My internet provider is having an outage because of the snow, so I'm using my data for no really good reason other than to say:
When I was in 7th grade (1986?), my English class did a module on poetry, where I first read Robert Frost. The teacher had a (vinyl!) recording of him reading "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and I was surprisingly affected listening to him read it, to hear the rhythm in his voice. And I can't help but think about it now, as I look out into the snowy trees.

We just watched SMILE and other than overuse of MIDSOMMAR's "keep the drone steady and flip the cam 180"* it was really good! I'm looking forward to SMILE 2.
*We get it, we're moving into shit getting weird, but shit never got UNweird, why are you doing this over and over unless you're worried someone will accuse you of copying MIDSOMMAR. (To be fair, the first time I ever saw that was in MDSOMMAR, so if it was used somewhere else first, pls lmk.)

We watched IDLE HANDS (1999) last night -- a rewatch for me that might as well have been a 1st watch since I only saw it 25 yrs ago.
I have to say that it has held up really well given when it was made. The trademark 2000s awfulness-as-humor is minimal (only one joke jumped out at me), so it's mostly just the usual "tits for no reason" and "let's keep our 18yo female lead nearly naked," which is still baked in to a lot of horror now.
Would mostly recommend!

I generally don't enjoy movies that are pure psychological horror because largely they are done incredibly poorly. However, last night, we watched IT'S WHAT'S INSIDE on Netflix and it's not exactly psychological horror, but it's also NOT not psychological horror?

We had such a lovely one here as well, but I was driving and couldn't get a picture of it as much as I really wanted to! It was beautifully maroon at the horizon and blended up into a dark, rusty peach, then a gold-green.
