There are a lot of shit bags in the military. They are often either blue falcons (buddy fuckers) who will dick you over to make themselves look good, or are lazy fucks who skate at every opportunity. When I was in, I often said the guys often getting promoted were the ones that needed out, and thay drove the ones who should have been promoted to leave at their EAOS. The entire thing has always been an ass backwards cluster fuck.
There were also the types that really — and I mean REALLY — just wanted to fucking kill someone... Most of them probably just talked a big game, but some were legitimate psychopaths... And a lot of these types were the blue falcons that got to senior ranks. Meaning they're the evil fucks perpetuating the lies and propaganda down to the grunts to condition them into believing an offensive is somehow defending 'Merica!
Sadly, very few come out of the military knowing how fucked everything is. They see past the brainwashing from boot camp, the propaganda in message traffic, and the bullshit of everything. This is a very vocal minority, but a minority nonetheless. Most of the kids going into this war with Iran (and just like every other war) deep down know it is wrong, but are too scared to question anything. They're servile dogs beaten into submission. I've seen it... And for a time, I was one.
For so long, "service members" have been considered sacred cows... They're the walking embodiment of "just following orders." Those at the top should absolutely be shunned and ostracized for the evil they commit (e.g. lying to brainwashed kids to kill people). The senior enlisted often are right along with them. The grunts... Those at the bottom that often get killed need to be awoken, but are not free from ostracism.
Remember Morpheus's monologue with Neo during the woman in the red dress simulation? "[They are] the very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy." Many of them do not want to fight, but do anyway out of fear. Many want to fight because they want to kill people. And many want to use others to kill people for them.
We should not be automatically supporting the troops by default. I've often said we should judge individuals, and not lay blanket condemnation against groups. I still believe that, but until your actions show me honor (true honor, not the military bullshit honor), you will not get my respect or support by default. The honorable thing to do if you're being ordered to Iran is to go UA/AWOL and/or become a conscientious objector. Yes it's a hard choice, but only because they've repeatedly beaten you into submission, and warped your sense of good and evil. The morally good thing to do when given the choice (and yes, following orders is a choice) to murder someone or not is to not murder them. Full stop.
The sacred cow status of the military needs to be stripped in full.

My wife just legally changed her name back to her maiden name because of fears she has about the SAVE Act. It doesn't matter at all to me since I don't vote, but she claimed that the bill requires the ID to be presented to explicitly state if someone is a citizen, and if such indications are not present (which are not on Texas Drivers Licenses, like with most other states), additional documentation such as a birth certificate are required. Her name on her Passport (slave travel approval document) and Social Security Card never got changed when we got married, which is why she made the switch back at the Texas DPS...
I looked up the bill, and sure as shit, there it is. The ID you use to vote MUST indicate that you are a citizen. If not, you better have your birth certificate with you, or other documentation.
The state is growing, conservatives are cheering... But at least we are scapegoating them illegals like good little slaves!

This Thanksgiving, I am incredibly thankful. I have a beautiful wife, three pibbles, and two birbs that I love so very much. I also am thankful for:
- Privacy technology which allow for financial transactions and communications that makes the surveillance state have to work just a little bit harder,
- Ghost guns which the state has a harder time tracking accurately,
- The Black Market (aka the TRUE free market) and the ingenuity of entrepreneurs who operate outside the law, providing goods and services that the government has deemed "too dangerous" for us to handle ourselves,

- And finally, I'm thankful for the inefficiency of government and their sheer incompetence. If they were actually good at being tyrants, we'd all be in a lot more trouble. Well, my Linux system is pissing me off. I'm running Kali (no, I'm not cool enough to know how. It's what I taught myself on because I wanted to learn hacking). I just updated everything after a couple months, and as happens with rolling releases, my shit's fucked.
I thought it was my nvidia drivers, because that's what it always is... My system wouldn't boot after the update. I'd get past GRUB, and but the Kali splash screen would never come up. Just black with the flashing cursor in the corner taunting me. I could only get in via root login in rescue mode. I should have been tipped off that my network manager hadn't started and I had to configure my network every time I rebooted, but I didn't even think about it. I purged and reinstalled the nvidia drivers, tried to downgrade, and all the things. Nothing worked. Then I went through the logs, and everything indicated that my drivers were loading as they should...
I asked Venice AI for some help, and it confirmed my logs indicated the drivers were loading. It actually suggested something very helpful... Install Openbox and see what happens.... And holy shit, I got a window manager, and no more TTY!
Did some more recommendations of looking at some logs, and then it said I should purge systemd and reinstall... Of course I'm not that retarded. I didn't do that. I got it to ask me to check my dbus daemon, and found that it wasn't started. Neither the dbus.service nor the dbus.socket were active. I could manually start them, but they aren't starting during boot.
And this is where I quit for now because my brain hurts, and I will throw my monitor across the room if I keep working tonight.
