Interesting. That certainly suggests that a soft fork *can* succeed with even less than current support levels. Does that mean you also expect a similar last minute shift to occur for #BIP110? I guess so, since you mentioned there's no down side to miners to signal.
The picture is starting to come together. Just need to tie off a few more loose ends.
You mentioned that miners can lose up to 13% fee revenue. Is that due to the 13% of RDTS nodes that won't submit transactions to non-signalling miners? Or is it something else? And if that's the case, wouldn't that be a temporary situation, because those transactions will eventually be routed through other non-BIP110 nodes?

Regarding the "nothing to lose" part: wouldn't they be wasting resources mining only BIP110 compliant blocks and ignoring invalid ones, when the majority of miners will mine the BIP110-invalid blocks, and form a longer chain, as validated by the majority of nodes?

I'm not sure about that. When all the SSPs are run by one entity, how self-custodial is it really? Sure, you can unilaterally exit, but that's only a small benefit.
Privacy-wise it's much worse than LN, because it operates with similar properties as the main chain. You're going from trusting one LN custodian to trusting another LN custodian LightSpark) on a much more transparent/trackable chain.
I really want to like Spark (and Ark), but it doesn't seem like its glaring and serious issues are addressed yet. Until such time I advise everyone to stay away from it.
It rather seems like everyone is pushing Spark because it's easy, and legally qualifies as "self-custodial", so gets around Google's recent KYC requirement.

People come to Bitcoin and Nostr to reclaim their freedom, so the default should be reasonable privacy. Spark doesn't help with that. "Self custody" is doing a lot of lifting in Spark, and comes at a high cost.

Depends on how you travel and what's important to you, but it's doable. Black forest (Triberg, specifically) and Hohenzollern are definitely doable as a day trip each. But Nuremberg can easily take up more, depending on how into WW2 history you are.
If I had 3 days I'd maybe do 1 day black forest, then 2 days Nuremberg. It's still going to be a busy 3 days 😅.

You're hinting at another point that I find fascinating from your data: that most Bitcoin users transact on-chain and not through LN. That is surprising, and more than a little stupid of them. LN will give you all of the same advantages as Monero (though not to the same degree, I'll admit) and is by far the most common way to transact in Bitcoin. At least in all of the Bitcoin economies I've seen.
So your anecdotal data conflicts with my anecdotal data in at least 2 ways. Who is correct? We'll need more data to say definitively.
One thing is for sure: I'll definitely mention your interesting numbers in future conversations.

There's a bit of a selection bias there, don't you think? The few willing to publicly report these numbers can hardly be seen as representative. And what about all the merchants where Monero has too small a share to fall outside of the "Other" category? We can't really know how many of those there are.
OTOH I can give bigger but equally anecdotal numbers of more and more physical and local merchants accepting Bitcoin payments directly. Not one of them accepts Monero.
That is of course not to say that your claim is definitely false, just that 4 merchants is a really small dataset to make strong conclusions from.

Because that "value" is determined by consumers, and our consumer culture is completely fucked. Reduced to dopamine driven clicks through years of hedonistic glut, spurred on by soulless, money extracting algorithms.
It is we consumers that continue to fail at measuring value in anything other than dopamine hits and (fake) money, and in that way validating attention-gabbing noise as valuable.
Businesses do not have or need any moral compass. That is for consumers to enforce on them, under threat of voting with their wallets.
Consumers are supposed to be the balancing power in the producer-consumer economy. What we have now is a producer-state economy where consumers are mere, impotent spectators.
