Last Notes npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick This account is quickly becoming nothing more than sharing quotes from Modern Chains lol. Can't recommend this enough to Bitcoiners or to any one who cherishes freedom. @nprofile…0w9j book is a game-changer. More from chapter 1: “Frederick Douglas, who endured actual chattel slavery, cautioned that if one man’s liberty is stolen, everyone’s freedom stands in peril” (14) “To understand the reality of modern bondage, we must first recognize that slavery’s essence lies not in its outward trappings, but in its universal form: the coerced extraction of productive energy. Whether achieved by physical force or through convoluted financial mechanisms, the moral wrong remains the same. Again, we are not equating every method of enslavement or minimizing past atrocities; rather, we set its matter aside to highlight its form. Slavery persists wherever a person’s energy, physically, intellectually, or financially, is coercively appropriated, destroying their human dignity, and used to enrich another” (15) “Modern slavery’s most pervasive weapon is the manipulation of the money supply. To be clear, not all price increases are immoral. Natural inflation can arise from extreme market disruptions: disasters, wars, or sudden changes in supply and demand. That is not our focus. The true menace is the deliberate expansion of the money supply: a grinding force of artificial inflation, engineered into our economic system by man’s hand. Consider that over the last forty-five years, the Federal Reserve has artificially expanded the overall money supply by a staggering 13,581%. This expansion, marketed as ‘stimulus,’ ‘growth,’ or ‘quantitative easing,’ diminished the purchasing power of every existing dollar” (23) “Every new conjured dollar dilutes purchasing power, effectively transferring wealth from the many to those few who create and receive the money first” (23) “Frederick Douglass famously observed the psychological divide that sustained slavery: the stratification between house slaves, those permitted relative comfort, and field slaves, those toiling under the lash. House slaves, enjoying proximity to power, better food, softer beds, and an occasional taste from the master’s table, saw themselves as separate from those working in the fields. This illusion of privilege bound them more tightly than chains ever could. It bred loyalty, not to justice or freedom, but to their masters and the system itself. Fearful of losing their fragile comforts, they resisted rebellion, preferring servitude with benefits over the uncertainty of true liberation” (25-26) https://blossom.primal.net/fb964b982502be330a9ffe37aa6541dde1aa6556ea652feab4e54f07c48a9612.jpg npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick This 4 minutes was some of the best stuff I’ve heard in a LONG time. Appreciate you blessing the timeline with it 🙏🏻 npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick I never recommend books before I finish reading them, but I have to make an exception for @nprofile…0w9j and his book Modern Chains. Only through the introduction (!!) and outside the Bible I think will be the most important book I’ve ever read to date. “Number go up” bitcoiners won’t be interested because they overlook the much more important moral and ethical foundations. However, the real ones will be thoroughly enriched through this book. I’ve never heard anyone make the moral and ethical case against our monetary system in clearer words that resonated in my bones. Couple short excerpts below from just the first 10 pages: “A person recognizes moral truth long before the mind untangles technical nuance” (!!) “Calling our system ‘broken’ surrenders moral clarity and obscures the deeper reality: the system functions precisely as designed, to dominate and extract human effort. The only things genuinely broken are the people it consumes and discards” “The ethics of money is not secondary: it takes precedence. Economics explains the ‘what,’ while morality defines the ‘why.’ Morality is primary: it takes precedence, comes first. Morality is the soil in which economic seeds are planted, and the quality of that soil determines the quality of the fruit” “We will avoid dense data sets and intricate financial models; instead, we will pull back the curtain on a fundamental issue; if a system forcibly extracts our productivity, then no amount of economic theory can redeem it” “Superficial analysis of economics alone cannot excavate the deeper moral foundation; for that we need a philosophical shovel” “Debasing the money debases human dignity; it stifles our freedom, and as this book will show, freedom is far more than a political ideal; it is the bedrock of our humanity” npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick Wow, that sentence is absolutely packed with truth npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick Great input. Especially on the void. I think many of us who want to contribute to Nostr have never been “content creators.” Cracks me up when I think I dropped some KNOWLEDGE and it literally gets zero traction. The humbling is good 😂 npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick Beautiful conversation @npub1dtg…up6m and @npub1cj8…rz4u Everything about this conversation resonated. Especially loved that idea of the SOVEREIGN COLLECTIVE. Never heard this term but man did it hit. Realized as I listened that having kids AND becoming a Bitcoiner at the same time really shifted my perspective in profound ways. I went from largely wanting to help individuals in my circle flourish (still true) to truly wanting the entire world to flourish. I also had a lot of shifts to a more holistic eschatology at the same time, which was a major contributor as well. Sometimes a new term or concept can make feelings that are deeply held, but hard to articulate a lot more concise and concrete. That’s exactly what the term sovereign collective did for me. Love that this pod is hilarious and yet still able to dive into some of the deepest, most important topics in generative ways. That’s a great combination to set you up for living life the fullest. https://fountain.fm/episode/wDgIrYWzEreIHUA202Kl #nevent1q…wqc3 npub1ka7qhgven2xrj634n5yreje0ch7uyfaly2ppqzs4ac8g9zx5ppnsfj5z0s Mick Great post
