This was in San Fransisco (???) Canyon, so pretty shielded from the wind. IIRC the tree was also pretty rotten / dead standing with bark still on it. Stuck my hand out to lean against a similar size tree and it didn't even offer any resistance: it just went. I was at the back of a large group of people and, very luckily, it fell away from them. And, as always this time of year, it was a bonanza of edible mushrooms. Chicken of the woods, cinnabar chanterelle, and regular chanterelle. I really miss living in that neighberhood and town, but got priced out. But at least I got dinner tonight. #fungi
