Wer in Deutschland ein Haus, ein Auto oder eine Firma besitzt, hinterlässt eine Spur mit Namen. Grundbuch, Kfz-Register, Handelsregister. Manche davon kann jeder abfragen, der weiß, wo er klicken muss.

Chat control is back. Not through a clear yes, but through a procedural trick.
On 9 July the EU Parliament reinstated voluntary chat control (the expired interim regulation 2021/1232). The motion to reject it for good got 314 votes. It would have needed an absolute majority of 361. That majority was missing. So the proposal counts as adopted automatically. A rejected rejection that passes as approval.
One bright spot: the motion to explicitly exclude end-to-end encrypted content was adopted. Signal, Threema and other end-to-end encrypted messengers stay out of scope for now.
Context: this was only the temporary, voluntary rule. The permanent, mandatory chat control 2.0 (the CSA Regulation) is a separate process, still in trilogue. The client-side scanning mandate has been dropped from the Council position there, but mandatory scanning remains contested. That can shift again at any time, especially through the review clause left in the text. Next political trilogue: 29 September.
What you can do: write to your representatives. Sign petitions. Show up at protests. Educate. Yes, the system is corrupt and remote-controlled. You still use every tool you have. Giving up is not a strategy.

Chat control, take two.
On 7 July the EU Parliament pushed through a fast-track procedure by 331 to 304 votes (11 abstentions). Today, on the last sitting day before the summer recess, it votes on extending the voluntary Chat Control 1.0.
The procedural trick: in second reading the proposal counts as adopted unless at least 361 members actively vote against it. A simple majority is not enough to reject it. Right before the recess, with many already gone, that is a high bar.
For context, so nobody panics: today is about the voluntary derogation (1.0), the scanning of unencrypted messages at providers like Meta and Google. It is not the mandatory client-side scanning (2.0). End-to-end encrypted services like Signal and Threema are not affected, and an operating system like GrapheneOS even less so, it is not a service provider with servers to search.
The dangerous part (2.0, the CSA regulation) continues separately in trilogue. As of July 2026 the mandatory client-side scanning has been dropped from the draft, and a voluntary model is being negotiated. Signal president Whittaker has said Signal would leave the EU if the mandate returns.
The pattern matters more than the single vote: they keep voting and rewording until the result fits. Waiting for the state to protect your privacy is waiting in vain.

Chatkontrolle, zweiter Anlauf.
Am 7. Juli hat das EU-Parlament mit 331 zu 304 Stimmen (11 Enthaltungen) ein Eilverfahren durchgewunken. Heute, am letzten Sitzungstag vor der Sommerpause, wird über die Verlängerung der freiwilligen Chatkontrolle 1.0 abgestimmt.
Der Verfahrenstrick: In zweiter Lesung gilt der Vorschlag als angenommen, wenn nicht mindestens 361 Abgeordnete aktiv dagegen stimmen. Eine einfache Mehrheit reicht zur Ablehnung nicht. Kurz vor der Sommerpause, wenn viele schon abgereist sind, eine hohe Hürde.
Zur Einordnung, damit keine Panik entsteht: Heute geht es um die freiwillige Ausnahme (1.0), das Scannen unverschlüsselter Kommunikation bei Anbietern wie Meta und Google. Nicht um das verpflichtende Client-Side-Scanning (2.0). Ende-zu-Ende-verschlüsselte Dienste wie Signal und Threema sind davon nicht betroffen, und ein Betriebssystem wie GrapheneOS erst recht nicht, es ist kein Diensteanbieter mit Servern zum Durchsuchen.
Der gefährliche Teil (2.0, die CSA-Verordnung) läuft separat im Trilog weiter. Die Pflicht zum Client-Side-Scanning ist nach aktuellem Stand (Juli 2026) aus dem Entwurf gestrichen, verhandelt wird über eine freiwillige Lösung. Signal-Chefin Whittaker hat angekündigt, die EU zu verlassen, falls die Pflicht zurückkommt.
Wichtiger als das einzelne Votum ist das Muster: Es wird so lange abgestimmt und umformuliert, bis das Ergebnis passt. Wer darauf wartet, dass der Staat die eigene Privatsphäre schützt, wartet vergeblich.
Bau dein eigenes System, bevor es eng wird. Souveränes Handy, echtes Eigentum, Kommunikation, die niemand mitliest. Genau darum geht es in meinen zwei Büchern:

Der Staat will an deine Bitcoin.
Das Bundeskabinett hat am 6. Juli 2026 den Regierungsentwurf zum Bundeshaushalt 2027 beschlossen. Darin steht das Vorhaben: die einjährige Haltefrist streichen und Kryptowerte im Privatvermögen wie Aktien besteuern, also mit 26,375 Prozent Abgeltungsteuer, egal wie lange du hältst.
Damit keine Panik entsteht: Das ist ein Entwurf, kein Gesetz. Die Haltefrist gilt weiter. Ein echtes Steuergesetz müsste erst durch Bundestag und Bundesrat, frühestens zum 1. Januar 2027. In der Koalition ist der Punkt umstritten, die SPD will die Frist abschaffen, die Union will sie behalten.
Die größte offene Frage ist der Bestandsschutz. Für bereits steuerfreie Altbestände gibt es keine Regelung. Juristen verweisen auf den Vertrauensschutz des Bundesverfassungsgerichts, der eine echte Rückwirkung schwer macht. Sicher ist das nicht.
Bleib nicht still. Schreib deinem Wahlkreis-Abgeordneten eine sachliche Mail, unterschreib die Petition, organisiert euch als Bitcoiner. Andere Lager machen seit Jahrzehnten Druck auf die Politik und ziehen sie damit in ihre Richtung. Das System ist zu großen Teilen fremdgesteuert. Das ist kein Grund, nichts zu versuchen.
Die Lektion bleibt gleich. Wer nicht seine Keys hat, verhandelt jedes Jahr neu mit Leuten, die deine Ersparnisse als Haushaltsposten sehen. Selbstverwahrung ist kein Steuertrick. Sie ist die Voraussetzung für alles andere.

GrapheneOS hat alle aktiven Server aus Frankreich abgezogen. Grund: Das französische Gesetz kriminalisiert die Verweigerung der Herausgabe deiner Entschlüsselungs-Keys. Article 434-15-2 des Code pénal bedeutet Haft fürs Schweigen.
Ein Hardware Secure Element macht das Einschleusen persistenter Backdoors und das Brute-Forcen deiner Verschlüsselung deutlich schwerer. Es ist ein Root of Trust, keine magische Garantie. Frankreichs Forderung war also nie technisch. Sie war politisch.
Der Kampf um EU Chat Control ist nicht abstrakt. Er entscheidet, ob Europa Anbieter zwingt, deine privaten Nachrichten zu scannen und Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung von innen auszuhöhlen.
Betreib deine eigene Infrastruktur.

GrapheneOS pulled all active servers out of France. Reason: French law criminalizes refusing to hand over your decryption keys. Article 434-15-2 of the Code pénal means prison for staying silent.
A hardware secure element makes planting persistent backdoors and brute-forcing your encryption far harder. It is a root of trust, not a magic guarantee. So France's demand was never technical. It was political.
The EU Chat Control fight is not abstract. It decides whether Europe forces providers to scan your private messages and hollow out end-to-end encryption from the inside.
Run your own infrastructure.

Ich kenne auch einige Erdlinge die ihre Sats in normalen Brokern halten. Wenn diese dann von Bitcoin sprechen, erkläre ich ihnen immer, dass sie keinerlei Bitcoin besitzen. Er hat all seine Eigenschaften eingebüßt. Außerdem kann er jederzeit geklaut werden. Die Leute sind einfach für alles zu faul, und das endet irgendwann böse.
Eigene Node und Selbstverwahrung gehören dazu. Freiheit=Verantwortung

Es gibt auch viel zuviele Bitcoiner die auf Wahlen hoffen. Sie verstehen nicht, dass der Staat nur der sichtbare Wurmfortsatz eines Oligarchen Netzwerks ist, der durch Geheimdienste und Medien und purer Gewalt, sowie Zentralbanken steuert. Nach jeder Wahl stellen sie fest, dass alle Versprechen gebrochen werden und stecken ihre Hoffnung in eine andere Partei. Bis ihr Leben vorbei ist.

Wie Bitcoin wirklich funktioniert und was man damit machen kann, wissen die wenigsten. Die öffentliche Bitcoin Szene redet immer wieder um die gleichen Sachen. Es ist aber auch wichtig zu wissen, wie Nodes, Selbstverwahrung und auch Privacy funktionieren. Wie man P2P handelt und seine Sats mit Wasabi und Tails wieder anonymer macht. Es ist nicht nur wichtig sondern essenziell. Es witd viel zuviel über den Kurs und Saylor geredet. Darum gehts nicht. Es geht um Freiheit und um Schutz vor autoritären Regimen. Es geht um alles. 👽

The app is designed very minimally. It has no internet permission and cannot communicate with other services. It's perfect for tracking recurring fixed costs, subscriptions, insurance, and also one-time payments. But you have to enter everything yourself. What makes entering fixed costs is a one-time effort. You can create encrypted backups and use them for restoration. I built the app myself to avoid using web apps or banking apps. Instead, I keep my data entered offline and encrypted. It's a minimalistic app. So it's not super smart, but it is super secure. 👽

Most portfolio apps want an account, an email, often an exchange login. They pull prices from the network and store your holdings in the cloud. In the end a stranger's server knows more about your wealth than you would like.

Das Pflichtscanning wurde 2025 in „freiwillig" umbenannt. Experten sind sich einig: freiwillig unter Androhung von EU-Sperren und Milliardenstrafen ist kein Unterschied.
Signal drohte bereits, die EU zu verlassen.

Yes ! An English edition is coming. Can't give you a firm date yet (several parallel projects on my desk right
now), but it will happen, and I'll ping you when it drops.
Honestly: the interest from outside the German-speaking world means a lot. Tells me the topic resonates beyond
DACH.
