I tried a handful of versions to no avail and eventually had GitHub CI build Ghidra for me.
I just find Gradle to be a hellhole.

The current version of Gradle in Ubuntu (Pop!_OS for me) is some 4.4 release ... which is from December 2017. Yes, 9 years old!
I get the idea of "stability", but this is far beyond reasonable. It's great that I can build ancient software with this still today, but I can't build anything even somewhat recent.
So my `~/bin/` keeps piling up more and more stuff because of this.

I hate to break it to you, but no, #Unix is really not that great, any there are tons of potholes all over its twisted roads.
The #myth that Unix and everything else that came out of Bell Labs would be the best thing ever and their employees were literal gods shows quite some ignorance.
That is, I'm not saying they didn't invent great things for that time or in general.
I'm just saying that randomly hating on other things has absolutely no merit.

AMI has been the largest "independent" firmware vendor for quite some years.
One competitor was Phoenix, just acquired by Lenovo.
Only Insyde is left, having grown again over the years.
Those were the big three; all their stuff has been proprietary, NDA-driven business behind closed doors, providing barely acceptable (or worse) firmware for almost all laptop, server and desktop systems.
So now it's time for smaller firmware vendors to grow and provide better quality services.

Idea: map of conferences
Some people track conferences they want to attend in calendars.
What if you could also explore a map to find interesting events nearby?
Markers would have a link, an icon and a label.
The link could point to a calendar entry in turn.
I bet that already exists somehow, but I don't see it much.
E.g. the Rust website could have that for all Rust conferences.
Or CCC for all the hacking community events in Germany.
DebConf, which moves around, to keep track of that history.

I think we're not far away from that.
LineageOS et al already show that building AOSP is generally feasible, though it does require at least 64GB of RAM, some terabyte(s) of storage and best lots of processing cores/threads (last time I checked the AOSP docs).
Plus, some vendor kernels are really messy; the Amlogic one for Android TV (in Google's own repos) had a few hundred #if AMLOGIC instances, even in mm/ when I checked about two years ago. 😅
Maybe upstream is complete enough now.

There may be such botnets and the devices are of horrible quality, but just hating on China is too easy. That's all I gotta say here.
As y'all know, I have taken apart and looked into hundreds of such gadgets, including cameras and TV boxes.

As easy as it is to hate on China, let's please recheck. They are behind their firewall that renders anything unusable or at least close to unusable that is connecting from outside to inside and vice versa.
