Starfleet Academy continues to win me over.
A show about a rebuilding era for a franchises's rebuilding era.
Going in I was worried it would end up being a show about Caleb the Marty Stu and generally reprising a bunch of the mistakes of Disco.
But no! The whole ensemble is getting used and all with their own focus featured and it's good. It's good.
I know that there's complaints asserting the characters talk like terminally online zoomers or something. But, like, I think that's just old men yelling at clouds. The main characters are all literally college freshman in their first semester. Like, do you expect them to act like Picard and McCoy? That would be so much weirder. Remember that episode of TNG where Picard gets Q'd back in time to when he was a cadet? Imagine a whole university of grandpas pretending to be teenagers. Yeah.

There are a few triggers sitting on the mantelpiece right now, and most of them pivot around the regime refusing to seat a state's duly elected representatives.
A military revolt against illegal orders / domestic deployments would be interesting too, but we don't have a good model for that in living history in the US. Vietnam-era fragging is something only remembered by a generation who are well removed from the current volunteer force.

Yes and no.
The regime has threatened large scale violence and military rule many times before, but this is a regime that talks big. Militarization of civilian federal law enforcement services will escalate, but I do not see armed conflict between federal and state power in our near future.
For it to happen, the US state governments will have to, at some point, put their money where their mouth is with regards to resistance. For now they've been content to wage a war of words and court papers.
When the regime's puppet Republican supreme court finally issues a ruling that enables full federal military rule over the country, only then will we know if our opposition/state level leaders have the stones to defy it with force.
Otherwise it's just waiting for them to try and overturn another election.

Seriously, though, I doubt he knows enough random medical jargon to mix the scans up.
Plus, he said it wasn't on his head, so it was DEFINITELY on his head. Which would be a totally routine scan to do as part of an annual physical on a patient who certain neurological events in their history.
Like, for example, a stroke. Maybe one that happened around labor day 2025...

... but are they actually making money? I was under the impression basically every AI company/service was only staying afloat by burning piles of venture capital money in the hopes of some future pivot to profitability.
My understanding is the only segment of this field actually turning a profit right now are the physical infrastructure vendors selling GPUs and servers, or contracted to build the data centers to house them.
