The thermal mass of the Superadobe walls was working well in late summer with highs in the low 90s - cool in the day and warm at night. It’s very cold now in the winter. Will be installing a heating system eventually and documenting the process

Yeah that’s the idea. Adobe/earth walls have thermal mass which acts as a battery, they heat up during the day then release heat at night. Will see how it performs

The Mojave Center, where I learned SuperAdobe, has built domes in tropical climates, so it is possible but I think there are extra considerations due to the moisture https://www.mojavecenter.org/

It's a mixture of 2/3rds site soil, 1/3 sand and about 10% cement. The site soil is high in clay which does not mix well with cement or water, which is why we added the sand. The bag itself is a plastic sandbag https://calearth.org/collections/superadobe-bags

The four photos that sum up 2025 for me. Friends old and new showed up in a huge way and made my dream a reality.
I’m declaring 2026 the year of the value for value economy. I’ve made sure that everyone who helps with the house has been compensated, either financially, educationally or with food 😋 This is a model that works and should be expanded to other people who want dome homes. We can create a win-win economy where the client and world ends up with something beautiful, and the creators are paid so they can spend more of their time building and making art. This is becoming more possible on the internet thanks to Nostr and the Bitcoin Lightning network, but it’s also a philosophy we can apply in our local communities, paying people who care instead of corporations that just care about their bottom line. We should all be able to make a living doing what we love, and I believe that is possible.
