UK. Six weeks until Sept 1st. Do you have fewer holidays through the school year? We have 2 weeks off at Christmas and Easter and then 3 x 1 week half-term holidays in October, February and May.

I suspect his worry is a sign of how much he loves you? (I show love this way too.) You may be able to allay his fears by showing him you have a plan in place. Spreadsheet of essential expenses and nice-to-haves vs income or similar? Sometimes something concrete is helpful. Sending you three my love from rainy England. Life is not easy to navigate sometimes.

To your point, this is the scaffolding inside Salisbury Cathedral spire that has been there since the 14th century! Extraordinary sight. If you are ever in the area and can get on a tower tour, I highly recommend doing so.

I was awed by the scope and detail of it. It is a totally immersed other-world. I just read that this book took her 10 years to write, and that makes sense.

Pathetic in size in comparison at 782pp, but for me, “Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell”. What a wild magical ride it is - loved it! Just read this fun fact about it on Wikipedia: (the publishers) Bloomsbury were so sure of its success that they printed 250,000 hardcover copies!

Are you familiar with the British Christmas treat, the wonderful mince pie? Spiced raisins and currants with fat, alcohol (optional) and sugar, baked in a little crumbly tart case (ideally about a mouthful each). Serve with a bit of brandy cream. Or just as they are.
