Take the time to compare and appreciate the two different leathers in their own ways.There's very little finish on the orange one. You're very very close to the hide itself. You can really each details of the hide. Every single hide is unique. And not only because the color of the tannage is random but because God made that randomness. That randomness itself came from life. I'm going a bit far with that 😂 but the point is that the goat is artisan grade tannage. It's rare. It's very real and very Bitcoin imo.
Never let them touch each other. The goat hide attracts the oils of the pueblo and it darkens the orange.

I'm fascinated by the fact the if the first 7 bits of your last words are 1 it's very easy to guess which word it is without a checksum calculator. But if they are zeroes it's a needle in the haystack.
I don't think it means anything but I think about it.

@nprofile…rhqt using the binary sheet was not as painful as I had imagined. I wish I times myself but it didn't feel that long. Once you learn how to read the sheet it becomes somewhat easy to find the correct words. I made a completely new seed using the same randomness as the first one. Just a different reading order.

Just tested this. It's basically a simpler tailsOS. Instead of running a checksum app in tailsOS, you simply run TinfoilOS. It works very well. Now in this I want an option to add 11 words plus 7 bits of entropy from my modulo and have it find the last word from the 4 bit checksum.

But both solutions aren't in the same category imo. Modulo in his a category of its own.
It's not just a simple seed plate. It's a tool to generate AND preserve randomness. Not only that but I recently realized in each Modulo you can easily read 16 different seeds just by reading it differently. And after that if you really want to be sure nothing stop you from creating a backup on a seed plate.
I like the fact that Modulo keep proof of the entropy. I'm not sure I'm going to use the world well but you'll probably understand what I mean: proof of entropy feels like a first principle approach to cryptographic key holding.

I don't really have a problem trusting the device for this as long as it's never connected to the Internet. The problem with an MK4 is the the process to go and try each of them is very painful. The keyboard dosent work very well and you have to go through a lot of clicks just to find your word.
Also, I might be wrong, but it seemed to me like there was more than 16 choices. But I didn't investigate all available letters so not 100 sure. Either way it's not a fun way or practical way to do it.

I just didn't care enough. I was looking for a quick and easy way to earn money online. I saw something about Bitcoin mining, tried to have my computer mining but gave up when it didn't work within my first few tries. That's where I am right now. Seedsigner is currently the only thing I'd feel very confident in recommending. There's other valid options but it comes with some uncertainty. You can't really go wrong doing it with a seedsigner but you might go wrong doing it on your computer.

I haven't seen many people share this sentiment but what happened with Coinkite sucks. I mean beyond the entropy tragedy, this sucks.
I understand a lot of people hate the guys behind it, but if we forget their personality for a second, these guys were amazing products builders. The best in the game imo. Hands down.

The brand. The brand itself was so beautiful. The logo, the name, the mission. It was all perfect. Coinkite was a Mona Lisa. Just imagine what coinkite could've been in 50 years had they not commit an irreparable mistake.
Don't jump on my throat. All I'm saying is that I would've preferred a Bitcoin ecosystem with the Coinkite brand around.

I think the most fundamental lesson of this fiasco is to take entropy generation very seriously AND TO DO IT YOURSELF. Don't trust an electronic device for this.
I don't think the lesson is to simply trust an other device. I don't think the lesson is to completely drop the idea of a HWW that secure a seed (as opposed to a solution like seedsigner). I don't think the lesson is that podcasters with sponsors are evil.
The lesson is *generate a seed yourself*.
Tho I do understand if your next lesson is to simply not trust these devices at all from now on.

I don't think someone is responsible 100% for every outcome happening with a product.
For example, if I shill the new Toyota on my podcast because I like Toyota, I use one and I'm paid to promote it, I don't believe I should be held responsible because this specific new model had a flaw in it that led people to die in car accidents.
We're probably mostly on the same page. I'm not saying there's absolutely zero responsibility or anything to learn from that and things to change but my focus is really not on blaming podcasters for that. Especially so when it is not really the device itself that failed at protecting the seed but one (very important) feature that was flawed.
