While you can travel from €49,90 in the 2nd class, I recommend at least once the 1st class Panorama Car. You have 23 intermediary stops, on a gorgeous route, but you can split it if those 9:31h are too much. It can also be taken from other stations, as I might give it a first try on the Innsbruck to Graz section. Anyway, back to the reservation. Select 1st class, click on "Seat reservation", then choose from "Select a coach" the Panorama car 1st class, and then the preferred seat if that's the case. Ticket + reservation, €82,90. https://image.nostr.build/e5cb7f79c74eeb16a4e3f3eca4e4388f8c0a9fddc5ba2ca1e0d4eb3762bfbff0.jpg https://image.nostr.build/e1b8b1b4918ed3d711ba8f0aac38eeb8bc2d601be2aceb3ee3619b40b13278e1.jpg https://image.nostr.build/6e8302dab2464879d77de3260365e23a0f60dd8eee98e1b5c97cc85f8b032e59.jpg https://image.nostr.build/510a429d2efc1d62f00da722041e11bffe0aa76d53f8b63876d3bccf16ad1039.jpg https://image.nostr.build/5d2ee115f414b13c8bd5622dcb1a3e8148499b6b3750384665c132e1d5a0ab0b.jpg https://image.nostr.build/a6f76496d867f426419035ea887434fc64a4464fba4fa25cd0f13ecb9d52f298.jpg https://image.nostr.build/645380c7569c6700e9d20c9f6907be43b4ef02b90bcd6cf9c9baf8b31c6aa434.jpg #nevent1q…h9wm npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr Only the locomotives are from ÖBB, the train is fully SBB. npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr I found out only recently that there's a Swiss panoramic option on Austria's territory but with almost no details. It doesn't pass through Vienna, and that's the reason it represented a total enigma. While this route is served by older trains, I can't complain at all. https://image.nostr.build/cc16787d7ad0f2a65061e51b42841189d69ed998ba642605d742969904f28981.jpg https://image.nostr.build/af68cea0ac783f24ee693a9ac4ba47dd8f9cfae9673e43c0053f6e4f899e26d5.jpg https://image.nostr.build/5240cce759ba3d1f847d4dd437e116c9b955b5bc7ed751538512286d21aa81d8.jpg In Milan, if you have an overnight stay close to the Milano Centrale train station and you don't want to venture too far, I recommend a food court right in the station's building. I'll add pictures as a reply. In the next days, I'll continue with the second leg, from Milan to Udine. npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr Deutsche Reichsbahn Class 41, No. 41 241, arriving at Apeldoorn Railway Station (Netherlands). #trainstr https://video.nostr.build/9dd6d9c9e0db949cd1632f6596f83ca5e9504352c40c932a4c5944cb0e3c8eac.mp4 npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr In the new 2026 travel plan that started on December 14, the Deutsche Bahn routes in cooperation with SNCF are as follows: Paris - Munich: 1/day, 5:45h (TGV) Paris - Berlin: 1/day, 3:15h (ICE) Paris - Stuttgart: 5/day, 3:15h (TGV) Paris - Frankfurt: 7/day, 3:50h (TGV/ICE) Paris - Karlsruhe: 8/day, 2:30h (TGV/ICE) Marseille - Frankfurt: 1/day, 7:45h (TGV) https://image.nostr.build/ad9b4fcbf56ee424a362427fb6587f5c5095d29556e0119b4327cb44b587f257.jpg npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr Since my main travelling countries are Austria, Italy and France, I want to present ways to reduce prices for families. It's one thing to buy a ticket for yourself, but the prices hit differently when you need to pay three or four times that price. In Austria, I recommend the ÖBB "Vorteilscard Family". You can buy it online for the price of €19 for an adult and its validity is one year. If the price isn't discounted (Sparschiene Ticket), the adults pay 50% while the kids travel for free. You still have to pay €3 to reserve the seats for adults when it's the case. As a practical example, our family of two adults and a child travels for the price of one adult. In France, you can use "Carte Avantage Adulte TGV INOUI", where it is enough to be purchased by only one of the two parents, for €49. It gives a 30% discount for you, 30% for an adult who accompanies you, and a 60% discount for kids. It also puts a cap on maximum prices that you can pay, so you should check it out before travelling to France. They also have a lot of regional solutions. With Italy, it's simpler because there's no need to pay extra. The family options are included in the total price if you search for them in advance because they apply for a limited time (eg, no less than 15 days for FRECCIAROSSA tickets). npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr I've been quiet lately because starting December 14, when the 2026 train schedule kicks in, there are some changes. Some bad, some good. We'll have a few routes cancelled for the night trains (Vienna - La Spezia, Vienna - Paris), but also better times towards the South since Koralm Railway will be ready by then, and it will allow quicker and more convenient routes, but also a rise in frequency. We have other good news from other countries, like Switzerland, for example, where the French TGV Lyria will have direct routes from Lausanne and Geneva to Marseille, but that will start in April. Other than that, if you are curious about a route and you have some rough dates, I should be able to help. Right now, I'm slightly interested in a trip to Italy, but in smaller cities like Rimini, Civitavecchia, Santa Marinella, etc. In the next days, I'll write something about cutting prices while travelling in/through Austria, especially with kids. npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr Copy/paste: "I won't focus on train reviews, the YouTube is full of them" npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr Where did I say about train pics? 😂 npub1evyxcs3l48qufa48pj4xeucwzxm9j2fzfvjk6mker5ezseerj75sjxfv4u Trainstr SNCF opens tomorrow the ticket sales for January 9 to March 29.
