One week of trail cam pics and 7 different kinds of animals! Only caught a glimpse of a deer, but got some great shots of a bobcat! We chose this spot to set up the camera because there was lots of scat right there. You'll see! 😄💩

GM, I have stacks of garden maps and garden journals. My memory is not cut out for remembering all of the plants and places. I keep all of the tags that come with them too. All of that info has come in handy many, many times. Plus, it is neat to look back over the years and see all that has changed and presumably gotten better.

I grew them. They are gourds. They look like zucchinis. When they are young, you can eat them, although the one time I tried them, I didn't like them. When they are fully grown they form all of these strong fibers. You can then peel them, clean out all of the seeds and goop, and then dry them. Then you can use them for scrubby sponges.

Today I took a few of my luffas to shop in town to sell for me. Out of that giant haul that I had, I only had a few that made it all the way to maturity. Baker Creek just came out with a different variety that has a 100 day maturity instead of 130 days. I'm hoping my harvest is more successful next year! And I am hoping these sell quickly!

Yesterday morning, I was still in my nightgown and had just finished my coffee when I heard a tractor outside. We had asked our neighbor to help us move the chicken coop. He just asked if we would be home that day. Anyways, after quickly getting dressed the chicken coop got successfully moved to its new home so that it can become a tack shed. I am so grateful for our awesome neighbors. Now, I just have to train them all to call before they come over, especially in the mornings! 😃💤

Yesterday we got our railroad ties in place and leveled to move this little chicken coop from the top of the hill down to where we can repurpose it for a tack room. Leveling things (especially giant heavy things) is one of the most tedious parts of construction. I am probably a bit more proud of ourselves than I ought to be. ☺️

Ok, I lied. One more. I made my outside cat a house. Here is a small one from last year. You peel them, clean off all the goo and get out as many seeds as you can. Then you dry them. I use them to scrub dishes, sinks, tubs, humans, etc... They last FOREVER! Supposably you can eat them like zucchinis when they are really small. I tried them once and they were super bitter, so I haven't tried again.
