Last December I finally moved to this decent two storey house after living in a tight mold ridden studio for years. All was fun and games, I even proposed to my gf, until this piece of shit negligent middle manager fired me because low performance, exactly in the year I did the most jobs and closed the most cases since I joined the company.
I thank God that Pa has this unused flat in the capital city of our state, because rent nowadays is so ridiculously expensive, without a job it would drain my savings in few months. Now I have to move all the stuff in my 13 year old beater car, it will take at least two or three trips, 6-7 hour drive each leg.
I spent this whole week packing stuff, on the road, and cleaning inches thick of dust off the flat. Got so tired and time passed so fast I couldn't even commit to my project. I'm sure everything will get better though.

I mean, what if someone uses someone else's npub to login? My understanding of nostr protocol is small, from what I've read, if someone has your npub he can load all your posts, but can't post as you if he doesn't have your nsec. How can I certify it without asking for nsec? Does your code allow npub:password pair or only a nostr "signer" app? Regarding NIP-98, I see it was only a draft, none of the relays I use for example support it. Will I need to host a nostr relay that support NIP-98 for the users?

I wasn't aware of the gap from CPU to GPU mining in Bitcoin, only from GPU to ASIC way after I played with it. I might as well have mined on CPU. That old rig had the Radeon HD4870 paired with a hellish hot AMD Phenom II X4 940 BE. Although as you said not in 2009, since I was definitely on a pool.

It's not fictional, this happened. But you're right, it probably happened in 2010, not 2009. I didn't solo mine, but on a pool.
2009 was when I created the wallet. I know this because it was when I received the first email on my current e-mail address. This e-mail superseded the one I saved the wallet keys on.
And chill, dude, I'm not claiming to be a seasoned Bitcoin enthusiast. I played with it in the very beginning, forgot about it, LOLed when people started hyping in 2017, then got into Monero around 2019.

In 2009 I started mining #Bitcoin with a brand new Radeon HD4870. I barely knew what Bitcoin actually was and had absolutely no idea what it would become. I was just a teenager gamer with a high-end GPU, trying to make good use of it in spare time.
Then after a few months I questioned myself: am I getting something out of this or just wasting electricity? I made the math and realized "it was not profitable", the cost of mining was higher than the value of Bitcoin I was receiving. So I decided to stop mining to save my Dad a few bucks of electricity by the end of the month.
I mined total around 0.6 BTC, which at that time was maybe less than 100 USD. Also lost that wallet that is now worth thousands because I stored the keys in an inactive email. Had I kept on mining despite being not profitable, I would be a crypto millionaire today.
I learned my lesson. That's why I keep mining Monero even though on paper it is not profitable.

Setting up #ComfyUI for Linux with Radeon GPU ended being way easier than anticipated.
1. Install latest version of ROCm.
2. With pip, install a pyTorch build for that ROCm version.
3. Clone ComfyUI repo.
4. Create a Python virtual environment and activate it.
5. Install the Python packages from requirements.
Then if everything was done right, you'll be able to bring up ComfyUI server without errors. The interface can be reached via browser from localhost port 8188.

Yes, running a private node is quite simple, although if you plan making it public, some hardening is advised.
Regarding solo mining, unless you own some serious equipment, I believe it will not sustain a reliable payout frequency. I strongly suggest mining on a pool, especially P2Pool.

The incredible #twitter phenomenon which they hide your posts and likes even from yourself.
I'm so shadow banned on that platform, I can't even see some of my own posts.
Try it yourself: in the app, delete all your posts, replies and likes, you might not be able to zero the counter even after you delete everything.
Then, request that an archive with all your data be sent to you. It will arrive in your e-mail days later. You can open the archive in a browser and see all your posts and likes, including the hidden ones. The hidden posts are still there, if you copy the direct link to it from the archive, you can still load them in a browser. It's just not normally visible to anyone.
My KYCed profile I used to tweet since 2009 has 21 posts and over 8000 likes hidden. One thing I noticed is that the hidden content started from mid 2020, shortly after the pandemic started. It also coincided with the time when impressions and engagement to my posts plummeted. My posts used to get thousand of views and at least dozens of likes, then tanked to 0 to 20 views and 0 to 2 likes (from the profiles tagged in the post).
If no one is reading my posts, then at least I will be posting them on #Nostr.

#Monero mining performance of my rig's new CPU:
Stock: 20,5 kH/s
+EXPO: 21,5 kH/s
+PBO+CO: 22,5 kH/s
Simply turning EXPO profile on the memory added 5% to hashrate without any increase in temperature or power draw.
PBO added another 5%, at the cost of drawing more power. I haven't measured it, therefore it's unclear if the difference in energy consumption is worth the additional hashrate. More power naturally leads to higher temperatures. At 24°C ambient, temps while mining were ~77°C before PBO, then ~88°C after PBO and Curve Optimizer at -15 mV. At operational system level, power profile at Balance and Performance were similar, while Economy dropped hashrate to stock levels, while keeping temps at 60°C and noise at near silent levels.

More important than design though is the app's trustworthiness. How do you plan of dealing with bots and scammers?
For example, a first time user requesting a ride, and the driver who accepts the ride is actually an Indian using GPS spoofing? It will ruin that users experience with the app and he'll never try it again.
Another example, let's say the payment only happens at the end of the trip, and the rider cancels the trip right at the end? Drivers will get mad and never offer their services again.

I'm vibecoding an app, the backend is written in Rust. And it's great because if it compiles after a code change suggestion, then almost certainly it works. If it doesn't compile, I consider it as Rust's feedback of the LLM (the more compiler errors, the worse is the LLM). Rust compiler errors are quite helpful and often one doesn't even need additional prompts to fix them.

Google's ecosystem is very sticky. I was able to replace everything but Gmail and YouTube.
Email is my priority now, before its too late because of age verification laws. Most suggestions I received were Protonmail, Tutamail and Mailbox.org.
Currently I'm using Tutamail for the secondary email (no-KYC stuff) but still need to find a proper replacement for the main email.

Getting rid of gmail is one of the most difficult but important things one can do for a sovereign digital life. It has been my main email for almost two decades. Most of my logins are associated with it, including many services I don't even remember registering.
Most people suggest simply moving to protonmail but although it may be the easiest path, I don't think that's a true solution for the problem. Proton deletes your account if you don't log in the app or via browser for more than 1 year. Imagine being in a comma or simply having a busy/bad year and bam all you had is lost. Tutamail is even worse, it happens in 6 months. The email provider I used when I started mining Bitcoin in 2009 deleted my email where I stored the wallet seed in 2012, to save less than 100 MB on their server. It would be way better if I had backed up in a CD. Imagine how much important data one can easily lose trusting an email provider with inactivity deletion of one year or less.
The best approach for this problem IMHO is having your own domain, hosting your own email server and regularly backing up in your own physical media. However that's too difficult for the vast majority. And the majority also don't think it's necessary, and don't care about Google asking for ID or facial recognition.

One of the nicest things in #monero imho is that even if you're a broke-ass nigga with a regular laptop, you can still mine and help the network almost the same as a rich dude with the most expensive setup. Broke-ass nigga will hash around 2kH/s while rich rude will hash around 20kH/s. OK, that's one order of magnitude more, but still negligible at the grand scheme of things. Mate 16% yearly interest is not a walk in the park. To get that return one will have to be exposed to risky, unreliable assets. Also you should consider 4-5% inflation silently corroding that amount. After 10 years of 5% inflation, one would need 3250 USD to purchase the same 2000 USD purchased 10 years before. If it was that easy everyone would be selling their homes and living stress free between resorts on pacific islands.

Everything is on the internet now. Whatever service you need, including essential public utilities, it's done online. I had to change the water bill to my name after I moved, they had KYC shit all over the place (selfie with ID, etc). I went to their store to do it the old way (offline) and they lend me a tablet to do the same procedure I was trying to avoid.
