I’ve posted about this before but the problem with your analogy is the welfare state. There were no benefits for the people you mentioned. No emergency room forced care, no SNAP program, no rent control or subsidized housing, no public schools (daycare), and a whole host of other available programs to the people coming here today. You cannot have immigration waves and a public welfare system. The people you mentioned came here with the full expectation of self reliance. If that existed today, no one would care about the “migration” issue. There are other issues like wide cultural differences, two-tiered legal enforcement, and some other stuff that are a much smaller part of the inappropriate analogue, but the crux of the difference is the welfare state. You cannot have open or liberal immigration laws and a welfare system. You have to pick one or the other.

Another couple incredible hikes today. One was way more challenging. Rock scrambles straight up for the last .1 miles with a kid on your back is a great workout. The last pic is called Devil’s Bridge. Almost an optical illusion, but that is a giant opening underneath.

Hot take: algorithmic trading will be dead within 5 years. There are too many incentives and it is too easy to move markets with fake news, profit, and then take it back. Programs will no longer be able to be profitable this way. Need to think about this more, but that’s my initial thought.

All depends on the type of alcohol. Distilled spirits won’t affect weight loss (other than leading to bad eating decisions). Beer and wine on the other hand, those will add weight. Weight loss is about eliminating sugars and carbs. Distilled spirits do not have either. Do not count calories.

Kid puked in the car. First time he’s ever yacked up more than just milk and first time ever in the car. The crime scene that was created was truly unbelievable. Pieces of ham in nooks and crannies that were untouchable. All of this right before walking in to an open house. I didn’t realize puke could smell like a garbage truck on a hot day. An hour ride back with the windows down on a 55 degree day getting consistent wafts of barf. Car seat went straight to the hose and kid straight in the tub. The joys of parenthood. Still wouldn’t trade it for the world. God is good.

For the record, I actually don’t have any defined belief one way or another on this stuff. A lot of it doesn’t make sense to me and everything else we have been taught is a lie, so forgive me if I’m somewhat dubious of this “universal truth”. This is what bugs me. Given the incredible tech we know we have, how are these the shots we are getting? There should have been a full film crew snapping off thousands of pics and rolling footage zoomed in on the earth. This being “the coolest photo” they came up with is a total joke.
