Ok, so maybe no grade then.
You still need to evaluate how well a student is faring. Maybe grades aren't the best method because in many cases, there are students who receive their high school diploma without being able to properly read and write.

I don't really have preferences on letters or numbers for grades, but I do think they can help for student to understand if they need to put a bit more effort in their learning. I do think that grades need to be done in a way that helps students improve but not necessarily made to facilitate a teacher's job.

Perhaps if education was free there would be less incentive to cheat for good grades and more to learn?
No need to look at Europe for free college/university education, Mexico has it with its UNAM* network. Mexico is not a perfect country, far from it, but it does understand that education is primordial in society.

If not free, at least the focus should be more on public institutions than private ones.
Of course, that's a choice that society needs to make: do you want to have a couple of multibillionaires while other people can't properly buy food for their kids OR do you want a more balanced society where everyone pays for but also can benefit from services regardless of their economic status?

Well, Mexico has a much bigger military force in terms of soldiers than Canada and it is densely populated.
In contrast, Canada is 70% empty and we are heavily dependent on US military forces for our protection. It would be much easier for Trump to step on us than to step on Mexico.

I wouldn't be surprised if Poilievre was already preparing his political exit to become a political advisor in the US. He would promote himself as an expert with decades of experience in understanding the mechanisms of the Canadian government and how to use them to your advantage.

No, I'm being sincere. Carney is smart because instead of losing energy and time trying to explain something to people who don't want to hear complex explanations for complex problems, he's simply showing what happens, demonstrating that inflation was NOT caused by carbon pricing.

It's actually a great political move from Carney:
Since many people voted for Poilievre, Carney cannot disregard everything that Poilievre says but he can redirect Poilievre's attacks back to him.
Poilievre complained that carbon pricing was a cost for society. Instead of trying to explain the whole thing to Poilievre and his base (which frankly, are not even willing to learn about economy/finance), Carney simply did the most logical thing to do: remove carbon pricing and let the numbers speak for themselves. Surprise (no, it's not!), inflation didn't go down AND people are not receiving a carbon rebate anymore.
It essentially demonstrated to everyone that Poilievre is just an expert bullshiter.
The Liberals do not have a majority government (yet), but I wouldn't be surprised if carbon pricing was coming back after people, now seeing that it doesn't cause inflation, might be more willing to accept it.

The problem with a democratic system is the same as with the stock market: it is all based on the assumption that people will always inform themselves thoroughly before making a decision, and not simply be controlled by their emotions.
A democratic system works well when your population is intelligent (regardless of their level of education). We see in the US what happens when ignorance is glorified.

Both of them are about critical thinking. If someone is lacking in it, they might believe anything especially if it fits with their current view of the world (e.g., Liberals = bad, Taxes = bad, Banks = bad, etc.)

I know that BUT many BQ and NDP voters are voting for them because of their perception that the Liberals are bad and/or corrupted as if there was never any shady stuff happening in these two parties.
Besides, the BQ has nothing to do at the federal elections and many of its voters are doing it because of this false perception that "it gives them a voice" at the federal level. ALL MPs are regional as you mentioned so a Liberal MP from a Quebec circonscription is from QC.

I don't understand people who, at this point in time, would be voting for the NDP or the anti-Canadian BQ.
I know we live in a democracy, but let's be realistic for a second: If you vote for one of these 2 parties, you lower the chances of the Liberals winning over the Poilievre-led Conservatives. And if Poilievre wins, you let a populist politician with no understanding of the current economic crisis lead the country when this is the last thing we need right now.

If you Google the name of that "Canadian-American Georganne Burke, a staunch Trump supporter", you will quickly find that she's a lobbyist at Ottawa, working for the Pathway Group and described as "She has spent the past ten years in a variety of roles with the Conservative Party of Canada".
Is anyone still wondering if PP would be a good leader for Canada or sell the country out to the US?

Conservatives in Canada will always side with those against progressive values. Doesn't matter to them one bit if they are siding with the far-right movement or authoritarian governments who do not give a shit about human rights for everyone.

Thanks for the info. I had no clue about him. I've always been a "skeptical realist", especially with American populism gaining ground in Canada, I'm always skeptical of "outrageous images" in social media.
I guess in this case though, it's outrageously stupid from that guy to literally show his true colors...
I can't believe Canadians are falling for that, and Poilievre's rhetoric. On the other hand, I'm a Montrealer so we have Legault's populism here in Quebec. 🤡
