Another iteration of my #sec project.
Turn massive map tilesets into bite-sized, geographically chunked blobs — served over #blossom and discovered via #nostr
> This enables us to host our own maps on low end hardware and share it with others if we chose to do so. We can also host "partial" maps if our space is scarce still enabling clients to stitch full world "quilts" out of multiple partial maps sources.
#mapnolia takes a #PMTiles archive, splits it into geohash regions, stores each chunk as a content-addressed blob, and publishes an index to Nostr relays. Clients fetch only the tiles they need for the area on screen.
🗺️ **Geohash chunking** — splits the world into regions, recursively subdivides large areas
📦 **Content-addressed storage** — every chunk is a standalone `.pmtiles` file identified by its SHA-256 hash
🌸 **Blossom protocol** — blobs served over HTTP with Range request support
📡 **Nostr discovery** — kind 34444 events announce the chunk index to any relay
⚡ **Single binary** — Go backend with embedded React dashboard, nothing else to deploy

earthly.city 🌍 is, in part, driven by a set of powerful 💪 @nprofile…g2s8 s in the backend. Technologies like this, in combination with #blossom and #pmtiles allow us to have interesting and novel user flows that the legacy #cucknet wouldn't allow.
These include datasets and maps that are unruggable, user-owned and, if chosen, offline.
All examples are live on #earthlycity and can be tried out.
A user creates his own map from the bounds of an existing FeatureCollection dataset and uses it as his base map (BYOB [Bring Your Own #blossom is coming soon...]):

I know this is considered a meme metric but I think this is more important than people realize. Isn't the withdrawal to your own wallet signalling intent for long term holding? I remember this phase myself when I was transitioning from a shitcoiner where you would let the #Bitcoin on an exchange "just in case" before really "getting it" and setting up a wallet. Especially in the age of MICA and heavy KYC having your 🌽 on a wallet creates a significant barrier for selling, effectively getting you out of the "dry tinder" cohort and increasing price stability.
