Interesting that it was written in 1948. It's on an escalating scale. Even though war might not be close by (yet), we now have denialism, misinformation and overall stupidity to add to humanity's incapability to communicate.

When corporations talk about caring for the climate, their talk is about as realistic as a pink rhino with wings.
They ONLY care about making as much money as possible before it all falls apart. They care about no one but themselves, in classic Trumpian style.
They believe that those piles of money will buy them protection where there will be none, and resources where, also, there will be none.
Believing money will provide them with survival, coincidentally, is very much like believing in a pink rhino with wings.

I have a lot of respect for China (but not the CCP obviously).
Their inroads into the US economy over the last few decades (tech, financial, real estate, manufacturing) sectors would make a war with them exceedingly complex.
If the US is thinking "boots on the ground" war, China is thinking "let's take them over from within first... boots on the ground last".
The US is pretty far behind with multi-faceted strategy scenarios in this case.
