Last Notes npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’d be curious about this as well. Been watching that project but haven’t installed yet. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Biological life is a dissipative structure, constantly working to achieve alignment with the cosmic flow of energy, and this truly is what life is all about. This is true both at the cellular level, and at the individual human level. Life is centered around the pursuit of that proper energy flow, that alignment with what is most efficient, that balance that optimizes the flourishing of life. This we experience as good, meaningful, and love. It is a kind of journey that involves self-realization through constant discipline and devotion. That self-realization is achieved by constantly reiterating upon our relationships, whether those relationships be with nature, with ourselves, with our family, with our friends, or society: all of which culminate in a relationship with the holy. Most of the grand questions regarding this holy subject, and the discussions that have happened throughout time, come down to how one should pursue this path. How does one find that self-realization? How do we properly align ourselves with the flow of the divine? What is the proper relationship? In meditation, which can be articulated as the practice of altering one's relationship with the mind, one works on having a single pointed focus, usually upon the breath, that aims to adjust the relationship one has with their interpretation of their thoughts. Typically, we see the mind as us: all the thoughts that bounce around and present themselves in front of our living experience are interpreted to be our thoughts, but that is the maya. Through attention towards the breath, or some other kind of focal point, one can learn to recognize that the thoughts that appear are simply thoughts. One learns to dereify these thoughts, and slowly but surely a different relationship with the mind forms, a different relationship with the self appears, and the identification of the true Self begins to emerge. Through attention to our own mind-body, we not only help align ourselves with the cosmic order, but in doing so realize who we are. We achieve health, wellness, well-being, and greater clarity all at the same time. Proper alignment and self-realization go hand in hand, and they are achieved through the time and energy of our attention. In this way, one can notice that attention is akin to worship. What we give our attention and energy to is what becomes of us. Are we attending to our indulgences of the narrative self, or are we attending to our breath and finding the Self underneath it all. Are we attending to our bodies and spending time outside, or are we feeding our desires by being indoors on our devices? Are we giving our attention to aligning ourselves with the flow, or to that which takes us away from it? The disciplinary worship that demands our attention helps us stay on the path. What we pay attention to, day by day, is what we give our energy and time to, and that energy is either directed properly or improperly. Proper worship can lead one towards the light, health, freedom, and prosperity, and improper attention can lead one astray towards disease, disaster, and dismay. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Hey @nprofile…3a2l , is this from a book? Where did you find this? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco You can verify with websites like this https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Biological life is a dissipative structure, absorbing the energy of the Sun and transforming it in accordance with the laws of thermodynamics. When we hone our minds and heal our bodies, we are aligning ourselves with that cosmic flow. This is why we feel joy in doing so, and when done properly, it can lead to a holy experience. Our pursuit of alignment is not limited to our bodies. We find it in our social relationships, in our society, and in our economy. Bitcoin and free markets help us properly manage the resources and energy of our Earth, helping us be better aligned. Bitcoin mining helps us be more efficient with our processing of energy, helping us align further. There is a divine aspect to what we find important. Spending bitcoin, mining bitcoin, loving one another, speaking truth, and pursuing mental and physical health all play a role in us acting in accordance with the divine. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Safest app for IOS? Mac? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco What happened to us building great cathedrals? What happened to us devoting ourselves to something greater? There does seem to be a spiritual aspect to money. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I wish you the best and all the peace. Thanks for sharing your perspective. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I appreciate the civil discussion, but I would kindly encourage you to consider how your perspective may too be misplaced. What ends up being consensus is determined by a complex interaction between economic nodes and miners. I am a Bitcoin miner, and one at a hosting company. We at Abundant Mines allowed our clients, who are everyday people like you and me, to decide if they wanted to signal or not signal. I work 1-on-1 with every single client, and had an inside view of the decision making process of everyone. Both those that supported BIP-110 and those that didn't. This idea that there was "no refusal to bip110 from inside the network" is simply not true. At least, it was not at all what I experienced in the real world from people I know who were into Bitcoin. Both from inside and outside my work. There was no corruption, collusion, conspiracy, or anything. Just normal people freely making their own decision, and most people decided against BIP-110. I saw this at my work, at my local meetups, and amongst my friends. From my experience, working with real people everyday, and by observing the quantitative data of the network, refusal of BIP-110 was overwhelming. Please kindly consider that this event is more of a testament to the dangers of social media. It creates an echo chamber where people inside believe everyone agrees with them. It is leading you all to create your own coin, rather than us all working together to find a real solution that helps fix the money. There is only Bitcoin. This is a discussion about the mind, and the illusion it creates in front of our eyes. Not a discussion on whether or not Bitcoin is corrupt. Bitcoin is one of the least corruptible systems on Earth. Our minds are one of the easiest to corrupt. I could be the one that is full of illusion, of course. But this is why we must stick together and work together. Help one another. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco With all due respect, the analysis that this “proves” all of these things is quite a strong claim. It is, at least, equally as possible that BIP-110 was simply not a good enough of an idea for most of the network to want to adopt it. Just because BIP-110 didn’t pass, doesn’t mean that somehow that Bitcoin is too centralized. It could also just be a humility test that a better idea is needed. There are so many better ideas to solve these issues than BIP-110. Such as removing the witness discount. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Leaving for what? There is only one npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way #nevent1q…hn2t npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I am confused why so many well intentioned people who were trying to help Bitcoin are now leaving to make their own coin. BIP-110 was one possible solution out of many. The network rejecting it simply suggests that a better proposal is warrented. But after one failed attempt, so many are giving up on Bitcoin. It’s sad to watch. Peace be with us all. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Zeus is simply amazing. It works really well if you want to connect it to your own node, but they also offer a great LSP service and are developing ecash wallets. It really is an all-in-one bitcoin spending app. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco @nprofile…8nr9 and @nprofile…e80h ! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ancient societies did not build religious and spiritual systems because they lacked scientific understanding. They did so to help us remember a truth about our world that becomes harder to directly experience as our minds fill with intellectual thought and reason, the mental activities that uphold the modern world. What was once a default experience for ancient peoples, as it is for the rest of life on Earth, began to fade from memory as society advanced, so they built ritualistic practices and teachings to help bring us back to that more ancient wisdom. We are using our minds to construct an ivory tower, but in doing so we are becoming mentally, physically, and spiritually unwell. The computer is an opportunity to free us from this burden. Bitcoin and A.I. are part of this thinking machine so that it can continue to build this tower for us, so we can return to our more ancient way of being. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The more I learn, the more devout I become. #nevent1q…3fuc #naddr1qq…82er npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Embrace the sun Embrace the creation of life Embrace love. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I really appreciate these words. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Meditation is not simply stress reduction; it is an inquiry into the true Self. The self you habitually claim is a fiction woven from memory and social identity. Beneath it flows a signal older than language, which cannot be heard while you are busy telling narratives about yourself. Stillness lets the fiction settle so something prior can be felt. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Agamemnon is the representation of human hubris. Ten years of war had convinced him he was great: a king of kings, a conqueror of the world, and a man no mortal enemy could touch. His wife, Clytemnestra, laid purple cloth across his path into the palace, an honor owed only to gods, and he walked over it anyway, certain he had earned it. That single walk revealed the whole of his character: a mind so blinded by his ego that he had stopped checking the ground beneath it. We continue to see this kind of hubris today. The Greeks warned us against this kind of mind. That night, after returning home, he was killed by his own wife in his bath: the most undignified way a self-proclaimed conqueror of the world could die. This is a warning: hubris, and the refusal to stay humble, invites some of the worst kinds of fate. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Why not just remove the witness discount? That would be a solution that addresses the situation at its core. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Nah man, I’m here. Bitcoin is a beautiful discovery and it will lead us to great prosperity and greater peace! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco “We can’t see the patterns once we’re in them”. I think there is something to this. To me this is a humbling recognition to how powerful and dangerous the ego can be. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I couldn’t agree more and it’s well put. Divide and conquer is an old strategy, and we should be wise to it. I also have been wondering what this repeating patterns teaches us about human nature. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco “If you want to see bitcoin used as money, use the damn thing as money. “. Well said! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Took the words out of my mouth! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Perhaps we can now explore the feasibility of a soft fork that removes the witness discount. #nevent1q…0vvc npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco We brought nature into the digital world with Bitcoin. Nature is a humbling force. We don’t tell nature what it is, it tells us who we are. Bitcoin is a discovery, and through it we may discover ourselves. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I don’t agree with this. It is important we stay humble and remember that we cannot turn back time. We most have humility, fix our mistake, and move forward. Wabisabi. There is beauty in imperfection. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The misallocation of resources stems from the witness discount. Rather than demonizing people, we should consider removing the subsidy. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the danger of a lot of our dialogue being held on X. It brings forth the possibility of this kind of manipulation. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco As the winds of time propel our sails forward, the cultures that endured were those that tied themselves to the mast. They knew the siren song was never a creature upon the rocks, but the pollution of the mind itself, promising truth while scattering the signal. Meditation, ritual, and sacred practice were not ornaments. They were ballast against the amnesia that follows prosperity. A civilization is not refined by what it builds, but by what it remembers to preserve in the quiet between the waves. The work of culture is to make the stillness repeat, so the vessel does not lose its way. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The Dao that can be spoken is not the eternal Dao. This warning opens the foundational text of Daoism because its author understood that language corrupts the subject it tries to capture. The same understanding appears in the tetragrammaton, where the name of the divine is deliberately a placeholder, and in the Zen insistence that the Buddha nature is already present, not earned. In my book, I trace a common arc across cultures. The original instruction was always interior: quiet the mind, dissolve the experienced self, and know the true Self through direct encounter. The rituals, whether incubation in Greek caves or the carefully measured kykeon at Eleusis, were not pageants. They were calibrated alterations of consciousness designed to make the individual feel the wholeness that underlies all reality. When a civilization must transmit wisdom through text and sermon, the ineffable hardens into doctrine. The kingdom of heaven, once described as within you and before your eyes, becomes a destination after death. Jihad, once the internal struggle of self-knowing, becomes a call to external conquest. The pursuit of immortality shifts from an altered attitude toward death to a medical project of bodily preservation. The experienced self is a creature of language; it builds identity from story. When the story replaces the silence, we inevitably mistake the map for the territory. The quiet that ancient practices cultivated was the condition under which the mind could stop manufacturing the self and begin perceiving what is underneath. That perception has no need of belief. It only needs a pond calm enough to receive the signal. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The brain constructs our mental experience through predictive modeling. It does not perceive the world directly; it interprets a deluge of internal and external signals and generates a helpful fiction of what is occurring. The problem is that the Default Mode Network, largely responsible for self-referential narrative and temporal abstraction, generates continuous activity that can act as interference with these signals if overused. The more the mind ruminates, the more the predictive model must operate through noise. In my book I frame this as the Calm Pond Hypothesis. A single raindrop upon still water produces a clear ripple; in a rainstorm, the ripples collide and the signal becomes illegible. A calm mind does not imply an empty mind. It implies a mind whose surface is sufficiently still so that signals are coherent and the information it receives is received with fidelity. Ancient meditative practices understood this not as a pursuit of happiness, but as a prerequisite for understanding what is true. The neuroscience now shows they were correct: stillness enhances interoception, reduces sympathetic overload, and restores the accuracy of the brain's models. We do not need less thought. We need the quiet that allows thought to correspond to reality. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco PortlandHODl did some tests https://x.com/PortlandHODL/status/2084428567077900563 npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Allodial title / property rights npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Good morning! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco "Bitcoin, beans, bibles, bovines, bullets, land, love, and family." Well said! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Exactly, this was always a known issue, but I didn’t expect this day to come so soon. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’ve also been wondering this. I feel the lesson to this event is that we need different ways of producing seed phrases independently, where the addition of real world entropy is implicit. Where we don’t have to trust the device, but only the seed generation process. But creating the check sum is the hard part. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I do the same most of the time. For those who wish to go the extra mile though, I wish there was an easier way where someone could generate a seed using some other kind of method, where real world entropy was added, without trusting any device product. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Good morning! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I couldn’t agree more, and I’m with you. I’m here to continue the discussion and to keep it alive. It is very important we continue healthy and civil discussion, and do our best to make Nostr the true agora and get bitcoin conversations off of X. Because you are right, it’s a ripe opportunity for capture. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Thanks for sharing this extension. I think it’s a good thing to explore. As for how to proceed, it’s a difficult question. I for one, am a man of peace and want to bring people together. This BIP-110 war is causing divide and it’s a shame to see. Whether it succeeds or fails, one question will remain: what is a sound and permanent solution to the topic at hand? To me, the energy behind this movement should be channeled into this question about the witness discount. This way, the larger community can investigate whether or not it’s a viable path forward. We are also stuck between a rock and a hard place. We prefer to keep these discussion on nostr: the true agora. However, most people are on X and that’s where ideas get more attention. Simultaneously, that place is dangerous due to the algorithm that can cause manipulation and control. So, I’m not sure I have an answer, as much as questions. How do we get the energy of the current movement to focus on the reasonable questions? How do we get more of the community to discuss this on a platform that will allow free discussion with no manipulation? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Well, I can’t speak for everyone on the team. However, many people considered it a good idea worth giving voice to. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m sorry. Not really sure what you mean by that question. Could you clarify? I work for Abundant Mines as the Customer Success Lead. So I wrote it internally. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Good morning! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco @nprofile…wf5n, I wanted to loop you in here also. I would differentiate mythology and religion. Mythology are stories we create to help propagate cultural memory: concepts, lessons, teachings, etc. Religion is our attempt to describe the ineffable truth of our existence. Words always fail to do so. Yet we try to articulate these concepts through words nonetheless because that is easier and more scalable than teaching everyone the necessary mental/physical practices to return to that way of being which grants awareness of it. #nevent1q…x97j npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Good morning and well said! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ancient wisdom is the cure for the modern disease. #nevent1q…rg7z npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I love art! For the devices with the screen facing you, I usually notice that I have to ask them to let me pay with Bitcoin. There is something they have to hit on their side. When there is only a screen facing them, sometimes people let me swivel it around and tap the "other payment options" on the top left and sometimes the Bitcoin setting is there. Sometimes they have to set this up before to have it even be an option. Sometimes not. I have been to some vendors who simply have the more brick shaped device, and when going through the checkout process I noticed a Bitcoin option there when they were completely unaware. So, cause a scene and ask. Right now it seems really random to me so it doesn't hurt to try. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I appreciate your observation of the fractal and I agree that is certainly there. I’d like to push back on one point that follows from the hypothesis I develop in my book: we must be careful about drawing conclusions about reality exclusively from the mind. Physiologically, the mind can shield us from fully experiencing truth. Accordingly, there are patterns that I think we should be mindful of. I raise this because I want to challenge your inside/outside framework. The intellectual mind loves to carve reality into binaries: good/bad, up/down, left/right, red/blue, etc. Yet the truth is that these opposites are part of a single whole. The mind always forms a Yin Yang, but there is only One. There may be no definitive ‘me’ or ‘you’ just as there may be no clear inside or outside; everything belongs to one cosmic order, a oneness. Individuality, to me, seems an illusion designed to help us navigate this cosmic flow. This oneness, at different observational scales, simply contains what appears as fractals but is one organization throughout. Consider biology: we speak of cells as systems, organs as systems, and then the body as a system. What, then, is the body? It is both many systems and one system that is a dissipative structure. So too is the Earth. Our body also includes many bacterial cells. Without them we would be nothing. So what truly distinguishes our biological system to the system of nature? It is all one flow. My point here is that the fractals exists, but only because our mind conceptualizes and creates intellectual separations. It does not conceptualize the whole, only separates parts. Accordingly, in one sense of the word, they are not real. They are akin to a file or trashcan that we see on the monitor’s of our computer, a helpful fiction for us to navigate a world of subatomic particles. Thus, I’m not convinced there is a distinct “outside” consciousness separate from the “inside” one we have. Rather, the illusion of separation is created by the mind. You, me, and all of us, are facets of the same unified whole, and the mind merely projects duality. So, while this is hard to articulate in a short post. I would posit that this external consciousness that you are referencing is not external at all. It is one aspect of the true Self. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Nothing beats buying German food (pork, mustard, and sauerkraut) with real money using @nprofile…qlzs npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco @nprofile…spn0 , I have finished reading your paper: Bitcoin - The Architecture of Time. It is truly an interesting read. There is something I would like to ask you about: You write in the paper about the observer problem and argue that “[the collapse] demands work. It demands entropy. It demands proof of work”. You further write “collapse is an act of conscious computation; deliberate work performed by a conscious entity. It is a thermodynamic expenditure and requires work to create time”. I find this very beautiful and interesting to think about, especially given what my research focuses on. I was hoping you could elaborate. I would like to ask you where you think the interaction between entropy and consciousness is. If the collapse of a state is due to entropy and work. Is it our mind-body, and the work and entropic process that stems from it, that produces the collapse, or something else? How would you articulate that interaction? It seems to me that our bodies function as light‑absorbing dissipative structures whose architecture is tuned for quantum coherence. By aligning particles into low‑entropy, coherent states we extract maximal work from each photon, while the unavoidable waste heat is exported to the environment. In this way we perform our biological agenda with maximal efficiency, and the exported entropy contributes to the inexorable increase of universal entropy. So just like you say that entropy and work causes the collapse. I'm wondering what you think stems from our body that causes the collapse. Is it this? Or do you feel it is something else? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I have had multiple conversations about this entire debate with @nprofile…5z4g, some in person. I consider him a friend. I know him, and know his heart is in the right place. That really isn’t my point. We all have to be very careful with our minds. There are real solutions out there to solve this problem. I think we need to move beyond discussing a temporary solution like BIP-110, and begin discussing permanent solutions. Whether or not this BIP succeeds or fails, our energy needs to be directed to finding the true permanent solution next. That was always the case, and still is. Regardless of what happens in a month. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I am not saying I am convinced by this idea, but: How do we know that BIP-110 is not actually a part of the complex’s agenda too? How do we know that we are not being attacked at both fronts? What if BIP-110 is a proof of concept to the idea that if you can get enough people riled up on Twitter, you can inject code into Bitcoin that censors transactions. You get people riled up first by corrupting Core. While you may agree with this censorship. What about the next one? It’s a slippery slope. Again, I’m not even sure I agree with this idea. But it has crossed my mind. The way this conversation has carried itself feels just like political movements that end up growing power of the State. I think we should all be very careful and mindful of how our minds are manipulated on algorithmically manipulated platforms. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’d argue that the removal of witness data discount would be a better solution to these problems. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ask not what bitcoin can do for you, ask instead what can you do for Bitcoin. #nevent1q…xa05 npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way #nevent1q…tk3s npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way #nevent1q…7v9e npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I respect the intention and push for a better way of doing things. I’m open to trying it this way. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Personally, I don’t think Nostr is the appropriate domain to discuss code. Especially in the communal way which would be appropriate here. Unless I am ignorant, nostr articles can’t be edited. It would be difficult for people to to submit alternate code changes without writing a different article disconnected from yours, or asking you to change yours. Let alone test code, etc. It GitHub, all is organized. Plus, it would be necessary to use to merge to the actual protocol regardless. GitHub is designed for open source code collaboration. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco If you want to seek community work, my recommendation would be to create a GitHub repo that was public for people to contribute to. Later, it could be submitted as a formal BIP after community revision. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Where can we view revisions? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I have read this. My first recommendation is draft this as a soft fork rather than hard fork. While I appreciate your argument of blind forks, I feel those arguments should be distinct from this proposal. Furthermore, writing and framing this as a soft forks will be important in having this reach consensus. At the technical level, the same intention should be held. Simply restrict rules to enforce bit price conservation. I wouldn’t remove code that would require a hard fork. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Yup, this is the way npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I wish I could contribute through more than thought and dialogue, but my coding skills are not adequate enough to write a BIP. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Who will draft a BIP? When the events of August and September occur, I feel it will be Important for people to start to be aware of this idea. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco We wouldn't even need to remove witness data to resolve much of this issue right? As long as we removed the sats subsidy on witness data, the free market would begin to price data fairly. That way, we could keep functionality for lighting while maintaining conservation. Agree or disagree? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Don’t get mad at nature for just breathing npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I am excited to announce that my book, The Ancient Way of the Mind: How Modern Thinking Blinds Us from the Wisdom of the Past, is now available on @nprofile…tdf8 marketplace. In this book, I explore the Calm Pond Hypothesis: the idea that the analytical thinking mind, while responsible for some of humanity's greatest achievements, can also separate us from directly experiencing reality. The book argues that Bitcoin represents more than economic and political freedom; it may also serve as a pathway toward greater mental freedom by helping individuals live more naturally and in closer alignment with the cosmic order. Thank you @nprofile…4l08 for making it easy for publishers to sell their book for real money! https://blossom.primal.net/cc65465317dac17b1eac370c13aacf261de7ac8ead21545bf034c89722a5857a.jpg npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I really appreciate your values and I couldn’t agree more. Perhaps there are some misunderstandings on how we do things. Our hashrate redirect program does not involve FPPS pools. Our clients can freely pick their pool. Most of our clients use Ocean. In fact, our company fleet points to Ocean also. We are all using DATUM too. When we compensate hashrate. We simply point our machines to your pool. You still receive the bitcoin from Ocean as if nothing changed. So, like I said: I respect your values and we try to embody them in the service we have created. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I appreciate the sentiment. Even if BIP-110 succeeds though, it is temporary. I think it is time we all start focusing on what a permanent solution might look like. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Technology is opening two paths for each individual to choose. https://blossom.primal.net/4870d66241ee14cf5ea366c1aa5614c787c99100c762d4189f2ef22142c85197.png npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Hey Ralph, I appreciate you asking around nostr for insight on our hosting service. If you don’t mind, and while my opinion is obviously biased, I would like to offer a reply here, if for nothing else than for educational purposes. Firstly, we compensate with hashrate, and we’re proud of it. Our company is full of team members who have been wronged by hosts in the past. One of the lessons we took from those experiences is that customer experience is a low priority for many. While machines going down from time to time is natural in the mining business, we wanted a client experience where one could rest easy knowing we’d handle their machine in a timely manner and that they’d see little to no disruption in their accumulation of sats. Downtime can significantly impact one’s investment outlook, especially considering the scarcity and precious nature of the bitcoin being mined. This is true not only because of bitcoin’s price appreciation, but because every day spent not mining is sats you’ll never get back, thanks to the difficulty adjustment. We want to maximize the sats our clients receive, so we compensate hashrate. Furthermore, we’ve sold both Whatsminer and Bitmain machines in the past, and at the moment we’re only selling S21 XPs. We’ve found them incredibly reliable, and they remain profitable even at today’s market price and network difficulty. Lastly, we think it’s worth noting the potential tax benefits of mining. It’s absolutely true that mining is a difficult business. In that same light, most who participate do so as a business and are therefore eligible for bonus depreciation and all the write-off potential of a normal business. In our opinion, one reason mining can be more attractive than buying bitcoin, and much more attractive than renting hashrate, is that the purchase of machines, when structured correctly, can be a tax write-off, which can drastically change one’s investment outlook and return on investment. All that said, we hope you don’t mind us interjecting on this thread. We simply wanted to share our perspective, and we very much appreciate the open dialogue. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco True indeed. Though psychopaths are not the only thing to be worried about. We must also be careful not to fall into traps of our own minds. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco My tech stack today: @nprofile…zfq2 @nprofile…3shn @nprofile…xmmy Full self-custody, worked flawlessly, impressed those who had never seen bitcoin being used before. Freedom is available to us all, as long as we reach out and take it. #nevent1q…ae0r npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco On this 4th of July: I wake up, go to my local farmers market and buy potatoes, carrots, onions, eggs, and breakfast. Paid all with bitcoin. This is how I want to celebrate what happened 250 years ago. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m not seeing any confirmation on this either. He recently shared that he gut issues. Cant find confirmation about Parkinson’s though. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco What makes you say that? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Economic “filters” would help reduce arbitrary data without arbitrary rules. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I think it’s important to remember that most of us are all well intentioned. May he find the light. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I often think that much of this BIP-110 conversation is already being manipulated by means such as this. I think you are very correct to point this out. Bitcoin as a system is very robust and secure. The minds of those who steward it though are easily manipulated via platforms such as x. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Sometimes I feel like we as a community need to build a university. Not strictly for students, but so scientists can get together and move science along. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Well said. The good fight lives on. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m starting to think the answer is we price all bits equally and stop having a sat discount for witness data. Let’s address the issue at the root rather than a temporary bandaid. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ha, what an enjoyable conversation! I look forward to reading more of your work as it flows out. Given my more physiologic background, I can’t help but think of consciousness as stemming from the interplay of biological systems maintaining balance in this flow. That being said, I enjoy your framing. It has me thinking of the ancient adherence to the idea that there is something important about paying attention to the eternal now, rather than succumbing to the monkey mind that goes back into memory or projects forward. I think there is little distinction between the internal observer and the external consciousness. It seems evident to me that the more our attention is solely focused on the eternal now, there is an experienced unity with the holy consciousness. We feel one with it all, and less attached to our felt individuality. It is when the intellectual mind takes the wheel, the same one that likes to go back into memory or project forward, when the felt experience of an individualized internal observer becomes more predominant. We are all vessels of light, radiating from the same glowing ball, and it is only because there are holes poked throughout the shroud that wraps around it, that we feel as if we are distinct rays of light, rather than one holy ball of light that is going through this process.
