At the very least people, journalists, organizations, academics should generate their own npub and basically use it as a signature for any future circumstance where a private proprietary platforms boots them, demonetizes, or mutes/shadow ban/downgrades posts.
An npub can allow followers to have better verification when one jumps ship to another platform.
Or just use nostr as well.

That's a shame. I remember seeing it, garnet had xmr zaps?
I don't think I ever tried it when it worked but remember seeing it. Had a weird issue where it wouldnt install while amethyst was installed and just gave up then.

Sometimes I wonder if promoting absolute privacy in an age of AI will ultimately disconnect people from each other due to the bot pollution.
True I think this is a valid concern.
Ultimately I hope and think that the bots will show their 'bottiness' and their AI slop nature and that people will reveal who they are even in an anonymous form and even if the real identity is never disclosed (Good luck to anyone trying this!)
It may even make people express an identity in a more unaltered form and free of censorship.
Question to all: How do you work on strategies to spot bots, stay anonymous and accept anonymity as the grounds for identity as well?

I have to say I'm disappointed, or should I be happy? that no bot responded. that means bots are hiding or none of my followers are bots which I highly doubt.
However the instructions were clear, do not reply unless you are a bot. Answering in the all caps negative is still a response. So you're sus #1 now.

I get that nostr doesn't have the network effect yet but people should not be making X their home.

Ok I've determined I will only use #foss and open platforms, which I mostly do. The o ly thing I lurk is twitter and that's because people use those platforms.
I should no longer lurk on X.. It might be a loss, especially for journalists and others, but replacing with a good book is a good substitute.
I've at least resolved to use it and try to bridge people away from proprietary...

The majority of people I know use proprietary software or platforms.
Why? Why be so quick to give up your data sovereignty to corporations who have commodified and captured every single bit of digital life.

I think it's still less likely here relative to proprietary platform with algo engineering and signal boosting fakes are all too common.
Thinking outloud here but it's nice to avoid a lot of that even though I guess I've seen a few here.
I'm sure though if nostr substantially increased its network that it'll be invaded by the influencer crowd

Shower thought time (no, I'm not actually showering right now 😅)
I love the anonymity behind a cryptographically verifiable identity.
The identity is formed through history of use of that identity and no one can impersonate as I have my own key and no one can take it, unless I'm a noob and let someone take it.
I love this anonymity because at the end of it, who the fuck am I? Who knows? Let the identity speak for itself.
There is something so liberating of having this anonymity.
Obvious drawback: the more shared, the more I reveal bits and pixels of some real entity.

I hate that I still spend time on Twitter X. It's a terrible platform and I hate how much activity it still gets.
More people should use nostr. I'm unfortunately getting flashbacks of convincing some friends and family to get signal.
It was annoying, and for those who stuck with whatsapp, probably a good idea I dont associate with meta bootlickers anyways lol.
Soon I will apply the same with those that keep using Twitter X. Why waste more time.

Clearly it's an annoying way of holding the phone. I get it, sometimes there's sun glare or they have to change the position of the screen but at least do it in a way that wouldnt cast doubt.

Agreed. Communism is just an idea for many. It has not materialized anywhere but the idea is it should eventually. The classical Marxist idea is that capitalism creates the conditions for its own negation and undermines itself. Which is why we seem to reverting back to non capitalism and feudalist relationships

I wouldnt solo mine unless you have a sizeable amount of rigs to make it worthwhile. But based on probability it should all average out.
P2pool is nice as it can distribute xmr based on tenants of a shared pool without giving your hash to a central pool operator

Given a choice, I'd 100% always opt to use #monero #xmr for payment or transfer. And then I'll feel sad I lost some xmr and do my best to replace it. Securing the network is one good way if you're able to!

I've read Marx and I'm pretty sure he mocked people writing 'cookbooks of the future' that just really sit in their drawer and has no basis in reality and that we can just 'wish' into existence some perfect society with a snap of the finger or by some plan some technocrats made up in some room.

Communism, communist, anarchists, etc. have a lot of variety and internal difference. It's hard to generalize them all. For example, on state power, Marx was early on a journalist and had seen first hand how the violence of the state can impede speech when it raided their presses. He was well aware of the inherent violence of the state. Communist activists have also historically also been victimized by the state.
Also Communism is generally seen as a stateless society once class antagonisms have been withered away. I'm pretty sure you have Engels saying the state should 'wither away'
I don't find it surprising that there'd be some overlap and agreement on some issues with libertarians for instance, a group also containing differences.
Obviously all this doesn't negate there are different viewpoints how to get to a stateless society.
