Can't wait for tomorrow's tempo run - it looks monstrous! https://image.nostr.build/09cf6168d3b8a388dfc6ea61a915ecebfe62304edef259c69b6cd792b359192a.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Easy long run towards the end of the week 🏃 I had to change my running app yet again. It turned out my now-previous app can't recognize workout results unless they're sent as structured workout data - so if you hop on the treadmill and nail every exercise, it won't register, and your future workouts get affected as a result. On top of that, the app wasn't really looking at my heart rate. So that's app #3 now :) https://image.nostr.build/ab03cadcb1c650147cb8dd13efd9b1b4ff88b0612a8b66a33ce213aa67fbefcb.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Today drop set session was not easy at all. I chose treadmill to keep pace right 2 x 1km @ 4:05 followed by 2 x 0,8km @ 4:00 followed by 2 x 0,6km @ 3:55 followed by 2 x 0,4km @ 3:50 and finally 2 x 0,2km @ 3:40. I’ve missed that kind of challenge and effort - thank you my new running app. Life without obstacles - real or made up - is just so boring. https://image.nostr.build/39b6b37727d6c23bc3eca5fac82ab72a76a8e521bd822ee3ecba0ebb70845884.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit I am finishing week 9 with a total distance of 41 kms. Good deload. This is also my first week with a new app - the first advantage I noticed that now on long runs and easy runs I do not have to keep some preset pace and can run whatever feels natural. I like that https://image.nostr.build/d41a67e0cdc15777912800950f3a0444180585b3a57ae630f766a33762b46ecb.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Model doesn't matter, harness does! Yesterday I spent 170M input tokens analyzing and developing code, building and fixing markdown files, running workflows, and distilling knowledge out of data. It cost me around $5 - my usual day averages below $1. Over time I've used GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenCode, Gemini (CLI and web), ChatGPT (web), and some models through Azure AI Foundry. Nowadays I mostly use independent model suppliers (EU and US based chips), though I still have access to Copilot and Azure AI Foundry. After all of that, it hit me: in ~90% of cases the model matters less than the environment (the harness) you run it in - and your skills. Almost every task, from writing code to translating to building knowledge, can be done just as efficiently with open-weight models. The performance gap between an average model and the top Anthropic/ChatGPT/Google offerings is around 20% (based on various benchmarks), but the price gap can be ~7,000%: ~$0.05 per million tokens (mixed input/output - what I actually pay) for open-weight models vs ~$3.85 (mixed) for Claude Opus 5. Based on my experience, the real skill is learning to understand and operate models. As human-like as they seem, they're statistical beings predicting the next token - they hallucinate and act weird when they lack proper context. Getting used to that and navigating it with good prompts and harnesses matters more than bleeding-edge models. Also, popular subscription models for LLMs don't make much sense in my opinion - it's much better to use them either for free (paying with your data) or pay per token, anywhere. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Another day, another run! It finally got cooler but tempo runs were not easy. I got my me PB for 1km though ! 🏆 https://image.nostr.build/aad3c93fb8789af87d1b8e364aed3843c97c03393fc9872ec95d5e9b8275f4b1.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit It felt quite strenuous for an easy run 🏃 probably it is just hot right now🔥 🥵 https://image.nostr.build/de590625fcee93d6783910717312da9ea9a424dc249f340e4c7a0e9429c4e751.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Not really. Pseudonymity only masks your identity from the outside world - the agent providing it can still trace it back to you. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Anonymity leads to lack of accountability and that in the most cases is a problem. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Finally some workout that got me tired. Short, sweet and somewhat heavier https://image.nostr.build/2be4d877ac1d330271404d8393b2f4071782d65567952b86b680481ce77d48e0.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Easy start into week 9. Now with new app coach. Hope this one is better than the previous one. https://image.nostr.build/26193565b746d42bc8cd3ef638da750fbb7529fceb165916c53134292dcdd91c.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit It sounds like a modern echo of Fromm's classic question: to have or to be? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit For my June half marathon (1:41:30) I also trained roughly 5x a week, so 5x is nothing new for me. This block's 5x wasn't even hard - most sessions actually felt easy. On top of that, my Garmin has a Running Tolerance feature that measures the training load I can sustainably handle, and I never breached it. I think Trenara basically picked the wrong strategy. Lots of easy miles is fine and builds a big aerobic base, but I didn't get enough stimulus in the lactate zone. My half-marathon pace is 4:42 min/km, yet when I look at my Trenara workouts, my tempo runs sit around 5:06 min/km. I never actually ran 1–2 km continuously at my goal pace during the prep block. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Half marathon, August B-race: goal sub-1:40, finished 1:42:41. Complete failure vs what I expected of myself. I trained diligently - 5x/week, no skips - and stayed on Trenara's (running app) plan start to finish. My effort was real. Trenara didn't deliver. I just deleted my account. Fortunately my data was synced to other running apps so now they can take over. https://image.nostr.build/481f5eb28bdaf7f83e29b9c8eccf3fa79d92ec53ac5e0d952f5dedfac03afde8.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Thanks npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit pax tecum npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit One last run before competition https://image.nostr.build/91186b7eb7578f25e74db9b5661f1bdbfb738a054e8f99fb9bd98b7d2c565696.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Easy run - last one workout before hm https://image.nostr.build/7385bb938f281d1efd2f298dfdf2d232e3e9db2709629f5784cdd5776fb4d586.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Monday endurance run 🏃 https://image.nostr.build/3f093d4dc807d1bbc29fbe7269c7ae24ce13d8578d7430229f3f0253c2183c9f.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Do you feel that with each new generation of LLMs you actually get better results? For example, you don’t change how you use Claude Code/Cursor - you use the same prompts and the same tools, yet you get different results when you switch from, say, Sonnet to Fable? I personally don’t feel much difference. About 1-1,5 years ago, there was a moment when models became much smarter, but now the curve of “getting better” is flattening out. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Long run at the end of week 7. This week I ran a total of 46.3 km but since the Ruda Śląska Industrial Half Marathon is next week it’s better to take it easy. 2 more workouts left! https://image.nostr.build/db3aa7dfde80044088bbfe947b8da2efcba141c38a3ea6b27c73c46d1c08222b.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Both Anthropic and ChatGPT do a very good job, but they have become quite expensive. This was the only reason I decided to explore open‑weight models. GLM 5.2, offered by many independent suppliers, can perform on par with Claude Sonnet and is much cheaper. The remaining question is whether we need frontier AI models for coding (even models like GLM 5.2). I suspect there is an approach where people use frontier models to code a single large monolithic task, such as “code me an app.” By breaking that task into several subtasks, you can use virtually any coder to handle those subtasks as they become less complex and usually architectural pattern is more sound. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Have you ever tried so called open weight models such as Kimi, GLM or Mistral? I really like MiniMax M3 (though I use it more for orchestrating than actual coding) npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit I will try to answer 5k questions in September. I made my training a bit tougher because I'm preparing for a half marathon next weekend, and quite frankly, I didn't know what pace I could sustain. I’ll aim to beat 1:40. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Happy weekend to you too! npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit I've been watching you do weighted pull-ups for a while now. Sometimes it looked clean, and sometimes honestly - it was a bit scary to watch. This one is scary. One piece of advice from a climber who had a shoulder injury a year ago and is still recovering - and please check it with a climbing coach or any gym coach: when you do weighted pull-ups never climb the ladder with the weight on and don't jump up to grab the bar. Set up a step so that you can reach the bar, grab the bar, engage your scapula, and only then start your pull-ups. And on the way down, never let your shoulder go slack - stay engaged the whole time. I know this better than most - 8 months of recovery! You're doing great! Stay safe! npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit My 5k personal best and a side effect of interval workout 22:44. Not even that tired actually- just wondering if I could shred those 2 mins if I really want to!? https://image.nostr.build/6d020c907e4725efa0a23c49cb79f131f54ce315c210ac9d60238ec89e048381.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Your posture against the mainstream is also very interesting to me. It reads almost like a battle against an evil you've identified. But what really is that mainstream? You accept that there were dinosaurs, that you wear a seatbelt while driving, that a broken hand goes to a hospital, you should not overspeed while in town or all people are equal. So what is your mainstream? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit You are so open and this is just so interesting - thank you for that. One last question: what does sharing (spewing out) give you back? Is it mainly because you hold something others don't (you know more than they do) or is it closer to repeating a mantra so it lands deeper each time or is it about finding people to join your views (that are in err) or is it that this whole topic is one of the rare places where you actually feel confident/positive? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit My wife used to follow the same pattern (nowadays less so or she does not tell me ) - mostly around psychology and spirituality. Very much against mainstream medicine, very much in favor of a holistic lifestyle. At first we argued, then I gave up and tried to understand why she was doing it despite not even knowing how a human cell is built. Finally it occurred to me that "I am confident but I am no expert" isn't knowledge, it's a form of belief - like the certainty people hold about heaven and angels. Could this be a modern church? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit So accepting evidence would denote somewhat deeper understanding of the subject ex if you say that some mathematical theorem is wrong then in a way you admit to understand math! After getting yourself familiar with those podcasts do you feel that you are specialist in this subject or have deeper understanding of the subject than others? Have you read any papers/articles about it? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit I assume that by trade you are not a geologist and I genuinely (really not pulling from you) find it sociologically interesting why people take sides on subjects that in a way do not apply to them or their daily life? What really hooked you to take sides with those people and not their opponents? Did you find the other half less appealing in some way or is there something here about how the narrator made you trust him? npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit It is a very personal and touchy subject so everyone should judge for themselves whether or not they want to have children in this world and either way it's OK. I don't see anything miraculous in having children, but I fully accept and support those who do. npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Today was first time every I was not able to finish my workout. After 1st set of intervals I was barely able to walk https://image.nostr.build/993ae2b7876aea5f3529409fe4d3b4fa53df3010082531f254cb9dc609a4b7a4.jpg npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit Nope npub1pds5ysg65x2ecanzjfy59xue035qhgd9l3xmmpdm3z9rjq6lcrjqs3fwms N6_unit I am not sure that this is such a great piece of advice. Somehow I do not see how we are going to tackle global warming problems anytime soon and next generations will have to live with consequences. I know they will adapt but I am not sure how great life is going to be. But platforms like it became breeding grounds for lies, indecency, and violence, experienced above all by the very young." In a normally functioning democracy, today's internet users were essentially invisible — their influence limited to elections. Now, the silent majority has been given unlimited ability not just to voice opinions, but to produce information. The spread of hate and fake news is, in a sense, a symbol of the weakness of democratic institutions that failed to develop, in time, mechanisms to control the eruption of hatred. Yet a fully controlled internet would lose its very essence. And a future of nothing but fakes — or nothing but truth — is equally impossible. They cannot survive in pure form. They feed on each other, reflecting the drama of modern human existence. — Andrzej Wajs, interviewed by Przemek Berg 📰 "E-prawda. Czy w cyfrowym świecie fałsz musi wygrać?" ("E-Truth. Must Falsehood Win in the Digital World?")
