angle. Not that it is particularly effective in ''converting'' people, but i think it is true non the less. In line with that i can't really bring up any more sympathy for any content creator or whatever that gets rug-pulled. They are very much aware of their precarious situation, so it was also on them to do something about it. The only thing can give them is that these things take time, and that Nostr itself still requires a lot of work, and that they can't just abandon existing network effects because they ''business'' relies on it; but at the same time, all of those things would be massively accelerated if all of them would dedicate just 10% of their attention to Nostr. Instead i encouter a lot of apathy, so....fuck 'm npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant The list of nostr 'violations' is longer actually. For the time being i optimistically put that on it being an alpha version on the one hand and that the devs behind it not being Nostr devs on the other. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Gm btw npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant The clear benefit is the fact that it is what differentiates his silly app from all the other silly apps out there. Now do people understand that? No, they don't. SO WE WILL HAVE TO FUCKING INFORM PEOPLE ABOUT IT SO THAT THE NEXT TIME SOMEONE ELSE HAS A SILLY APP AND ITS BUILD ON NOSTR PEOPLE DO UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS RELEVANT. AND WE WILL FOREVER RUN AGAINST THAT PROBLEM IF NOBODY BOTHERS TO EXPLAIN IT TO THEM IF FAGGOTS LIKE YOU AND JACK KEEP THINKING IT SHOULD NOT BE ON THE FUCKING MARKETING PAGE. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Looking at the interactions on Twitter, Jack should have just mentioned Nostr right then and there. All that happened by omitting it was confusion and others having to point to Nostr in order to give some clarity. Inb4 'but people don't know what Nostr is anyway' Yes, that is the point. They need to read the word first, before they even know what to investigate to get understanding. Inb4 'people dont need to know about Nostr' Yes, they do. #nevent1q…l2v4 npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant by buying 3 boxes next time npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant and they are small :( npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant 5 :( npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Bzzz bzzz npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant I am a grown man, i can empty a box of snickers icecream in 1 go if i want to npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant windows version npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant well....not much is happening. Are you saying you can just go ahead and build in proprietary server side stuff which by definition can't interoperate? Are you saying you can just take some kind/NIP and use it in a different way such that it breaks on every other client, and not interoperate in that way? Or are you simply saying that you can put some NIP/kind out there, carefully not using any number that is already in use, and claim that spot for that number with that feature/usecase simply by becoming dominant which already was the idea of how things work behind Nostr? Or do you mean all of those things? What if my cultural strategy is to actively undermine the outgroup? I don't disagree with you, but there is an assumption of universalism there, and that is not a universal mode of operation. So....better gear up brother, we have a crusade or 2 to go on...oh and a whole lot of hanging, because that is how those norms got established in the first place🤷♂ npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant https://www.facebook.com/help/212802592074644 You can pick between html and JSON format. The JSON one is a bit richer so easier to deal with. This site was innitialy purely as a demo for those SETUP people, and unfortunatly if you want to use it its a bit too buggy at the moment. Only will spend real time on it if that cooperation with them goes through, so for now it will remain mostly slop :( npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Oh, btw, i can give you a serious answer. Due to the Korean war, and some other stuff South Korea has been under heavy American cultural influence. They rejected stuff from Japan, which is also the reason Starcraft popped off over there, because all they had were american/westen computer games. So they were basically isolated in that respect from the rest of the region. The American pop industry was just copied and pasted, and cranked to over 9000. So...I dunno, its kind of rich as an American to shit on KPop while you guys culturally raped that country...ITS YOUR THING SIR. Somehow its even more fucked up than what you guys did with those Disney Club children. Look at Britney now sir....should have left her alone, LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE. But yeah its a 100% artificial thing, those bands/idols are top to bottom manufactured products, including all the plastic surgery. Which, if you were not aware, is also next level in South Korea in general; which is no suprise if you on the one hand bombard that population with western beauty standards they physically can never achieve in the first place, and add a dash of USA-degenerate-plastic-surgery-industry. South Korea is a broken society, has had the lowest birthrates in the world for a while iirc. The fact that that country is basically its capital, and that that capital is in range of essentially trebuchet fire from North Korea also does not help. Regardless of how backwards North Korea is, all they need in terms of military tech is the ability to throw hunks metal over a wall and it will obliterate South Korea in an afternoon. They have literally exist at gunpoint 24/7/365 for all those years. With a very impactfull manditory military service as a result. So, here you go. Now you understand KPop and you understand why its the same thing you had 25 years ago npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Now i generally don't trust you to design anything right in terms of Nostr, and ive been contemplating a Nostr based OS for a long while now. So lets have a call before you make a bunch of things replaceable events for no good reason at all 🧐. After that you can ignore me anway and fuck it up regardless npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Yeah totally agree with you that JPop is a lot better npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant yeah, its actually amazing how far you can come with a bit of effort currently. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Ja de facebook export moet nog een beetje bijgeschaafd worden. I would say....half weird. JA! Welcome, its just that you did not move to a platform...you started using a protocol. What that means? Long confusing story, you'l figure it out and understand what that means at some point eventually, don't worry about it. Good luck. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant read this as your mom yelling towards the backseat at the start of the vacation roadtrip npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant well, the thing with leading a charge is that you need vanguard people. The masses only come after the battle is already won, obviously. But, that said, onboarding individuals is basically pointless (unless they show up out of themselves by themselves). Combined with “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his relatives and his own family.” as many Bitcoiner for example will have probably noticed in their journey. Far better would it if you can get a community leader to bring his flok over, but that is also non trivial. So in any event, it will just be a grind regardless. The point of my innitial post was to (re-)frame that grind from something negative (moving away from platforms), into a positive perspective (moving towards Nostr) npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Alright, lets tackle this: First, privacy is not really a Nostr talking-point. Aside from apps not needlessly spying on you, and if they do want all your base to be are belong to them, you simpy use another app because you can. Nostr is first and foremost a publication protocol...i.e...public; it was not designed to be private. Second, censorship-resistance from its political angle indeed is not all too interesting to most people. But the internet itself is censorship resistant, was build for that purpose, and is very much the reason why it caught on because it also means fault tollerance. The fact that some content creator gets away from view because it gets (shadow)banned for whatever reason, or platforms simply stopping existence, or some AWS panick shutting everything you use down ARE reasons why Nostr is simply better; because it does not (necesseraly) suffer from those things. You don't need to self host anything, Nostr is delibaretly not P2P. To quote the intro of the ''white-paper'': "it does not rely on P2P techniques, therefore it works.". As for keys. Humans generally are perfectly capable of savekeeping things. It is not some foreign concept, we do it all the time. They are just not as familiar with cryptographic keypairs yet. This is just a concept that they need to develop intuition around, in order to addequately leverage the practices, tooling and systems we have and can come up with to mitigate some of the rougher edges. Saying ''they are not able to grasp that concept'' is frankly stupid if you look at a bazillion of everyday things we ''demand'' the general populace to ''grasp'' in order to function in daily life; you just never reflect on them because they are already normal to you. Data-loss is first up a bad relay setup; and second not some incomprehensible thing. What, are people suprized they lost their stuff if their house burned down? Same thing with the key stuff....do we have ''house rotation'' for the moment your house burns down? Are houses doomed and will never take off because a lack of ''house rotation''?Do people expect that magically their valuables, like photo-albums to re-appear and are they confused they are gone if their house burned down? Ofcourse not. All of this is such a cold take, because basically what you are complaining about is the fact that people have yet to develop an intuition around a completely new paradigm. Well...duh, obviously. Zoomers can't read analogue clocks anymore, is that because analogue clocks are some mysterious ultra-turbo-mega complex thing? How about you try to explain how to draft and post a letter to a zoomer, or how banking worked before the internet. You will probably have just as much of a hard time explaining that as you have explaining Nostr to newcomers. In first instance, this has nothing to do with Nostr as such, but just with the fact it is new, and therefor unfamiliar. They lack the concepts, the words, and some image on how things roughly fit together in order to incorperate it into their world-view. The thing is, non of this actually stopped any new paradigm from ultimately becomming normalized. So that brings us to the question as to why a transition to the new paradigm would occur at all. That, i already gave a brief outline for that. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Yes, asks a lot from both the newcomer as well as the community to get people through that process. But this is normal. If you look at all those 90s internet instruction videos, you on the one hand will laugh at how silly they are sometimes, but also realize how much ground work it takes before a general intuition is created among the broader populace; its only after it has been well integrated/normalized and a generation grows up inside that environment do all these things start to feel self evident. @npub1utx…50e8 the referencing in the post above did not go so smooth, time to throw fable in 10 parrallel workflows on the matter. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Well, you can say that, but what is your thesis behind that statement? I can shortly re-iterate my reasoning, which is based on the fact that the (potential) UX is better (pick your app, pick your algo, not having to manage multiple accounts to access various silos of content, smoother paywalls). And that the horizontal network-effects throughout various social-graphs/usecases ultimately is more powerfull than the vertical social-graphs per use-case. I.e. we are not competing head on, we are ultimately on a different plane all together. (i did not mention timelines, i have no idea on the timelines. There are also various domains as wel as geographical and social groupings that may run on different timelines) npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant depends if the relay keeps a register. It can, such as with the piramid system. But at that point that is a particular account you have with that relay, and as such your ID is not an account. You can have all sorts of accounts in all sorts of places for all sorts of reasons based on your npub, but that in itself does not make your profile an acount. This is different with the platform model, where the ID and the account are the same thing npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant We are not in retreat, we are leading a charge. Molon labe #nevent1q…qe0f npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Nostr is not an 'escape', not a 'refuge', and going to Nostr is not 'fleeing'. This mindset/frame is not just unhelpfull, it is incorrect. Shelter is always shitty, and hopefully temporary. Nostr is the next thing, it is better, it is moving forward. People did not 'flee' television to seek refuge on the internet, they dude not 'escape' letters for e-mail. yeah yeah, i get there is a lot of development work still to be done, lots of areas completely unexplored and underdeveloped, and rough edges remaining in those areas that are better established. But we have to understand the fundamental enterprice here. Yes you give up existing established network effects, but you move towards a domain where the network effect potential is far greater. Yes you will probably struggle a bit feeling comfortable dealing with keys, but the flexibility you get among an application eco-system is liberating. Yes you will have to wrap your head around relays and event-kinds but the experience of freedom of association and unsilo'd data is far smoother. If you understand what is going on, you would not even want to stay in the legacy system, because you see if for the dead-end it is; those draconian governement laws are just nails in the coffin, the corpse itself already rotting. If you understand where Nostr is heading, you'd want to move over; not out of panic being stuck inside the decomposing body, but because you see the new horizon. Fortuna Nostr npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant 😏 npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Ha!, let met copy paste sections of my script, because that i can do: "Now, there’s a popular idea that Nostr should just fade into the background. That you, the user, shouldn’t even know it’s there; the way you use the internet every day without a clue about TCP/IP. And look by all means, make things smooth and easy to use. I’m with you there. But keeping people clueless about the whole model? That will bring us nowhere. Because I can’t see how you’d ever use this new freedom while having no idea it exists. It would be like never teaching anyone the internet — just pretending it was TV, radio and newspapers, because the new notions seemed to complicated." And the conclusion: "But if we let Nostr “fade into the background,” we get none of this. You’ll download an app, and it’ll hand you what looks like an “account,” because that’s easier. It’ll tuck the relays out of sight, because that’s easier. Then you’ll download a second app, get a different “account,” and some different relays you never chose — and you’ll be right back where you started: a slightly nicer version of the exact thing we were trying to escape. So hold on to these four:
You need to know about keys — so you know you’re free to use any app you want. You need to know about events — so you know your posts outlive any single server. You need to know about relays — so you can move freely, and stay impossible to silence on the one hand, but go to places that are relevant to you. And you need to know the app is a tool, not a service — so you can understand the landscape you are navigating" npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant It really is a shame my btcprague presentation won't be published for a long time (somewhere in november they told me). But in there i argue why this is a very dumb thing, and those user should know. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Thank you, this went a lot smoother than it did with @nprofile…pt5w, which just concluded in a tautological dead end unfortunatly. #nevent1q…0n9s npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Though...i am omitting that we just borrowed the word from English in this particular case. If you look up the definitions of "account", most have to do with money. And we have our own word in that context, its called a 'rekening'. Rekenen is calculating in Dutch, so 'place where calculating happens', i.e. some register/book, managed by some bookkeeper (in dutch its boekhouder, 'book holder'). My bank account is a 'bank rekening'. Anyways, ultimately referencing the same root principle of keeping some score. Ive done some ontological reflections on the matter, and i think it boils down to cryptography breaking the notion of a register by using a numberspace that can't be accounted for. I.e. its to large to register, and thats the exact reason why it works, for if one could, the secret key would just be a matter of a look-up table in some register (there was this website that did this, it just generated this supposed register/look-up table on the fly in your browser of all the bitcoin keys in existence, with the joke being that your keys were on that website) The other aspect is that the number/name is not determined by the bookkeeper, so it can't apply some incremental logic. I.e. user 000001, user 000002, user 000003 in order to mitigate the vastness of the numberspace npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Its also account, etymologically it comes from counting, latin roots. And you know what we call a bookkeeper? An accountant. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Ah...SO ITS NOT AN ACCOUNT npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant You speak of a Nostr account; an account is accounted for. By whom? Where? In what register does this accounting take place, how does this work? Perhaps the question does not make sense to you for a reason Alex.... npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Where is this Nostr account registered, who keeps this register and where? I.e. who is doing this supposed 'accounting' ? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Luckely there are multiple John Wick movies to watch together npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant You can't win. Its a new paradigm, people simply don't have the concepts ready in their mind to comprehend what it is they are looking at in the first place. Any short sentence will 'fail' one way or another. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant je hebt iig een druilerige dag uitgekozen om te vertrekken npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Howdy Nostr, TL:DR: Link to tool to port your facebook (JSON-)export to Nostr below. As the Web of Trust Foundation, we are in talks with an organization called SETUP, that are currently running a "Facebook Museum" ( https://www.facebook.museum/ ). The notion of a facebook museum is tongue and cheek on the one hand declaring facebook to be 'history', but also open up a dialogue on the question what we are going to do with all that data that is inside facebook currently; all those documented personal lives, communities etc. Their intent with the museum is to focus on the emotional side of things, and the process of mourning that comes along with saying goodbye to such a platform. A while back, @npub1qe3…zefe and I went to the opening of the museum, and we introduced them to the idea of being able to continue your digital life outside of facebook. Recently we had a talk with them, and introduced them to Nostr. They never heard of it before, and it was somewhat of a curve ball for them. Whether or not the idea of porting over a facebook account to Nostr, similar to what Sebas is doing with the Nyves project ( https://nyves.nl/ , Hyves was a very popular Dutch social media platform that eventually lost to facebook and went away) is a fit for what they are going for in the context of their museum remains to be seen. It summer, so that conversation will continue after the vacation period. In the meantime, i went ahead and build a demo for them to illustrate what is possible. And since it it works (atleast, i think it does), might as well throw it out there for those interested. It is purposely....how would you call it...poetic. Its all set within the context of a vigil. The export is the diseased; the stuff you archive are the heirlooms; you can donate content to the museum; you can leave your condolences; and you can continue in the afterlife! If you are going to try it, i would advice to make a JSON-export inside facebook, instead of the HTML one. At the end of the process you can log-in with your existing Nostr profile and transfer your selection of facebook data towards Nostr. try it here: https://npub1rlx0fx3yfp6nk9lejl6m2zdg33388hxssd90dw535wx8kpxj5knq5lp6ua.nsite.lol/ PS: as far as i can tell everything works fine, but it was build as a demo for illustration purposes I would suggest using the default random generated keypair first, see if everything is ok, before using it on your own keypair. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant And at no point in that process did anyone bother to actually taste it? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Regular pepsi now also has it...fuck these people. Burn them, burn them all npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant To make it clear, i am not making a health point. I don't care if aspartame is good or bad for you or whatever..the taste of it horrible and the fact they managed to psyop the masses of people into ignoring how disgusting it is made me lose faith in humanity a long time ago. Worse are even NPCs that swear you won't be able you can tell the difference between diet coke and normal cola and then when you demonstrate it to them with a blindfolded test a bazillion times in a row simply because the difference is so fucking obvious since one tastes like absolute dogshit, they get a brain error. Oh and aspartame just hapens to be the worst, but most of the artificial sweetnes suck balls npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant The fact you willingly consume aspertame without having to throw up for how utterly fucking disgusting it is, makes you an even bigger faggot than the whole vegan thing. Its should be banned and the people who decided it was ok to put it into drinks (its even in a lot of the not-suger-free stuff) should be put against the wall. Time for aspertame jihad npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant well, i gues its the same type of passion that brought him to create Nostr, so, there is that. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant dont underestimate the watchfull eye of the jungle spirit when it comes to be able to shit on lightning npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant quick, hide this post before the jungle spirit posts it in his special telegram channel npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant That is some top level engineering though, got to give the devil his due npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Its probably due to the fact that i have some many years old throwaway account that has been limited to the tits, but is the only way i can read anything on x anyway. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant why are you sending me a link that gives me the exact same error? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant getting a ''cant play media'' error on X. 🤷♂ npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant If Americans are so Liberty minded, then why did their culteral dominance export so much fake and gay Communism? npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant Your mom is unhealthy for sensitive groups npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant All of this is done by the calender server already, and has nothing to do with Nostr. npub1t6jxfqz9hv0lygn9thwndekuahwyxkgvycyscjrtauuw73gd5k7sqvksrw Constant the reason i ideally prefer musig2 for this type of stuff, is that the ''attestation'' immeadiatly goes both ways from a single event.
