Whatever you call it, a recommender system like this naturally drives centralization. It doesn’t need to be (and shouldn’t) on the protocol level, though.

The real problem is the flip side of that — new users don’t know whom to follow.
IMO recommender algo is essential for large scale adoption, because it lowers the barrier to entry.

* Substack – Nostr + email distribution
* Reviews – think Amazon reviews or ZocDoc, but with Nostr pubkeys
* Podcast graph – each episode is a note tagged with guests & hosts pubkeys
* Meetup.com – host events & and mark "going"
