Last Notes npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’d argue that the removal of witness data discount would be a better solution to these problems. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ask not what bitcoin can do for you, ask instead what can you do for Bitcoin. #nevent1q…xa05 npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way #nevent1q…tk3s npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way #nevent1q…7v9e npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I respect the intention and push for a better way of doing things. I’m open to trying it this way. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Personally, I don’t think Nostr is the appropriate domain to discuss code. Especially in the communal way which would be appropriate here. Unless I am ignorant, nostr articles can’t be edited. It would be difficult for people to to submit alternate code changes without writing a different article disconnected from yours, or asking you to change yours. Let alone test code, etc. It GitHub, all is organized. Plus, it would be necessary to use to merge to the actual protocol regardless. GitHub is designed for open source code collaboration. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco If you want to seek community work, my recommendation would be to create a GitHub repo that was public for people to contribute to. Later, it could be submitted as a formal BIP after community revision. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Where can we view revisions? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I have read this. My first recommendation is draft this as a soft fork rather than hard fork. While I appreciate your argument of blind forks, I feel those arguments should be distinct from this proposal. Furthermore, writing and framing this as a soft forks will be important in having this reach consensus. At the technical level, the same intention should be held. Simply restrict rules to enforce bit price conservation. I wouldn’t remove code that would require a hard fork. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Yup, this is the way npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I wish I could contribute through more than thought and dialogue, but my coding skills are not adequate enough to write a BIP. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Who will draft a BIP? When the events of August and September occur, I feel it will be Important for people to start to be aware of this idea. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco We wouldn't even need to remove witness data to resolve much of this issue right? As long as we removed the sats subsidy on witness data, the free market would begin to price data fairly. That way, we could keep functionality for lighting while maintaining conservation. Agree or disagree? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Don’t get mad at nature for just breathing npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I am excited to announce that my book, The Ancient Way of the Mind: How Modern Thinking Blinds Us from the Wisdom of the Past, is now available on @nprofile…tdf8 marketplace. In this book, I explore the Calm Pond Hypothesis: the idea that the analytical thinking mind, while responsible for some of humanity's greatest achievements, can also separate us from directly experiencing reality. The book argues that Bitcoin represents more than economic and political freedom; it may also serve as a pathway toward greater mental freedom by helping individuals live more naturally and in closer alignment with the cosmic order. Thank you @nprofile…4l08 for making it easy for publishers to sell their book for real money! https://blossom.primal.net/cc65465317dac17b1eac370c13aacf261de7ac8ead21545bf034c89722a5857a.jpg npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I really appreciate your values and I couldn’t agree more. Perhaps there are some misunderstandings on how we do things. Our hashrate redirect program does not involve FPPS pools. Our clients can freely pick their pool. Most of our clients use Ocean. In fact, our company fleet points to Ocean also. We are all using DATUM too. When we compensate hashrate. We simply point our machines to your pool. You still receive the bitcoin from Ocean as if nothing changed. So, like I said: I respect your values and we try to embody them in the service we have created. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I appreciate the sentiment. Even if BIP-110 succeeds though, it is temporary. I think it is time we all start focusing on what a permanent solution might look like. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Technology is opening two paths for each individual to choose. https://blossom.primal.net/4870d66241ee14cf5ea366c1aa5614c787c99100c762d4189f2ef22142c85197.png npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Hey Ralph, I appreciate you asking around nostr for insight on our hosting service. If you don’t mind, and while my opinion is obviously biased, I would like to offer a reply here, if for nothing else than for educational purposes. Firstly, we compensate with hashrate, and we’re proud of it. Our company is full of team members who have been wronged by hosts in the past. One of the lessons we took from those experiences is that customer experience is a low priority for many. While machines going down from time to time is natural in the mining business, we wanted a client experience where one could rest easy knowing we’d handle their machine in a timely manner and that they’d see little to no disruption in their accumulation of sats. Downtime can significantly impact one’s investment outlook, especially considering the scarcity and precious nature of the bitcoin being mined. This is true not only because of bitcoin’s price appreciation, but because every day spent not mining is sats you’ll never get back, thanks to the difficulty adjustment. We want to maximize the sats our clients receive, so we compensate hashrate. Furthermore, we’ve sold both Whatsminer and Bitmain machines in the past, and at the moment we’re only selling S21 XPs. We’ve found them incredibly reliable, and they remain profitable even at today’s market price and network difficulty. Lastly, we think it’s worth noting the potential tax benefits of mining. It’s absolutely true that mining is a difficult business. In that same light, most who participate do so as a business and are therefore eligible for bonus depreciation and all the write-off potential of a normal business. In our opinion, one reason mining can be more attractive than buying bitcoin, and much more attractive than renting hashrate, is that the purchase of machines, when structured correctly, can be a tax write-off, which can drastically change one’s investment outlook and return on investment. All that said, we hope you don’t mind us interjecting on this thread. We simply wanted to share our perspective, and we very much appreciate the open dialogue. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco True indeed. Though psychopaths are not the only thing to be worried about. We must also be careful not to fall into traps of our own minds. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco My tech stack today: @nprofile…zfq2 @nprofile…3shn @nprofile…xmmy Full self-custody, worked flawlessly, impressed those who had never seen bitcoin being used before. Freedom is available to us all, as long as we reach out and take it. #nevent1q…ae0r npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco On this 4th of July: I wake up, go to my local farmers market and buy potatoes, carrots, onions, eggs, and breakfast. Paid all with bitcoin. This is how I want to celebrate what happened 250 years ago. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m not seeing any confirmation on this either. He recently shared that he gut issues. Cant find confirmation about Parkinson’s though. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco What makes you say that? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Economic “filters” would help reduce arbitrary data without arbitrary rules. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I think it’s important to remember that most of us are all well intentioned. We just need to find good solutions to the challenges in front of us. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Very interesting.. #naddr1qq…988q npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I also agree. May he find the light. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I often think that much of this BIP-110 conversation is already being manipulated by means such as this. I think you are very correct to point this out. Bitcoin as a system is very robust and secure. The minds of those who steward it though are easily manipulated via platforms such as x. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Sometimes I feel like we as a community need to build a university. Not strictly for students, but so scientists can get together and move science along. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Well said. The good fight lives on. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m starting to think the answer is we price all bits equally and stop having a sat discount for witness data. Let’s address the issue at the root rather than a temporary bandaid. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Ha, what an enjoyable conversation! I look forward to reading more of your work as it flows out. Given my more physiologic background, I can’t help but think of consciousness as stemming from the interplay of biological systems maintaining balance in this flow. That being said, I enjoy your framing. It has me thinking of the ancient adherence to the idea that there is something important about paying attention to the eternal now, rather than succumbing to the monkey mind that goes back into memory or projects forward. I think there is little distinction between the internal observer and the external consciousness. It seems evident to me that the more our attention is solely focused on the eternal now, there is an experienced unity with the holy consciousness. We feel one with it all, and less attached to our felt individuality. It is when the intellectual mind takes the wheel, the same one that likes to go back into memory or project forward, when the felt experience of an individualized internal observer becomes more predominant. We are all vessels of light, radiating from the same glowing ball, and it is only because there are holes poked throughout the shroud that wraps around it, that we feel as if we are distinct rays of light, rather than one holy ball of light that is going through this process. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Much of my work centers around the nature of the mind. Humans, like all life, act as dissipative structures, and our behaviors are oriented toward facilitating the flow of energy within this cosmic order. But there is a fundamental dilemma at the core of the nature of our mind. On the one hand, we have the intellectual mind, which uses symbols and logic to utilize informational structures so that we can build the civilization we see around us. At the same time, physiologically speaking, I believe the intellectual mind acts as a kind of fog over our bodies, preventing us from properly experiencing the feeling of being aligned with that flow. It is when we calm the mind and otherwise act in alignment with nature that we can more vividly and truly realize our place in that cosmic flow: that which provides us meaning. So it is interesting to think about what you're saying. What you call short-term memory is what we experience as the matter and energy of our waking moment (which I may argue is better experienced when we learn to remove the fog of the mind), and that collapses into long-term memory, which, in a sense, lies beyond us. While beyond us, we are always trying to come into contact with it, as it helps in our pursuit of alignment and felt sense of purpose. Bitcoin, then, is us encoding that memory on that more eternal level, but in a way that is still more intelligible to our intellectual side. I have long believed that the computer is here to solve this ancient dilemma we have between the intellectual mind and the experiences we consider more holy and aligned with the cosmic order. Perhaps this is what Bitcoin fundamentally solves: it resolves the dilemma by capturing information that is helpful for our intellectual mind and encoding it into the eternal memory through energy, which is more aligned with the grander cosmic flow. In a way, bringing the two into one: giving us an even more powerful tool for self discovery and alignment with the flow. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Well said my man, I’m going to reflect on this deeply npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The wonderful thing you pointed out in your paper is that Bitcoin acts as a means for us to understand time in a way we weren’t able to before. It is, in my opinion, also a means for understanding ourselves. I agree with you that this was a necessary action of ours, only so we could learn from it and understand ourselves and Bitcoin better. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I say do it… this message is very important right now as we get closer to August. I hope more people see the wisdom in what you’re saying. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Very interesting. Thanks. I’ll look into this npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco @nprofile…zfjc we connected years ago. I’ll reach out again to discuss this potential. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m already using Ingram spark. Are you saying I can use that to custom ship the book to customers? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco We should build a nostr based book store. Building a website is cool, distribution and printing becomes a task though, but it’s worth considering. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’ve been lookin for a solution to sell my book in sats npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I want to sell my book for sats but don’t know where I can. Point me in the right direction? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco If someone here is making you feel discouraged, like you don’t belong, or are unwanted here, you should simply disregard and ignore them. I love that you are here. Keep learning. We are all learning. Bitcoin is a humbling test and we are all always learning. If someone thinks they have it all figured out, they probably don’t. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is an incredibly interesting point. First store of value, then medium of exchange, last unit of account. As it is for society, so it is for the individual. Our community is just in need of a cultural evolution. And you wonder why we are having protocol issues, etc. We all say bitcoin is money yet most don’t use it as such. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco You are not alone and this is something that should be said more often in this community. Haha npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is the way npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I couldn’t agree more. Something I am trying to push recently is that it’s not enough to simply HODL your Bitcoin. Bitcoin should be spent. It helps the blood flow of the network. The more the blood flows, the healthier it is. One day, the block subsidy disappears. At that time, Bitcoin is either spent, or it is no longer mined, and dies. No blood flow, no life. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Sorry for dropping the ball on this discussion. Never saw the reply. I appreciate the civil discourse. However, I do interpret there to be several bad assumptions here. Furthermore, I’d prefer to highlight a greater point. I find it odd that so many in our space are trying to argue that it’s possible for a small minority to change the rules of Bitcoin. Regardless of the validity (or lack thereof of BIP110) , I think we should all be more vigilant. Given the centralization of mining pools, if BIP110 succeeds, it would set a very bad precedent. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Looking forward to seeing if you can call the bottom! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Do you think this is the final wave down? Or we will go back up before going all the way down to 50s? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco So, if we hit 58k or so on the way down, you think our way up this time goes into a bull market? Is that your prediction ? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Mathew 6:11-12 npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Congratulations on the engagement! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I appreciate the repost but I wouldn’t go so far. I think we all need to be very careful right now about how we all handle this debate. There are so many emotions and name calling. Bitcoin as an invention is very difficult to attack, but the human network is easily manipulatable. This is a test and an attack that I am unsure we have seen before. Therefore, we must proceed with care. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I do apologize, but now I am not following your line of reasoning. Nodes are not Sybil resistant. Furthermore, 20% of nodes running BIP-110 does not influence hashrate. Even if many people run a BIP-110 node, this does not mean the longest chain will become a BIP-110 chain. It will only result in many people running nodes that have frozen and stop seeing new blocks. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco It’s an interesting point of view, though I’m unsure if things will play out the way you are thinking they will. Also, I’m unsure where you are getting your 10% number. According to this site, signaling is more around 0.3% https://wickedsmartbitcoin.com/bip110_signaling npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Well said npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is in reference to the mandatory signaling period where BIP-110 nodes reject all non signaling blocks starting at the difficulty epoch before September 1st correct? As far as I understand, as long as the majority of hashrate doesn’t move to this BIP-110 chain, this will simply result in those nodes not following the longest chain. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Good morning! npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco The project of Ocean is worthy of our respect, their attempts to push BIP-110 aside. What is ironic is that BIP-110 will likely fail, and one major reason is that it requires 55% of miner consensus and this essentially means that it all depends on the actions of Antpool and Foundry. Regardless of the validity ( or lack thereof) of this BIP, the fact that the final decision is really in the hands of two entities is an issue we all should be concerned about. Ocean is working to fix this and that is a good thing for Bitcoin. Also, Ocean miners running DATUM can choose whether they signal for BIP-110 or not. So your comment here is a little unfair. We should be spending our bitcoin and decentralizing mining nodes. This is how we actually fix the issues being discussed. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco Truth health is found in an ancient way of life. How about now? npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m inclined to think there is something very deeply true here. It’s humbling to consider the degree of the awakening that is possible if we align ourselves correctly npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I wanted to share my recent article. It’s a force for good in this world. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I agree with that. Maybe it’s related to what I was talking about in Vegas, perhaps there is a cultural problem in bitcoin. Maybe Saylor is a product of this Bitcoin class he entered in. When the major battle cry of the community was “hodl”. Rather than “run nodes”, “decentralize mining pool”, “spend sats in your community”, or what have you. The community cheered him on at first. Maybe the community is partially to blame for having cultural mottos that were half-truths. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco This is a good point. The way it hurts our orientation and attention to life. It also makes me wonder if the act of spending real money does something that we aren’t always aware of. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco I’m starting to wonder how even using fiat effects us spiritually as well. One vendor was using Zeus before square made it easier. Another I convinced to turn on the week prior, knew very little of bitcoin before that, until I explained to him why I live on Bitcoin. It’s my understanding that the default option is only available to vendors who have that tablet with a customer facing screen that shows a Cash App QR code. But the QR code is a secret lightning invoice too. But they would have had to update their firmware. npub1249tdlkkwkv966uek7dd0duyl7x2ffdsyaugztsedrhwp3ktcflq66ys0r brightmindsco @nprofile…jjx3 deserves much respect.
