Ya, I skimmed through a live stream of the direct. I sort of like how "realistic" everything looks but outside of that I am kinda at a loss. I'm a super fan of the delivery of cheesy voice acting of the N64 version & this remake did not slap for me. I don't know what I want out of this series anymore tbh. I'm just glad we got folks out there decompiling the N64 version making recomps & PC ports of it. https://github.com/HarbourMasters/Starship npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary archive.today also owns the urls: archive.fo archive.is archive.li archive.md archive.ph archive.vn https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2026/02/wikipedia-bans-archive-today-after-site-executed-ddos-and-altered-web-captures/ https://mastodon.social/@solitha/116439691783426458 npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary The days of personal computers enjoying the defender advantage may be coming to an end within the next year or so. Kinda on tilt to add much more to this post, but feel like it's likely important enough to share. #llm #linux #anthropic #pc #computer #computers #software https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sd26pWhfmg npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary https://mstdn.social/@milagemayvary/116291424742312318 #note1efl…9gzs npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary If you haven't heard, data centers are LOUD. That's the thing though, they are mostly LOUD in frequencies inaudible to the human ear. Low frequencies also travel much further have high penetration so putting walls between the data center doesn't help much. With data centers cropping up all over the US, they sometimes get plopped down near neighborhoods. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? #datacenter #datacenters #ai #openai #anthropic #google #amazon #facebook #microsoft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bP80DEAbuo npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary You could get away with 8GB of ram, install zram on debian for RAM compression to get double usable memory with default settings. 16GB of physical memory would be ideal though, :windows: is memory hungry & it's likely as Win11 ages it'll be demanding more ram. npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Ya'll, take care & be well. :tux: 🐧 🐧🐧 npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Good to see.👍 Confirmed functional on Debian 13 + Sway. Always solid to have more map options for desktop Linux. 🐧 Personally I'm not a fan of flatpak, but this certainly is a more sane option & doesnt feel out of place on the desktop compared to using Waydroid containerizing + running comaps through that. https://media.mstdn.social/media_attachments/files/115/968/998/082/578/596/original/0e416e01535632f1.webp npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Agreed, I would imagine the goal would be to expand to have offline routing/planning. Check back in 2 years, heh-heh. Though I imagine by then either a solution pops up or maybe comaps devotes some time on a desktop client. Sorry I don't have a better answer. :blobcat_engineer: npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Ah, Gnome is currently in a draft process for offline maps. Taken from a draft open merge request "Only map viewing works in offline mode" https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-maps/-/merge_requests/512 🐧 🐧🐧 I'm unsure what you could try other than give Waydroid a try and run fdroid+comaps within an android container. This would be tad bit technical to setup, hardware acceleration functions with Intel+AMD GPUs but not Nvidia & kind of cpu intensive way to go about running offline maps. npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary gnome-maps powered by OpenStreetMap? It functions fairly smooth on low powered devices, I don't think I've seen it crash once. I only got a couple of hours of experience with it though. npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Middle click paste skipped the copy action. Highlight+middle-click paste will paste the highlighted selection skipping the copy action. https://mstdn.social/@milagemayvary/115855276997248754 #note17ua…5juf npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary 🐧 🐧🐧 Take care & be well. npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary I find the middle click mildly cursed, useful but needs to be respected. I could see how someone who is sick of typing their password 16 times for updating a single app via flatpak remotely via SSH (bug) so a stupid simple work would would be copying your password & paste it a bunch of times. Say you have an old Logitech G9X mouse that doesn't take much pressure while using the wheel to press the middle click. Not that its been a problem for me, but I think bad scenarios exist. npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary I knew middle click pasted, but just learned what it pasted. Since making the move to Linux in '16, everyonce in awhile was getting what I thought was odd behavior by using middle click so I moved purely ctl-v. Come to find out highlighting with no copy command plus middle click paste will paste what is highlighted. I personally find that cursed behavior, but I can see how its useful to reduce total overall actions. Today I learned. #linux #wayland #firefox #sway #gnome npub1sjygay7ck00tdtqgpxaf4fv62a0lnesppw9vfv5plwnkd9ssvnns90gcrs milagemayvary Gone too soon. Be well, and take care.
