citrea was definitely used as an example in their debates tho. the reason they gave for not putting a new cap on OP_RETURN is very weak and self contradictory tho. that's why i said it was an error imo.

i think not even that is entirely true, but at least partially true.
Antoine wanted citrea to use OP_RETURN, citrea was reluctant to admit they could be bullied into using large OP_RETURNs.
the core devs understood the underlying incentive problem. and they wanted to get rid of it. and so far so good. but then they made an error in reasoning. instead of increasing the default to a level safely above the incentive misalignment (160 or 200 bytes of payload), they assumed this would be a never ending story and decided to remove the setting.

citrea revealed that they dgaf (as they stated), it does not matter to them. their software runs with v29 just fine.
even if you wouldn't take their word for it. citrea also stated that the transaction in question would almost never occur anyhow. so the core devs would have tossed out the proposal if it was _just_ for citrea.
now if you want to blame core devs for making a wrong call, that's a different story. but then you kinda should let go of this nonsense angle.

a game theoretically stable system has no incentive to cheat. that's what we are trying to build on bitcoin as "layers". but the moment some actor can print their own money by pledging non existing sats to their clients, there is a huge incentive to cheat. a lot of money and wealth to make.
i'm not gonna argue that unilateral exit does not fail at the extreme edge of centralization and everyone needing to exit all at once. i think the math is simple there. however that's a pretty drastic assumption. why would everyone need to exit all at once?
an other way to think about this is covenant pools fall back to trust and a custodial relationship in all but name at the extreme end of black swans and it's temporary. how is that an argument in favor of not even attempting it and instead coping about custodial scaling?

some people may think credit networks will be an alternative to banking. but the original relationship between banks is a decentralized credit network. the whole thing naturally and gradually centralized and that's how we got to this shit today.
you may look at "p2p" credit as something between people sovereign individuals who know and trust each other. problem is that's mentally exhausting even if the tech helps with impeccable accounting. the fact that someone owes you and something can happen to them is a drain on your energy.
so it will naturally trend towards a "b2b" as in bank-to-bank relationship with neo-banks and other money service providers. this is the inevitable end-game. and when banks use credit networks to settle among each other, you have finally left behind all pretenses to on-chain scarcity.

back in 2017-2018 the cashies kept saying this is how "lightning" will end up. a network routing IOUs. some even went as far as to claim HTLCs are IOUs. but there is a huge difference. and it's a very important difference.

obviously there are levels of trust in every interaction yadda yadda... the important distinction is will the protocol be actually constrained by the on-chain supply or not?
credit networks with ecash mints will not be in any way constrained by what is going on on-chain. credit ecash spent via lightning is absolutely constrained by what exists on-chain.
Ark and other covenant pool constructs and rollups can not double pledge sats, every satoshi is expressed on-chain. and i know for a fact there is an easy magnitude of scaling there. with a level of trust (it's not completely trustless) but no perverse incentives and no capability to issue paper bitcoin IOUs.
trust is not inherently evil, but fall-back on settlment without trust and unilateral exit capability are necessary, not optional.

but that's not what's going to happen. yes there will be credit network emerging to solve the liquidity issues with lightning and ecash mints and other custodians will start using it for their transfers and "settlements".

my interest in credit money is purely academic at this point and conditional to us figuring out we need an elastic money supply for a real world economy to function.
it's possible we are going to need it, but we should not capitulate just because scaling ownership without custodians and IOUs is a technical challenge.

i'm in the hardcore anti-spam camp. i don't think that the purpose of bitcoin is to be a forever replicated decentralized arbitrary data dump, and i don't think we should be incentivizing that use. i just totally disagree with the filter camp on what to do about it.
i think we should be going after the very motivation for inscribing garbage on chain. but sadly very few think like me.

it was also a black dude that actually tried first aid. it's possible the two people there did not realize at first that she was murdered. because at first it looks like her nose is bleeding or something, only when she goes down a few seconds later you would think yep that's a carotid artery hit. and if you realize that, you know her chances of survival are close to zero. people trained to will still do the steps try to put pressure on etc. untrained people will not likely to know what to do aside from gawking they will only start moving if someone orders them.
