It definitely seems like it was an overreaction to the announcement of the out-of-band offerings like Mara's SlipStream.
Was it really encouraging it though? Or was it hoping that those misusing other, non-pruneable fields like witness data would take the olive branch and move their data use there so at least it could be pruned by those not running full archival nodes? Again, probably another overreaction that came out of the temporary Ordinal craze.

Being personally disgusted is not implying anything.
He is very open that he believes the sole purpose of marriage is to bear children. Everything referenced are his words. Unfortunately, there are multiple states in the US that allow 15-year-olds to wed with parental or judicial consent. Best solution? You can make a case that implementing BIP-110 turns one problem into two or more.
Currently: "Spammer" creates one TX and puts data in op_return. Data gets pruned by non-archival nodes.
BIP-110: Instead of one TX with that op_return payload, they chunk it across multiple transactions and/or even worse, use fields outside of op_return.
Result: While you were aiming to save archival node bloat, you now introduce bloat elsewhere. First, if they use other fields like witness data, you now have UTXO bloat for data that cannot be pruned. Second, by forcing additional transactions to do the same work, you ramp up CPU/Memory overhead bloat, which could stress fringe (older hardware, RasPis, etc) endpoints.
Fees also likely increase because more transactions are being submitted driving up costs for those monetary transaction users. Look, do I want Bitcoin used for this shit? No. But do I get the technical realities and what Core hoped to accomplish? Yes.
If you believe I'm wrong with the above line of thinking, by all means set me straight.

There is some irony in your first statement based on the actions towards several Core developers over the last year. At least in their case, what they did (sic: their lifestyle) wouldn't constitute illegal activity.
As for the rest of your statement, that is a matter of opinion. Core ended up with v30 because non-monetary use cannot be stopped without a hard fork and completely redefining the script language. Luke has been working on the "spam issue" for 12+ years so if you have an actual solution, I'm sure he'd be all ears.
Miners started offering out-of-band services to include "spam" in blocks. This could make mining less fair and more centralized as people will just skip sending it to the entire network to have the opportunity to mine. Byproducts of everyone getting the opportunity means faster speed and more accurate fees.
Finally, everyone loves to throw out Bitcoin being permissionless and censorship resistant but certainly don't truly believe that. I'm not interested in centralizing development to one fucking lunatic so he can strip away what actually makes Bitcoin valuable.
TL;DR: Bitcoin's permissionless design, consensus rules, economic incentives, and the flexibility of its data structure and scripting system make it impossible to make eliminating "spam" a technical reality.

Start9 is saying it should work fine and my OS isn’t current. I checked that first and it said current so I may have bigger issues with my node.

An interesting anecdotal tidbit on the whole Core vs BIP-110 saga, especially if you use Start9 OS.
As you can see in the first screenshot, I do not have Knots installed. However, they are displaying it on the Updates tab which should be for installed packages only. They also don't allow you to update past Core 29.3.1. If you want to run a newer version, you are forced to sideload. You're telling me you couldn't ready a distribution package for something that has been out since October 2025?
Considering Start9 is basically the defacto recommendation to run nodes, suppressing default service versioning while recommending a non-installed version is antithetical to self sovereignty and freedom tech. "Start9: Sovereign Computing" is their tagline after all.
It also makes me understand why there many be so many Knots v29 nodes showing on Wicked's dashboard that haven't signaled for BIP-110.

Technically, miners do have a reason if they are completely self-serving. The "deterrent" could actually lead to them collecting more fees.
Someone posed a nonsense question (how much for a 101kb transaction) to me on X that I did the math on -- chart below. First, that never happens:
"Essentially 0%, overall and since Core v30 (Oct 2025).
Stats Sep 2025–Feb 2026: ~24.4M OP_RETURN txs, only 396 (~0.0016%) exceeded old 83B limit. Those averaged ~5.3KB; 10% >10KB. No 101KB+ seen (historical max ~80KB). Fees keep large ones rare.
But second, as I also said in response, Bitcoin is the only chain in the world that matters. If someone wants something stored in perpetuity, they're going to pay whatever the fee is to make it happen in the rare case. Now, they'll just chunk it out so it fits under Mein Führer Dash's permitted size limits.

One of @nprofile…w2ua Ego Death investors handwaved it away on X saying: "They’re using a minuscule amount of data inside the original OpReturn limits, to store a tiny fraction of data that ties to a hash that verifies the validity of very important information. It’s a massive service to validate real world data. There’s nothing “arbitrary” about it."
So as long as the arbitrary data fits according to the BIP-110 overlords specifications, it's okay. Apparently it only magically becomes "spam" when it is of a certain size. And to think... she told me it was a good size.

Which is still non-monetary use. Luke, Mechanic, et al have publicly stated multiple times Bitcoin should not be used for non-monetary transactions. They've also stated on Spaces they will continue to squeeze until they find a working solution. So they are the judge, jury and executioner of how block space can be used?
The ultimate point is BIP-110 solves nothing. Now instead of having the ability to prune that data out of the larger op_return, "bad actors" will be forced to chunk it across multiple fields/UTXOs which will then be immutable. I lose optionality as a node runner. So if they truly believed the CSAM talking point, they now guarantee it will exist.
Finally, it also keeps the same core issues they point to with the larger op_return field: 1) greater fees; and 2) blockchain bloat. When you mention this, they state the fees would then be the filter which is exactly what non BIP-110 people have been saying about the current implementation.

Either it is non-monetary spam or it's not. BIP-110 was explicitly designed to restrict non-monetary (arbitrary data storage) transactions on Bitcoin.
You don't get to be a proponent and then fund companies that are using the blockspace for non-monetary use cases.

Incorrect. The data migrates into fake public keys, spendable scripts, or whatever else they can code to accomplish the task.
BIP-110 devs have even stated this which is why they have the 1 year timebomb in their code. Luke's own words say it is a forced deadline/window to develop and deploy a better, longer-term solution.

Posted this on my X account so just dropping it here, too.
1) If BIP-110 does block spam (by their definition) by restricting arbitrary data at the consensus layer, does that actually eliminate spam or does it just mean those "bad actors" will chunk the data across multiple UTXOs?
2) If said bad actors do this, doesn't this mean that said UTXOs could potentially cause bloat since it will cause increased UTXOs to accomplish the same task while losing the OP_RETURN prunability?
3) Finally, since CSAM is used as the defacto illegal use case, does this also mean all nodes will now store said data with zero ability to remediate?
I believe the answer is yes to all three of these questions which renders BIP-110 as a technically insufficient solution. Look, do I think Core mishandled the rollout of their changes last year? Yep, most of the devs have the situational awareness and emotional intelligence of a banana peel. They placed zero value on social consensus and it has led us to where we are.
That said, I fully support BIP-110ers in their right to fight for what they believe in and to push for its implementation... if that’s what broader consensus in the Bitcoin ecosystem ultimately wants. BUT, be careful what you wish for, especially for those that have advocated for this solution via the CSAM angle.

Is quantum a threat to Bitcoin? Yep, eventually when it transcends beyond fucking theoreticals. They will tell you that the reason they're picking in Bitcoin is because it is decentralized and harder to get consensus for updating to PQC compliant solutions. Uh huh.
They keep making the assumption that all current centralized environments and systems will be upgraded well in advance. I've worked in corporate and government IT for nearly 3 decades. There are still environments out there running ancient unpatched and out-of-support Windows 95/7/10 devices in their environment because they have legacy applications that run their entire environments. Hell, even the government routinely misses NIST deadlines on getting shit patched.
On top of that, the 2024 NIST memo gave Government agencies until 2035 to have full transition. When they announced their PCQ standards in Aug 2024, they mentioned previous standards implementations take 10-20 years.
If there are vulnerable tradfi systems out there, they're getting the attention well before Bitcoin, especially Internet-facing servers and networks. If you crack SSL/TLS, you can run MITM attacks and basically turn anything compromised into a honeypot.
After that, nation states are sitting on decades worth of encrypted communications, files, etc. that they've got from intercepts and hacks. That's getting attention before Bitcoin, especially if the whole mempool attack is what they think will happen as all that does is either destroys Bitcoin or forces a fork and then your coins are worthless. Furthermore, now that Bitcoin is becoming more interwoven in tradfi, if a nation-state decided to do this, do we think the US is not likely to outsource them some good ole American freedom?
Only the elite tech firms or nation-states will likely have the technology when it actually comes to fruition. No company within their right mind is going to take that risk to attack Bitcoin and as I said above, fear of getting their paradise turned into a parking lot while likely turning any hacked Bitcoin worthless is simply not worth the investment.
Back to those grifters pushing for the quantum updates, always look to the incentives. Ask yourself why now? Why so fast? What may the ulterior motive be beyond the intended goal?

Been hearing from a lot of event runners that they are having issues selling through tix for Bitcoin Conference week happening next month. BSN cancelled their kickoff party, Bitcoin Treasury Network cancelled theirs as well.
Between BTC plummeting since 10/10, the whole Core vs BIP-110 community fracture and treasury companies absolutely wrecking people that invested, especially Bailey's own Nakamoto, I guess one could expect it.

This place still suffers from the same core issue it has had from the day I joined back in 2022. Big accounts are, by and large, one way participants in the ecosystem. They take, take, take and rarely give back.
If you are the swinging dick/tit in a niche, it's almost on you to lift up other accounts that are providing quality content/interactions and get them follows so content and reach compounds. The whole rising tide lifts all boats aphorism.
I've also said this a hundred times but damn near every person I've had try nostr will post and interact for a week or two, feel completely isolated because they get zero return fire, and then just fuck right back off to Twatter.

Go the decant route. I own over 250 bottles and I decant out a large portion of my collection. For super expensive stuff I don't want a whole bottle of, I buy decants.
For example, I decant Aventus in 5 and 10ML size. Each ML equates to about 10-12 sprays so I typically get a good 30-60 wears out of a 10ML decant depending on the type of fragrance -- some you just have to overspray because they're so light/weak.

My gratis bottle of Acqua di Gio Eau de Parfum Intense finally landed from Influenster. When a fragrance throws the word intense into the release, you have a reasonable expectation that it's, uh, well, INTENSE. Well, the chemical engineers over at Armani and I apparently don't see eye-to-eye in that arena.
So if you like the Acqua di Gio line, odds are you'll like this. The early reviews saying this was a modern Absolu aren't wrong, but just aren't quite right, either. You've probably got a 75% similarity to that discontinued gem (my favorite of the line) and then it hard veers like grandma's driving off to a fruiter less mineraly (is that even a word?) version where the green apple and woods remain -- almost a dead ringer for YSL Y EDP.
Back to the "intense" -- or lack there of. Unlike many of the AdG line that have excellent performance and radiate off my skin, this went from 100-to-skin scent in like 3-4 hours.
In the end, if you love the AdG line and want a greener version for your collection, it will fill that void. If not, I'd pass on this release as I think they've really missed the mark.

Yes, AI will lead to oversaturation. In an age of abundance, we're rapidly moving from scarcity of production to scarcity of attention. Being able to scale any business that is digital only is going to be damn near impossible.
That said, is scale the end all be all? There is something to be said for the potential of smaller, more intimate experiences. Maybe the focus should be on getting a core community of diehards that support the product/service and organically growing from there. Doing this should also theoretically build staying power.

Mandibles is an awful book. I know it's popular because @nprofile…cd8v loves it, but it's poorly written and almost every character lacks any redeeming qualities whatsoever except Willing. Would have much preferred the economic collapse being the shorter portion of the book and then more focus on the new frontier led by Will.

Does anyone else own a personal steam sauna? Has been my best purchase in 2026 by a mile. Got it off a local liquidation site for $40 to boot. If you want something to up your health and fitness game and have the space, I cannot recommend it enough.
That said, I would not buy any of them retail. Most of these are selling Chinese manufactured white label versions. You can find the same/similar models on Temu/DHGate/etc. for a fraction of the cost.

Just responded on another note but figured I'd toss one out there to see what people know of the other proposed solutions if/when the amalgamation of future tech really hits.
UBI = Fixed cash payments. I think everyone has heard of this one. Musk has since pivoted to call it Universal High Income but he never quite says how distribution will be achieved.
UBC (Compute) = Citizens are given compute credits from AI companies which they can either use or sell via a secondary market. Believe this one originates from Sam Altman.
UBE (Equities) = Citizens are given shares and/or dividends in publicly traded companies so the collective's income grows as the economy grows. How do you square that circle with regards to the "maximize shareholder value" mantra?
UBS (Services) = Citizens are given access to free services. For example, with AI and robotics, I think this could usher in a "universal healthcare" of sorts. Then the human touch could be a niche, higher cost option.
Was curious if anyone has heard of any other UBx type solutions? I think that is the much more fascinating and interesting thought exercise versus just focusing on how much displacement the future tech stack will displace.

While I appreciate your thoughts, no bull runs will occur off the backs of individuals -- it's just math. IMO, that was only possible during the foundational years and the early price run ups.
Once you hit a certain price level, new price discovery has to be done by purchases of large tranches at scale. That's only happening from those that you hate unfortunately.
Retail has largely left Bitcoin and you can make the case they simply do not need it to function as Internet money for them. They'll simply continue to use the tradfi services and then will pivot to stablecoin offerings as they are ushered that way.

Nobody will care no matter what nonsense they try to spew.
The reality is people care about the characters and stories so as long as that development is top tier quality, nobody gives a shit the origin. Moreover, since the barriers to entry are eliminated, that increased competition along with ease of access and lower marginal cost of technology, compute, and energy should make entertainment cheaper.
Focus on great stories and you win. It's that simple.

There has been a lot of talk about how SaaS is going to die because of AI. The reality is some will but some are fighting fire with fire.
First, if you've ever worked in large scale corporate or government IT, you know how entrenched it can get and how difficult it would be to switch. It can take months of enterprise review boards and change control meetings just to get a fucking field added to a form.
Second, some SaaS providers are giving significant discounts in exchange for signing long term contracts. Some are bundling new shiny AI modules into existing licensing agreements and some are even providing hundreds of professional development hours to implement so they can sink their hooks in deeper which then goes back to my first point. They are not going down without a fight.
Source: Me. I've seen two very large publicly traded companies do this within the last 6 months.

The goal is for more AI but it really hasn't started. We're also rehiring significant chunks -- at a premium because they come in with a shotgun versus doing any due diligence and going at it with a scalpel.

They are starting to rehire quite a few of them. The agency I'm involved with has seen several thousand in the last month alone.
The issue with the DOGE cuts is they were not done with any strategy and they lost a LOT of corporate knowledge. There are departments that have literally stopped moving for months because the leftovers had no idea what was going on. So now they're forced to rehire -- at a premium.
