Today I learned about Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in deer. It is also known as zombie deer disease.
Basically a protein folds itself into the wrong shape and in this position it influences other proteins to also fold the same way. These are called prions and can be transmitted through touch.
Even in death the prions get absorbed in the ground and transferred into the vegetation which deer eat, causing them to get the disease.
There have been some suggestions that it may even affect humans in some way, like mad cow disease does. No definitive proof currently exists showing a link to human transmission.

Thanks to inspiration from @nprofile…kpge I have mined my first xmr with p2pool. Not saying its something I'll put capital in but learning a new system is still useful if for nothing else but a balanced perspective. Grabbed some old laptops and installed gupax. A little troubleshooting with the config file but over all not too bad!

Personally, I think the only solution is for every country to have a nuclear deterrent in case of violence and then to pivot hard into economic power. Transitioning into this will be problematic and you have to be concerned about the "mad king" problem, where a regime doesn't care about it's own survival. However, overtime I think the world will generally move towards this configuration slowly. Hopefully without issue.

How does someone provide evidence that you are sending it for btc? You send the fiat to another user but it isnt tied to a btc transaction.. it just looks like a single cash transaction.

If you are paying them fiat you just document it for a service. The coin and the fiat are seperated. Send to them through strike and receive btc through another wallet or ln node.

I think the beauty is the tech can be forked and is open source. That means even if someone owns it all, anyone can duplicate it and send it out into the wild. Sure it wont have the same network power and fiat value but if no btc is circulating, a duplication at least could re-establish a circulating supply among plebs. Obviously at this point the project failed and its not ideal but at least options for self sovereignty will always remain now that the option exists.

Maybe you know something about this. I have a co-worker who is licensed by the state of SC. He told me if he makes one mistake in any of his legal opinions, the licensing body will take away his license permanently. Sounds stressful.. Yes I think this is one of the most difficult parts. Everyone wants to buy the house which will appreciate in value but to do so requires the mortgage. Now you're locked in for 30 years working the job to keep making payments. No more room for btc at that point except for the leftovers.
But if you rent, no asset appreciation in your favor.. and they still charge the price of a mortgage. Guess you have to rough it until you can afford a full price or homestead it in the styx until you have enough to secure something at full price.

In the past with the taproot soft fork it appeared that it was not an easy process to move ahead to activation. This increased my confidence towards bitcoin's stability, even after the spam bug was introduced.
Now with BIP-110 I can see that there is actually almost no restriction on pushing a hasty fork through the process. Its crazy how fast this has moved.
My two additional thoughts are:
1. If the rules allow this sort of action then it is a legit action, but perhaps a short-sighted design.
2. It is foolish to assume that if the option exists then it won' be used. You see the same thing in politics all the time i.e. the recently redistricting fights that were going on last year.
In the great game there is no morality. If you have options that are an advantage then you use them. Bitcoin is no different. My hope is that this leads to a variety of implementations and at least breaks up the software landscape.
