Let do something quite unpopular nowadays. Let's do some maths!
Screw dice, let's say you have an imperfect coin. 75% heads, 25% tails. According to log calcs, you still have 0.811 bits of entropy, against 1 bit with a perfect coin (50% heads 50% tails). So you toss the shitty biased coin 256 times. That still gives you 256x0.811=200ish bits of entropy. That still puts you in a much much stronger position than some poor fucker with 40 bits of entropy.
Moral of the story is, do more maths. Less coding!
My only fear with the return to dice is some peeps will think they can generate the randomness themselves. Please, if you think this, first look up 'brainflayer' on github, a private key bruteforcer of brainwallets back in the day.

I used to use a pi and an offline electrum wallet to sign tx offline back before I bought a trezor. After all this time, I'm now told that this is the best way to do it. Moral of this story is - trust your instincts, fuck the experts.
And if some tries to tell me that rolling dice to generate entropy is too difficult for a dickhead like me, I fully intend to ignore the prick.

Whilst it sucks for those affected, its not as bad as:
(1) Mtgox hack. 80% of global btc trading happened through gox and 6% of all bitcoins in circulation were stolen. BTC price collapsed roughly 50%.
(2) Bitfinex Hack. 120000 btc stolen. All customers had to take an account balance haircut of 35%. BTC price collapsed 20%.
To me this is similar - but worse than - the milksad bug. How bad it will be for the market will depend on (a) Coldcard's reaction to those who have lost funds and (b) how quickly Coldcard's customers move their funds to secure addresses.

Sorry not to be a part of this. I would have joined in but I'd need to buy an actual CD burner/player +CD's and in the end that's what stopped me participating. How did the PO box situation work out (ie are most people using them rather than home addresses?). I quite like the idea you see and think it would be good to do something similar with books.

I'd be interested in others thoughts on this too. I've never bought a pre-installed linux desk or laptop, I've always just set up usb bootstick. I've assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that I'm paying for someone else to do this and would rather avoid that. But the last occasion I bought a shit laptop off amazon, it was a pain in the arse (for a change), getting the keyboard to work with ubuntu. Buying for my 7 year old soon very soon, if you know a good uk deal, lemme know.

The Thursday I've got a work do but I'm tempted to sack it off and head to the smac. In any case I'll do my best to get out for one of the events, if not both. Bitcoin doesn't make poverty obsolete. It doesn't change that equation at all. Its an enabling technology that gives more power and freedom to the individual (that individual could be rich or poor). It can protect them from inflation, gives them access to financial services (remittances etc) that they otherwise might not have had, and helps to prevent governments/corporations censoring their transactions.
It doesn't automagically prevent rich people from getting richer and richer.

Its trivial to determine the day of the week from the date if you just remember this number:
0336 1462 5035. (Month Code).
Take any date
month day
+ month code
+ last two digits year
+ integerpart(last two digits year/4)
-1 (century code).
Then divide by 7 and find remainder. 0=Sunday, 1=Monday, 2=Tuesday etc etc.
e.g. 22nd May 2010.
22+1+10+2-1=34
remainder 6 after dividing by 7 so this was a Saturday.
e.g. 14th March 2007.
14+3+7+1-1=24
remainder is 3 after dividing by 7 so this was a Wednesday.
For dates in the 2000's we subtract one from the end. But its even easier for the 1900's as we don't need to subtract anything. eg.
20th July 1987
20+6+87+21 = 134
remainder is 1 when dividing by 7 so the day was a Monday.

But fundamentally, fuck youtube, seek out and use other platforms. Like Nostr for example.

I've really struggled to sort out alby with primal after updating my node so I feel your pain. In the end, I found that using Iris.to instead of primal seemed to fix my problem.
