It just reminded me of the artist Tom Jennings (among many other things), and I figured you might enjoy this project of his: https://www.sensitiveresearch.com/Objects/GTNG/index.html npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I'm enjoying this thread with you and mleku. I missed you @npub1fjq…leku . I will always remember your generous transcription of my prayer paper. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Jello is a boomer npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Apologies to Dick Pick... I couldn't help myself. He is the absolute goat, microcoding directly on TTL *and fucking providing that as an option in the OS*. Sometimes my adolescent self/humor comes through... It was on a Corndalerian thread, though, so I get a pass, I figure. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy https://blossom.primal.net/a595e16ebd12fc254ad1219803bd9ef00acff485d9eda15ac1e7cc4eb551e5cb.png npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy This happened... there were... ummm.... externalities. Jello was/is brilliant, but I can't see him doing complexity analysis. But... yeah... it is society in general. I always enjoyed Aldous Huxley's interview with Mike Wallace *in 1958*. We all kind of vary as we slot into blue/red, etc., it is human nature (Tomasello [2]). From my perspective, though, it is about scale, complexity, and machines with a mind of their own... not just AI, but the whole beast we are part of. We like to take the comfortable parts, but dismiss the difficult parts. Anyway... Love Jello. And that Ice T song with the Black Sabbath sample was a great Jello addition to my meat kit. Ouroboros concept writing that doesn't match their spoken language, as spoken language is serialized, is how I see it, which is why I asked. It is surprisingly good. I've seen it pop up for a decade and thought, "Oh... no way. That looks stupid." I was turned on to it by my Bluesky feed where they compared human to Fermilab. https://blossom.primal.net/e29f1e52e2e4331911a4ee5068af0d58f2c8a1124b07d162eb5f5824016bf7b3.png npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I saw this pic, and two things crossed my mind. HODL's strange "this is my politics" meme, and then, WTF is that large plastic heart replica doing? This is getting really weird. A bit like Schulz's picnic bench. ( https://www.ted.com/talks/kathryn_schulz_on_being_wrong ) npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I added Journal and Data/Material flow attribute and relation tables, and messed around with CSS today. I'm trying to get my head around code limits. The idea is that code of, say 20 lines or less, forms core ideas that can be re-used. The main Journal ingest is 13 lines. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Dead Kennedys *and* Circle Jerks? You are connected. I remember way back you got my Dottie Danger reference. Well, if you ever feel like sharing, I'm interested in that. My all time favorite is Doc Dart of Crucifucks, but he is kind of insane and withdrawn, now. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Jerry Brown liked that song. Seriously. My favorite Jello collaboration of all time, though, was with Mojo Nixon: https://youtu.be/5acQqDx9ZFY npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy My own World Cup games are Arctic Sea Ice Extent (Area of ocean with at least 15% sea ice) 2012 vs. 2026. I figure you have seen it. Plus, heptapods! npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I'm minding my own business, documenting the ontology for my journal representation, and it turns out there are seven attributes and seven relations, and I so much want to embrace the seven. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy @nprofile…2ln2 I always wondered. Is this origin? https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/8evaim/who_was_jb55_and_why_was_his_grave_desecrated_a/ npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I have a hunch that creating an integrated complexity visualization kit vs. individual tools, was too much for i-Vis Research Lab. In their own paper, they reference the standalone expand-collapse tool, but still haven't released the unified version to NPM, nor gone beyond 1.0. Integrated=complex! npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy 641a npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Are you going to use Tauri? npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I always enjoyed the #FermisParadox focus in the intro to this film. It is eleven years old, now. I often refer to the wonderful Gary Snyder reading of For the Children. Current culture tends to toss entire works that overall hit the mark, but have minor flaws. http://www.crossofthemoment.com/ npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I saw this intro on a post by Owen McGrann: "A reminder for new subscribers who signed up thanks to “The Dead Economy Theory”—this isn’t primarily an AI or econ publication. There will be plenty of that, and if that’s what you’re interested in, you can select to receive only “are belong to us,” the vertical here that speaks to that." I laughed. Current culture/sub is almost all “are belong to us” verticals. We spend money and time filtering for attention to our verticals. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy The 46 lines of code I'm using are all native JavaScript supported by major browsers. I am not using any libraries for the interactive reader. I'm not cheating with the heptads, either. They are logically N-Quads plus a timestamp, public key, and signature. I assemble these into the journal. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I had a paper journal from 1985 until 1987. Some was lost. Some I burned. I kept a journal for awhile on a Tandy CoCo running OS-9. That, too, is gone. I deleted a few entries since 1990, but for the most part, everything I've written since then is saved in electronic form. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I was able to turn 11299 heptads into a fully functioning interactive journal reader in 46 lines of code. Next up, I'll publish the journal and code and create a video presentation. This year is the 40th anniversary of the two visions/meditations that started this journey ( which is in my journal). npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Hit Stevie Nicks' *Sometimes It's a Bitch* and jumped my motorcycle through the air right on to the front of Meat Loaf's *Bat Out of Hell* album. If alters were different music tastes, I'd be locked up. What a strange and wonderful album, no? npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Chemistry? I've only dropped one class in my life because the first day scared me. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy It surprises me how many Nostr dev folks have Microsoft accounts via GitHub. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I woke up and had the urge to strip out graphologyjs, and process heptads in memory for page rendering on the client app as needed. Alternating between proper graph databases, though, has helped my data model/schema. If Charles Peirce had a computer/JS, it would help reveal the nature of triples. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Until a couple of years ago, I refused to be labelled as well. It can be confusing until you realize just how differently the experience of the world is between ND and NT. Now, I don't think my particular fucked onion of features is the same as anybody else. The key part is that the nature of my fucked is way, way different. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Now... luckily I have my journal going back to 1990, so I really can trace my ideas and see where I've circled around. Also, I have dev stubs from my software archives where I built up to something and tried something else. I can see how I picked back up later when I had the skills to proceed. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Where do chickens fit in your plans? I used to rotate a chicken tractor around my raised beds. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I'll run with this and see where it ends up: graphology, lib-upng, and showdown w/ full heptads in the single PNG w/ ability to export locally to catch the libraries w/o needing fetch, so you can just open up the single HTML page in #offlinefirst mode. All heptads cumulative in IndexedDB w/ export. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy "85 million pounds of rotting food debris" https://mayor.lacity.gov/news/latest-updates-lineage-warehouse-fire-recovery-and-resources-impacted-residents npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy The heptads for my journal edge case end up taking only 2.3MB in PNG form. These are 6.5MB uncompressed in JSON form. This includes signatures for each heptad. If I use a key of H7 in IndexedDB, it should still be painless to collaborate. Next step is to see what page load time is. I want < .5S. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy "A few are wrong on the Nostr" I like that ... The Nostr Hon? When are you coming to bed? Soon, darlin. A few are wrong on The Nostr. Frankly, this is my own mini version of righteousness porn. It doesn't move any kind of needle that matters. My work is what matters. This comedy "sketch" nails it. I fall for it myself: https://youtu.be/QDydKwmrHFo npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Re-using this XKCD as a meme is becoming unsustainable. I need to delete this and get back to work. https://blossom.primal.net/c66b921569bfc4572fb4c3ae133bc06748a4ed001978036355a0499631c60a27.png npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy The question is, what kind of human would say "the rails are melting"? (Or, more accurately "thei rails are melting"). It doesn't really matter if it is actual AI slop, or a cultural propagation mechanism by well-meaning human agents that don't know that rails are made of steel and the most basic ideas of what temperature steel melts at. This does zero good. It is another form of righteousness porn and part of the information warfare. I'm unclear on what is *behind* the warfare. That is, did information warfare just *emerge* because of a lack of critical reasoning skills? Is it warring nations undermining targets? That being said, infrastructure is being stressed by climate change... but my-o-my, that is nothing compared to the combination of fossil fuel feedstock constraints and climate change on food supply. We could make progress if we didn't waller in this bullshit. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy For some more dimensions on this, consider this blend of fiction. I think it hits harder than the info warfare social media format. Note that I generally groove on quite a bit of your channel. You have some good stuff to say. I also imagine that you didn't originate the OP, you are just passing it on in its info warfare format. https://firesidefiction.com/the-secret-lives-of-the-nine-negro-teeth-of-george-washington npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I appreciate that you back up your swagger. 🫡 npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Family first. Internet second. My mom and her mom helped with the early stuff, primarily. The internet existed, too, and Google had done a decent job indexing it and prioritizing via weighted knowledge graphs on the back-end, so it was a good resource. I was a very late father, but even before the Internet went beyond academic/military, Compuserve and The Source had online resources. I used to use The Source via one of these: https://www.columbia.edu/cu/computinghistory/la36.html npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Tron, the 1982 version of the movie. Three of them (I only remember two right now, the counterantidisinformation Dmytri guy and his group and a permacomputing meetup). Not so sure there is a correlation with the OP or anything, but it is an interesting bit of info, no? npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy Just a few blocks from my house there is quite likely free hotdogs and a pop-up beer garden (not free beer, but perhaps free as in freedom). I'll have to walk over there for lunch and check. <hopeful> npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I use #vi keybindings, so my j key lost its ridge, and I was doing wacky things to my code. Usually the keyboard dies way before now. I have a stack of cheap kbds w/o transceivers and swap them out usually before this kind of wear. This dremel hack works! Plus, the project is still active. https://github.com/showdownjs/showdown npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy https://blossom.primal.net/491ba2a8d7b629d3ae39d41b6da3f51c28ff5f96e0fc12f5687fa6062889eea3.mp4 npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I need to be very careful on this, and consider the advantages to the simple version. It may well be that viewing somebody else's changes by reviewing their page and merging their changes at that point is better than being a viewer of a show that everybody watches and pokes at occasionally. I'll work out the simple version first, before adding more complex notifications. Also, this works offline. The key thing is the heptads which can be serialized and sent in many ways. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I got the heptads to load in the HTML page directly. All that is left is to write the rendering code, now that the heptads are available in an object. I'm thinking that anything you want to collaborate on, you will see, first. So, since these are cumulative, Alice just views Bob's page, and the heptads are loaded into IndexedDB. Alice can modify/supplement, and post to her website, which will now contain both. Carol can view both and hers will update. A pub/sub w/ an MQTT topic of the graph ID? npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy My desert island post reminds me of a story. When I was a freshman in high school we read Lord of the Flies. To kick it off, we had to show what we had in our pockets to see what we could build, etc. I had a pocket full of electronic parts that could conceivably build a radio, along with LEDs, a bunch of logic gates and a 5 volt regulator (lm309k). I'm sure there must have been a 555 timer too. I always had one of those. My pockets were banned from the scenario in disgust by our teacher. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy If I was stranded on a desert island and could take one thing, assuming my physical needs were met, and it had to be solo, I'd take a copy of MDN web docs (assuming I could read, use, and work along with it, which would mean a laptop and a PV setup). 2? Add #Proust. 3? #Shakespeare. What about you? npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy The question is, at what point do you call it creation? [A snap of a homebrew Z-80 computer I spent a decade of my life building and repairing cold solder joints on in between jobs and on vacation. At the time when I was feeding myself coffee, front-242 and Gen (psychic TV Gen) as math study grind music, I didn't go much darker. Coil? A couple decades later, all of Gen's previous band's work (Throbbing Gristle) was re-released. It had never interested me before, because it was too dark and odd, but over the years I had dug into some of Gen's weirder post-Throbbing-Gristle stuff, so I thought I was ready. I was curious. This was right about the time that I had to clean up an attic crawl space filled with old dusty insulation and rat shit. I couldn't do it in the summer, as it was too hot, so I had to do it in the spring and fall. I had a tyvec suite, full face mask and n95 filter. I bagged up all the old insulation, vacuumed up the remaining dust with a HEPA vacuum, and painted everything. I was probably up there for a couple hundred hours all-in-all, and I played the entire work of Throbbing Gristle over and over again on my headphones. It was a PITA to unsuit. I had a big container I used to gather the old insulation before I bagged it. I'd just sit down in it and piss when I needed too. I was always dripping wet with sweat. It didn't matter (I was hugging the summer, going up there until it was too hot). Most of the time I was laid out reaching under the eaves, pulling insulation in a claustrophobic way. My roof doesn't have much of a pitch. I can still hear the screech of IBM and Gen's droning about hamburger lady, but ... completely serious here... I took on some trauma with the combination, and I haven't listened to Throbbing Gristle since. Now, when I go back up in the crawl space I get a dark overhang of that past trauma and weight pressing down on me. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy This is the future IMHO (some intersects with the Nostr crowd). https://credoeconomics.com/ npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy We could loan you some blue angels. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy There is a difference, though, between a physicist who is focused in their domain and one that writes about any/all that gets youtube views. My concern has less to do with verifying her claims (I'm not a physicist or a mathematician), but more about what I will allocate attention to. In other words, would you read an article prefaced by "this one weird trick?". She is definitely chasing views. She has that waving hands appeal. I suppose the flip-side of this is that she is better at most at getting views, so from a certain perspective she is winning in a positive way, but I'm just more cynical, I guess. npub1ngs4dyj46z36ne6lrh3wfjyrexlzu4s43plj9vhv76cczw7dtp7sf96dlu floppy I don't trust her anymore. I think some Indian company fluffs it up with articles to sell their monitoring product.) At one point I purchased a rotating platform and was going to let the Internet feed my chickens by clicking a button while I was away. I do have some custom HTML spread around, too. I also had to modify the filter and template a bit to pass validation cleanly. So... not 100%, but I do appreciate that when I see it. I also appreciate the no-JS, just CSS/HTML sites. A couple nights ago my wife wanted me to watch something called 15 minutes of Internet on youtube on the tv. It was a collection of vine-like funny vids. As she was trying to find it, a lecture by McGilchrist came up as something we might want to watch. I laughed a bit at the incongruence, both the subject matter, and the fact that it was an hour and a half long lecture by McGilchrist.
