Things are just humming along on wss://spatia-arcana.com . We have fun, intelligent, and fascinating members on our little growing tree, our first content bot (thanks @npub1fhp…ds8n 💜), some chill chat groups, nostr edu reading materials written by members, a beautiful collective kind 20 gallery, a couple books (thanks @npub1m3x…a5sf 💜), many ngit repos (thanks @npub180c…h6w6 💜), _mostly_ highly informative btc notes, lots of humor, lots of nature, art, and esoteric notes... and there are so many different quality ways to explore and interact with various parts of the community now.
After realizing that I could actually run a Pyramid relay, I wanted SpArc to serve as an example of how awesome Nostr could be and, thanks to everyone who's gotten involved, it has far exceeded my expectations in a mere 7 months. I have an underlying feeling that this is only the beginning. 😊

Further awesome things you get access to as a member are a small amount of Blossom storage, the ability to create and join chat groups, some cool group curation and restricted/private note stuff if you're into that, the ability to invite other people and a whole bunch of other special use case stuff.

Afterwards, you can use spatia-arcana.com as an outbox and use spatia-arcana.com/inbox for a public inbox and a dm relay. The inbox has a lot of spam protections in other clients but Amethyst kind of ignores it... but if you end up with a bunch of spam replies, it works great in many other clients.

I like it, too. I always thought the lack of client-side accessibility at the time, was the reason it didn't take off. People used to ask for this type of interaction quite often. A lot of those people have since quit and most current users seem pretty happy with their overall experience.

🫂 I understand. There have been many circumstances that have caused some of my favorite nostr people to quit. As dedicated as people such as ourselves are to the underlying cause, I believe the best thing we can do is to help prepare more fulfilling experiences for new arrivals and to take those experiences to the people we know. I know you have put in tons of effort to do exactly that. The tools to showcase that effort are improving daily. Please don't lose hope just yet, my friend.

I have noticed that the material artists I follow have been posting less, but the genres of photography and music seem to be increasing. Perhaps a motivated individual could create a space to bring those things together?
I don't know. I am hopeful that more of such initiatives can form and start bringing people into Nostr thtough spaces that resonate with their being.

I still get a little uncomfortable over coyotes, probably irrationally. There's huge packs running around the area where I walk daily. I'm sort of a tiny person so hypothetical scenerios run through my mind when I'm out walking and I hear them yipping and howling like maniacs. 😅

I grew up next to bison too... 2 small operations with 10-20 head each. At one of them, the guy spoiled his beasts. You could feed them and pet them but if you touched their heads they'd instinctually ram the fence. It was super scary. I remember once, I must have been about 5 years old, I was feeding his biggest bull some grass and he wrapped his tongue around my arm. It went all the way up to my shoulder. I freaked out and climbed up on my dad's back so fast that he still makes fun of me for it to this day. 😅

You've never struck me as a manual labor kind of guy...
with that aside, I think it's similar to building up immunity just like anything else. The more it happens the more proficient you become, being less likely to experience small injuries but also becoming sort of numb to them. In contrast, perhaps office work is responsible for less visible small health impacts, like the propensity to prepare boy dinners and question one's own handcraft capabilities?
Both clearly have their own longterm health impacts. Do you want to have a bad back from lifting too much or bad back from sitting too much?

My beef is the accelerant part... and the niche-specific part. A small subset of the herd is unintentionally redefining the language of the masses and its not necessarily homogemizing because of shared experience. The rapidity is the most concerning to me. We've seen how transportation efficiencies have eroded health and community. We've seen how food production efficiencies create imbalances between us and our habitats. We've seen how communication efficiencies reduce actionable virtue.
But even in all this, my concern only stretches as far as it does due to those communication efficiencies. Resistance to these newly elevated and very narrow meanings is common enough that I keep having variations of this same conversation, with an increasing number of people who are opting out of whatever the hell is happening. It's only inevitable insofar as a measureable portion of society allows it to be. In that sense, we'll end up with a digital dialect and a tangible one that only overlaps out of necessity, I guess, as things have always been.

You're not the only one who's noticing it. Mannerisms and speech patterns are changing along with typical topics of discussion. What's scary to me is that the definitions of words are changing, taking on different connotations or obscure field specific meanings, at a rapid rate, and the technology is driving it further to become the "normal"
