Folks in the Bitcoin space need to understand something, especially from us progressives.
The Trump presidency won’t last forever. GOP control won’t last forever (maybe end in 2026).
Access to Bitcoin, the industry, and civil liberties have a better chance if Bitcoin is pursued in a bipartisan way, including progressive outreach which is desperately needed to avoid a backlash.
I understand why many in the community saw the opportunity to get Donald Trump on board, say the right things, and back off the industry from a Biden attacks, etc. but Trump is one of the worst “champions” we could have for Bitcoin.
Constant grifts, memecoins, family and insider unethical business dealings all over the globe, etc. And I blame the democrats just as much for shutting down bitcoin advocates, the industry, etc, and forcing this attempted orange pilling of Trump.
Anyway, zoom out. Bitcoin is winning in so many ways! Let’s continue this work to cement it as a core American value, that is nonpartisan…and maybe not tied to grifters in chief 🤷🏼‍♂️

But the last several days my mom was in town visiting us/her granddaughter for the first time. We walked outside in the sun, went to the museum, plenty of cuddle and quality time.

I often find myself longing for the 90s and the childhood I had.
I forgot where I heard this, perhaps abundance from Ezra Klein, but this is the first time in history where generations in the U.S. are consistently looking back, longing for days past, rather than looking forward with hope and optimism.
The 90s were more affordable, more prosperous for everyone, less global conflict, less anxiety/depression, etc.
The one positive I feel, as our world shifts away from the world I once knew, is that local town centers and creators are starting to thrive in some places, and less malls dept stores, etc. That gives me hope. I’ll focus more on the local and my community, and less from this national and global chaos. It’s the only thing that keeps me sane.

I really do love nostr.
On other places, like Bluesky where I’m in my “left tribe” I’ll get blocked, muted, harassed if I don’t use the right terminology or I say something outside of orthodox.
Here, sure I’ll get some just revolting spam like comments. But for the most part people engage genuinely, even if we very much disagree.
As the community grows that ethos is important.

This article will be dropping today on Bitcoin Magazine.
I’m grateful that Bitcoin magazine and its editors publish a wide range of thoughts and opinions, including my own from a left vantage point and criticism of Trump.
I’ve worried sometimes that their editorial independence could be in jeopardy given Bailey’s financial and personal relationships with the Trump family. To his credit, he runs the org well allowing a full range of thought and opinion. I do often wonder if Trump knew the full extent of articles criticising him on BM if he would tap Bailey on the shoulder…hopefully that day doesn’t come and it remains truly independent.
