People rarely pay only the bill and never more as it is considered a sign that your service was terrible, and would be considered very rude. In fact, I have heard people in-the-know about such things say that if you can't afford to pay a tip, you shouldn't even go out to eat.

July 16, 2026 (although I'm actually writing this on the 17th) This has been a week, between the heat and the smoke - wow! The highest AQI (air quality index) we got to, that I know of, was 461 (Thursday). The air was a sickly yellow-gray color, heavy, and thick. Between the triple-digit heat indices and the unbreathable air this has been quite a week so far! By the end of the day all that was left to do was go to bed early and see how Friday would work out so that's what I did...and now we'll see...I hope, wherever you are, you are safe!

July 13, 2026 @ 16:06 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ I hope you are staying cool today. How come I never heard of a "heat dome" until this year? I guess we're under one now, with temps in the upper 90s (not unusual in summer once in a while) and heat indices in the low 3-digits. I remember when it would get this hot when I was a kid and staying with Gram at her house at Higgins Lake, and she would pack up food so we could hang out at the beach...with the breeze off the water and the shade from the trees behind the beach we were plenty cool. Of course now we live a short distance from the bay (at the purlicue of the mitten) but here we sit. Go figure 🤷. I wouldn't want to leave the animals home alone in this heat anyway though. Staying cool to me means spraying myself with a water botter and sitting in front of the fan. Our tiny bedroom a/c doesn't keep up well when it is this hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse but we'll deal with that when we get there. Speaking of which, I will see you then, enjoy the rest of your day❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

June 27, 2026 @ 11:39 Good morning family & friends❣️ Absolutely gorgeous day outside, in the 70s, sunny, and breezy. Since I was so busy all week and my laundry kept getting pushed back, that will be my focus for the day. All day. Yesterday I'd planned to at least do a couple of loads but the girls were here and we'd promised some garage saling which turned into an entire day of yard, garage, and estate sales...plus dinner out. And by the time I got home I crashed, of course. Never even got my laptop turned on yesterday. BUT we got some good stuff which I'll tell you about at some point but for now I will be relocating my laptop to the bedroom so that I can work on my site while I do laundry...Zoey is coming to work today too, so that's it for now and I will see you later, enjoy your Saturday❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

June 25, 2026 @ 20:24 Good evening family & friends❣️ We've had tons of rain today, starting with when we were up in Pinconning at the butcher shop. It was fine when we went in, and as we were checking out the cashier said, "It's a real downpour outside!" I said, "really?" (as in casual conversation, they have no windows) and she said, "A little bit" which puzzled me...but when we went out the door I saw that "downpour" was an understatement! We were drenched in the 15' it took to get to our car! It was raining and hailing too hard to drive and the streets were flooded anyway, so we waited a little while and listened to the storm warnings on the weather radio, then started back to Bay City. Bright and sunny when we got closer to home, we stopped at another store and when we came out the sky was black again so we high-tailed it back to the house to get our purchases inside before the sky opened up again. Crazy stuff! We did have Luna with us for part of the day which is always fun...and at one point we stopped at a Farmer's Market which was mostly crafts and baked goods this early in the season, but it was quite nice. Then I made us a supper of lamb (for Pete) and chuck roast (for me) fried up with onions, and crispy cheese zucchini slices in the air fryer for both of us. Now it is sunny but the clouds are getting dark over the bay so not sure what to expect but I will be going to bed soon, it was a long long - but good! - day. I will see you tomorrow❣️🙇‍♀️🥱🛌🌛

June 24, 2026 @ 13:56 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ Do you ever get the feeling that there is significance to a date, but you have no idea what it might be? As I was typing June 24 I had that feeling. (Gwen, if you're reading this, do you know?) Anyway, after my usual 12-hour big nap - after my 5-hour earlier nap - I am up, and, while drinking some amazing iced coffee, I finally got around to making a fun change to my site (look to your left) that I've been planning but finally got around to actually doing. At least once a day I see something(s) I want to share but it/they don't fit in anywhere, and that's what that left column will be for:

We will have our middle granddaughter here for a couple of hours, and I also have to make a pot of dog food for Maisie, but I should be rested up enough to handle it all! Therapy was rough today but I really wanted to push through since I will only have one more after today. I came home ready to eat and sleep! Had some lunch (cheese and tomato with keto chicken nuggets) and spent time with 7YO Luna, then I crashed. Totally. For 5 hours. Done in. June 20, 2026 @ 21:22 Good evening family & friends❣️ Another busy day. All of the laundry has been rinsed and dried repeatedly as the weather gets sunny and breezy before another downpour, repeatedly. Zoey was here of course, and did her usual great job with Maisie and cleaning, and helping me with a couple of extra little things. I even managed bang out a few songs on my keyboard from my new SG hymnal. We had a fantastic dinner tonight of pollock seasoned with salt and lemon pepper, fresh green beans tossed with olive oil and buttery steakhouse seasoning roasted on top of the pollock, and my favorite: sliced zucchini dipped in vegan (Pete can't have eggs) mayo mixed with a little milk, then tossed with a mixture of keto flour, beef gelatin, arrowroot powder, and seasonings, then air fried until the coating is lumpy and browned and ever-so crispy. Excellent meal! I did get the blog updates done today, now I'm not sure about tomorrow since I won't be home much but if nothing else Don's guest post will be up, he has so many followers and I don't want to be lynched! And now I will likely go to bed but I will see you tomorrow...sleep well❣️🙇‍♀️🥱🛌🌛

June 18, 2026 @ 08:59 Good morning family & friends❣️ Gray and rainy on and off this morning, though the sun was out for a few minutes. Expected high of 67°F which is just because my cool weather clothes are already packed up for the summer. We are all rather subdued today, including the PoiBoiz, and especially Maisie. The girls are here, Lyra is sleeping (she usually goes back to bed when she gets here) and Luna is sitting here with me, playing on her tablet while I work on the blog. I will come back later to put up Don's guest post, as I've got things I need to get done today and want to get them out of the way. Plus Luna wants me to make her some rice, she just loves rice. I'm going to cut up a couple of all-beef hotdogs into bites and fry them in butter; she wants hers with the rice, I'm going to scramble some eggs with mine. Since I woke up several hours early today I am hungry several hours earlier too, and I will be at the laundromat a long time. June 17, 2026 @ 12:28 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ It is a cloudy, breezy day so far, with an expected high of 74°F. Our lows this week will be dropping through the 50s until the weekend when it will be back in the mid-40s which is crazy at this time of year. I will start my mounds of laundry later after this but because of rain threats on and off will be using my indoor rack for drying. It will take me a week to do all of this...so far today I've done my usual blog updates and Wed Wags, this week is a special edition dedicated to the love and loss of dogs, as this afternoon Chuy will be going to the vet for the last time, which I explain in more detail at the bottom of that post for those interested. June 12, 2026 @ 12:19 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ Very pleasant day today, upper 70s, breezy, sunny; we have the house opened up. I don't think the severe weather last night reached our area but so many places - in Michigan and other states - were hit pretty hard. I was watching my Ventusky weather app and it was just about as colorful in the upper midwest as I've ever seen it. Today no plans other than to go out for fish dinner to the same place we went last Friday, which is a little family-owned place that we "discovered", tried, and loved. So I guess we'll get back to our former habit of Friday Fish Dinner Dates, as we have in the past. A LIFE UPDATE:
June 10, 2026 @ 12:55 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ This week I am working (and yes, it is work) on regaining control of my emotions and my daily activities. I don't know which needs to come first - ie, if my feelings are under control my daily life will follow, or the other way around - so I'm doing both, as well as I can. I am progressing well enough in my therapies that yesterday was my last speech therapy and that is such a positive thing that it is a good place to start. In addition, some of my goals are being met (able to, and starting to enjoy again, gardening, cooking, playing my keyboard, and even picking up my ukuleles) and it's only been a year tomorrow since my TBI occurred. I've had a huge setback with the loss of my precious, beautiful, and much beloved friend Annette, and taking time to grieve. What I'm still in that process, and miss her more than words can say, I do take comfort in the fact that she is exactly where she has been longing to be, in the arms of the Lord she loves so much! We have had many discussions about it and I'm fully aware of that, which is the most comforting thing to me as the Spirit continues to heal my heart. So still a lot of work to day BUT it is progress and I'm not feeling quite as lost, sad, and helpless as the last year has been.
I plan to work again on my meme galleries and other blog postings that have become part of what I have done here over the last 6 years. I will also start doing things a little differently, as in changing the format a bit, but that will be happening over time.

June 9, 2026 @ 18:49 Good evening family & friends❣️ Just a quick update today, it was therapy day so I was gone most of it, and asleep for the rest. I just got up and started my supper (roast pork with zucchini). We had a lot of rain earlier according to Pete, so I won't have to go out and water my garden tonight. It will be an R&R evening after I eat. Still have tons of laundry to do, we will see how the weather goes in the general area of my clothesline outside over the next few days. I guess that's about it for now, and I will see you tomorrow, have a good night❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

June 8, 2026 @ 11:22 Good morning family & friends❣️ I am sitting here with my now-7YO granddaughter who is keeping me company. We had her birthday dinner yesterday and she is wearing one of the outfits we got her for her birthday and it is adorable. Pete is dozing in his chair. It is sunny and today's high is 88°F but we have no plans to go anywhere. I will likely start laundry later today, though tomorrow is therapy day and I'll be gone so can't keep the up with it, I might wait until Wednesday. This week I also have to call the vet med school at MSU to see what it takes to get Maisie seen down there for a 2nd opinion (my own vet is on board), and I have some paperwork to get to the courthouse yet today (unless I can do it online?) as I've been called to register for jury duty. By today. And those are my plans for the day unless something else comes up. But really I want to sleep. I hope that you have a good day❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

June 7, 2026 @ 11:09 Good morning family & friends❣️ It is cool, sunny, and breezy today. The expected high is 73°F and 55°F tonight for a low. Leelan & Luna spent the night last night and Luna has already gone home, while Leelan is at church with Pete. Later today is Luna's birthday dinner; she chose a Chinese buffet in Saginaw. 5 birthday dinners in less than 2 months in our family in the spring. Once they get home I will take my shower and get dressed (I don't shower when I'm alone, I've smashed my head 3 times in the last 2 days and apparently can no longer be left to my own devices 🤕😵😣). Anyway I think I will go play my keyboard before the guys get home, and I will see you tomorrow. Have a good day❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

June 6, 2026 @ 11:11 (yeah, seriously!) Good morning family & friends❣️ Well first of all I see that I forgot to share one of Don's guest posts on Thursday. While that surprises me, it shouldn't; my mind has been everywhere except where it should be lately, while my heart has been bogged down with incredible sadness. Neither of which are common for me and I am not handling them well. However, I thought I would log in and do what I can do. While I'm not feeling humorous meme galleries at the moment, and don't care much about keeping track of what I'm eating, I decided I would at least try to start doing Ain't That The Truth and Daily Video updates again, whether I'm feeling it or not. Thinking of stripping my site down to bare bones this month as well to make it simpler (especially on mobile devices) and more clean. I will see how that progresses. And lastly I will go back to doing a daily update here most days. Just kind of pushing myself back into life, a step or two at a time. Anyway, enjoy your day and I will see you tomorrow❣️😑🐕‍🦺🙏🌱🎹✝️

1st two sentences, paragraph 2, seems to be the norm rather than the exception on many Christian circles. Just believe something, doesn't have to be "gospel truth" (literally)...and many shrug rather than contend, let alone earnestly...

June 1, 2026 @ 19:52 Good evening family & friends❣️ I worked on this blog most of the day after I got up and took care of some business with our bank, then got the grands off the bus, and took them home a couple of hours later. Pete made our supper while i was gone so we ate together when I got back. Now I'm just finishing up so I can go to bed early as I have my therapies tomorrow. There is stuff going on every day lately...wearin' me out! (Maisie is wagging her tail against a plastic tablecloth and I said, "Is that you waggin' your tail, Maisie??" I guess I've not understood the reasoning myself, though I'm sure it's political or financial in one way or another. If one is poor anyway, it makes sense that they shouldn't have to use their utility budget on cooking food when they can get it already cooked. On the other hand, buying ingredients is a lot cheaper than buying prepared food. On the other hand (yes, I know that's 3 hands), why would anyone tell people, no matter their financial status, what they should or should not buy for their own diets...? (And this is why I don't get involved in politics - none of it makes sense to me.)

It is amazing what they can do for these eye diseases isn't it! I remember my godmother was getting injections quite a while ago and it seemed barbaric to me. But now it is more common and definitely helpful!

March 27, 2026 @ 12:40 Good afternoon family & friends❣️ I woke up about 90 minutes ago to bright sunshine and hot water. (When Pete hears me stirring he often heats my tea water for me and covers it so it's ready to start steeping when I get to the kitchen.) Looks like our high today will be 32°F and clouds moving in later. The grands will be here after school for a while but other than that no plans today. Which is good, I really need a "down" day to regroup. I'm not sure what I will be posting today, meme hunting is fun so of course Friday funnies. My sweet 11YO granddaughter Lyra, after suggesting Saturday Sea Creatures, made me a chart with suggestions for "meme days" covering 5 weeks when I mentioned that I wanted to freshen things up a bit around here. So watch for some more "Lyra fun" coming up! Meanwhile, I guess I will see you later...hope you have a fantastic Friday in the meantime❣️🙌✝️🎶😆🥩🌿💐👴👵🐕‍🦺🦜

Good evening family & friends❣️ Kids are here, though 2 of them are with Pete/Umpa at their house, taking care of the livestock and picking up their dog to bring back with them. When I woke up this evening I did the Friday Funnies, had something to eat, took care of the PoiBoiz for the evening, and will probably be back in bed shortly as per usual. It has always been a priority with us to be taught and fellowship where the Bible is strictly adhered to, no matter the name of the church. That is not easy to find these days. I would love a home church (which we did about 20 years ago) again actually...closest we got to the way things were in Jesus' day...
