In your example, the rss podcast namespace payment splits are a requirement, as the current advertising based podcast industrial complex is built on opposing philosophy; namely knowing as much as possible about the end user of the download.
Cracking the code of easy listener on-boarding to lightning thus requires custodial payment solutions that in turn require kyc
This is the conundrum.
Podcast content creators need to monetize, censorship resistance is not important to them.

many valid points. relays though aren't ready for the amount of traffic RSS podcast feeds generate. Also, many relays are ephemeral, so you'd probably wind up hosting it yourself anyway, just on a relay that won't be replicated.
Not saying it won't happen eventually.
Also,we have ipfspodcasting.net that works quite well,inlcuding sharing in boost splits

Hosting is by its very nature decentralized. Wavlake is part of that. Their feeds work perfectly fineiin all apps.
They just have a crippled app, people won't use it. Spotify spent a billion dollars to find this out.
I don't waste any time on apps that are crippled.
They will change it or fail.
Why waste energy on it?

@damus tripped the wire when adding "onlyZaps" to posts. Guideline for "optional" 'tipping and donations' was broken.
Remember: Apple is a law firm that also makes hardware and software. They can't give an edge case the benefit of the doubt when they have literally gone to court over in-app currencies.
Also Remember that relying on a single appstore (damus is iOS only) is the antithesis of 'decentralized'.
Alternative open source sysyems like GrapheneOs in addition to progressive web apps are the only way forward for mobile.
"Guidelines" can change at any time.
