This happened... there were... ummm.... externalities. Jello was/is brilliant, but I can't see him doing complexity analysis. But... yeah... it is society in general. I always enjoyed Aldous Huxley's interview with Mike Wallace *in 1958*. We all kind of vary as we slot into blue/red, etc., it is human nature (Tomasello [2]). From my perspective, though, it is about scale, complexity, and machines with a mind of their own... not just AI, but the whole beast we are part of. We like to take the comfortable parts, but dismiss the difficult parts. Anyway... Love Jello. And that Ice T song with the Black Sabbath sample was a great Jello addition to my meat kit.

Yes. Ouroboros concept writing that doesn't match their spoken language, as spoken language is serialized, is how I see it, which is why I asked. It is surprisingly good. I've seen it pop up for a decade and thought, "Oh... no way. That looks stupid." I was turned on to it by my Bluesky feed where they compared human to Fermilab.

I changed my Nostr banner image to my heptapp svg logo. I designed the icon so that time was in the center. This makes sense. The other heptad elements revolve around time in a quickly changing, collaborative knowledge effort. I used Pault Tol's "Vibrant qualitative colour scheme", which has 7 colors that are "distinct for all people, including colour-blind readers,distinct from black and white, distinct on screen and paper, matching well together." [1]. I noticed that when I make the logo a banner, the I, T, and E elements are across the center, left to right. This makes Nostr sense, as Nost has Identity, Time, and Endorsement (signature) elements. The other event object content is in the form of key-value pairs. Kind is an attribute, and Tags are a series of attributes against the original event content, so they aren't the same as G, S, P, O, which sets up the "ether" nodes [2]. In general, this is the same kind of cognitive jump around triples vs. key-value pairs that gets devs all confused [3]. We need to "fuck it, ship it!" [4]. We don't care that the magic of the WWW came from triples. If triples form a knowledge graph. N-quads form a hyper knowledge graph, and I, T, E show integrity and provenance over time. < Can't we just put attributes on the page instead, the chorus chants. > Also, I just noticed that Paul Tol has a similar favicon, but he didn't go for vibrant [5].

My guess is I've written 100 different personal journal programs. I am quite familiar with the kinds of things I like to see in a journal, and I have entries going back to 1990 when I was using an IBM 5150 and WordPerfect. My first GUI version was in 1994. It is a good fit for a knowledge graph.

The heptads for my journal edge case end up taking only 2.3MB in PNG form. These are 6.5MB uncompressed in JSON form. This includes signatures for each heptad. If I use a key of H7 in IndexedDB, it should still be painless to collaborate. Next step is to see what page load time is. I want < .5S.

Family first. Internet second. My mom and her mom helped with the early stuff, primarily. The internet existed, too, and Google had done a decent job indexing it and prioritizing via weighted knowledge graphs on the back-end, so it was a good resource. I was a very late father, but even before the Internet went beyond academic/military, Compuserve and The Source had online resources. I used to use The Source via one of these:

I use #vi keybindings, so my j key lost its ridge, and I was doing wacky things to my code. Usually the keyboard dies way before now. I have a stack of cheap kbds w/o transceivers and swap them out usually before this kind of wear. This dremel hack works! (do f the same).

I got the heptads to load in the HTML page directly. All that is left is to write the rendering code, now that the heptads are available in an object. I'm thinking that anything you want to collaborate on, you will see, first. So, since these are cumulative, Alice just views Bob's page, and the heptads are loaded into IndexedDB. Alice can modify/supplement, and post to her website, which will now contain both. Carol can view both and hers will update. A pub/sub w/ an MQTT topic of the graph ID?

My desert island post reminds me of a story. When I was a freshman in high school we read Lord of the Flies. To kick it off, we had to show what we had in our pockets to see what we could build, etc. I had a pocket full of electronic parts that could conceivably build a radio, along with LEDs, a bunch of logic gates and a 5 volt regulator (lm309k). I'm sure there must have been a 555 timer too. I always had one of those. My pockets were banned from the scenario in disgust by our teacher.

At the time when I was feeding myself coffee, front-242 and Gen (psychic TV Gen) as math study grind music, I didn't go much darker. Coil? A couple decades later, all of Gen's previous band's work (Throbbing Gristle) was re-released. It had never interested me before, because it was too dark and odd, but over the years I had dug into some of Gen's weirder post-Throbbing-Gristle stuff, so I thought I was ready. I was curious. This was right about the time that I had to clean up an attic crawl space filled with old dusty insulation and rat shit. I couldn't do it in the summer, as it was too hot, so I had to do it in the spring and fall. I had a tyvec suite, full face mask and n95 filter. I bagged up all the old insulation, vacuumed up the remaining dust with a HEPA vacuum, and painted everything. I was probably up there for a couple hundred hours all-in-all, and I played the entire work of Throbbing Gristle over and over again on my headphones. It was a PITA to unsuit. I had a big container I used to gather the old insulation before I bagged it. I'd just sit down in it and piss when I needed too. I was always dripping wet with sweat. It didn't matter (I was hugging the summer, going up there until it was too hot). Most of the time I was laid out reaching under the eaves, pulling insulation in a claustrophobic way. My roof doesn't have much of a pitch. I can still hear the screech of IBM and Gen's droning about hamburger lady, but ... completely serious here... I took on some trauma with the combination, and I haven't listened to Throbbing Gristle since. Now, when I go back up in the crawl space I get a dark overhang of that past trauma and weight pressing down on me.

My experience is that different clients/apps handle it differently and sometimes it ends up being a long nasty unintelligible string. Plus, it is all assembled at the client, so it relies on relays, etc. But... I get your point.

Luckily, we never had to worry about that (or didn't, anyway). I am curious how you are prepared and how you test. Just watch them with their first bite and see if their throat swells up? EpiPen ready? [Unknown to us at the time, but our child's grandfather ended up developing a bad allergy to *tree* nuts.] No judgement here in any case. I mostly write in Markdown using Zettlr and let Pandoc do the heavy lifting on my current work, although I have a custom JavaScript filter which is kind of rogue (not Lua like sane people use). I do have some custom HTML spread around, too. I also had to modify the filter and template a bit to pass validation cleanly. So... not 100%, but I do appreciate that when I see it. I also appreciate the no-JS, just CSS/HTML sites. It is amazing what some people do with that.

Perhaps coming out of retirement to fix code that runs ATM machines is satisfying work, but I lump that in with the backhoe. Some tech has good applications.

A couple nights ago my wife wanted me to watch something called 15 minutes of Internet on youtube on the tv. It was a collection of vine-like funny vids. As she was trying to find it, a lecture by McGilchrist came up as something we might want to watch. I laughed a bit at the incongruence, both the subject matter, and the fact that it was an hour and a half long lecture by McGilchrist. (bookmarking this, but I have to use a different client)

Third sentence, for me, 💯. But I still try and fail 99.99% and go back for more like an insane person would. I view the internet as collaborative knowledge. That is what I want from it (Tim Berners-Lee's original primary requirement). But mostly it is used for a combination of Jung and Tomasello validation and progress towards shared cultural real-time cognition. This brings up structural double-binds and dead-ends. Tomasello believes and demonstrates with his science that humans have a super power of shared cultural cognition towards goals, but without backing maps (my add, not his stress) it is limited to a few tools and two teams in comprehension. I'm lumping Jung/Freud and Groddeck together and calling it Jung, and no need for explanation there.

fetch messes up offline-first. I can hack it with a recent Electron binary release and a handful of JS or manual browser config (dangerous to suggest!), but it is still nice to be pure default browser. For the Nostr crowd, the infrastructure problem is acknowledged. There is still a bit of fantasy in how it is addressed, but compared to a typical streaming service consumer, the understanding is much more sophisticated. This is also the Achilles heel of Bitcoin, in my mind, and why eventually culture will shepherd the infrastructure to centralized control for transactions. Like the WWW, the capability is there, but the instances end up matching cultural priorities. Trace the pragmatic financial motivations as we approach 21 million. Back to Nostr: The *crazy* thing is that the simple version of relays and simple signatures to validate events is exactly what we need, in my measure, for freedom from the infrastructure, but it is embedded in a culture where dev leaders all wannabe a typical social media app instead of a Scuttlebutt style "hey... in port. need water. what's the scuttlebutt today? what can I do to help." Along those lines I do appreciate Coracle more and more. Some of verbiricha/giorgio's work seems related and useful.

You can see both the explosion and shift in culture around 2012. This was when the WWW showed its capability for collective intelligence. At the same time opportunists were figuring out how to capture and hijack the wealth for themselves. The story is not over. The tech is free; the power shift is a harder problem. The infrastructure for collaboration is harder still, but unacknowledged.

I see the truth of what you are saying. I have no trouble with criticism, and when I do get it, it is great to have. With my technical stuff as I'm feeling my way through this, absolutely. I've received a few useful bits... thinking back, @nprofile…tl66 gave me some feedback, as did @nprofile…xvky , and I've used that. I'm human. I can get wadded up sometimes; however, if somebody takes the time to think about what I'm saying, actually reads what I wrote, and offers some criticism, that is gold. I wasn't very clear (or perhaps confused, or perhaps just wrong). My main point was that my approach of sharing any/all with an untargetted audience made me noisy and defeated the benefit of sharing.

Sharing as I learned, particularly with my weird take and requirements, made me very noisy. I alienate folks quickly. The academics see my flaws (although, TBF, a small percentage of those flaws are features that they can't see through their training). The regular folks see me as clankerish noise, which is quite counter-productive, since they are my audience. Academics don't need my work. They are quite comfortable.
