Coffee bros,
Yesterday I got rejected from another job, the third job I applied, and got to the interview process.
The last one was for a "pure" sysadmin position, hard mode, but still, sysadmin, what I have mostly done all my life.
"they decided to continue with another candidate".
I knew the interview went so so. Most of my answers were answered by "brain muscle" instead by thought - this made some really good and fast answers for some questions, and too little too late for others.
It didn't help that I spent all the day before practicing Kubernetes with K3d. As I said, I totally missed their target, they didn't ask a single question about it, not even about Docker.
I have been sulking for an entire day already, and I thought it might be better to stay away from Sysadmin/DevOps for a while, and try focusing on something I see everyday in local jobs hiring, like PHP/Laravel. While I have used PHP for 10+ years, I only know the basics of Laravel and composer/artisan. The only framework I can say I know it's Python/Flask, but there are little to none jobs for it in my area.
I have also spent the last 3 weeks making projects based on what I see employees are searching for and uploading them to Github, https://github.com/leokasion.
Could someone with some time help me with some words? What do you recommend should be my course of action?

@nprofile…ea7y @nprofile…4979 I'm not used to try to repair some PC parts -or rather, I'm only used trying to repair very very few computer parts, like networking related stuff, cables, switches and some old networking cards (yes I'm old).
The monitor I'm trying to replace *should* be cheap to replace, although for now I didn't have luck; although I'm getting used to work and do everything else using a single monitor, I miss a second monitor to have *something* playing, since I don't own a TV.
One question though, I still have plugged in both to the power and to the DVI port (although the monitor it's a VGA it connects via an adapter I bough), and by chance I booted up a new distro called KAoS (nevermind the name, it was just because it came with the latest Ladybird and I wanted to try it); the point is that it detected that I had two monitors. I thought the DVI port would shown something is connected, so I tried disconnecting the monitor from the power, and it detected there was no second monitor anymore. I plugged in the monitor to the electricity again, and it recognized it.
It's me being ignorant, or if the monitor stopped working it shouldn't be recognized at all, connected or not?
About the SSD disks bandwidth (or speed?), I was using the wrong device because I forgot I changed the SATA cables position:

I have seen some instances in github of some projects that uses INSTALL.md along README.md, the former as installation guide, providing step-by-step instructions to set up and run the project, while the later is intended to be a comprehensive project overview, still always with the idea of being the first file a visitor sees when viewing a repository.
Since I'm using Gitea, I know it won't make much of a difference, but it gives me an excuse to ask you guys if you agree with this.

I will still use LAMP if I need it to load and look just good enough, make use of some forms and/or POST/GET data, and require a DB.
If not LAMP would LNPP (Linux, Nginx, PostgreSQL, PHP).
No one will hire me for this Fireship's slop that gets worse every year anyways, these even makes looks JavaSE and .NET Core good, so may as well use what makes (and always did) most common sense.

@nprofile…fhvp I have read that could happen in certain configurations... and that usually XMP came with at least 2 profiles, for example the full DDR4 3200mhz "balanced" via doing it's thing, and another profile that would run at 3000mhz in case pushing it too the limit would cause problems.
Have you tried this? in any case I should read the entire wiki on XMP.

I bought this "new computer" almost 3 years ago. I built it myself, extremely slowly, but very carefully, and it ended very sturdy without problems.
I bought 2xDRAM 3200mhz Kingstong modules at the same time to use it in dual channel. No problems.
Yesterday, literally entering the BIOS to disable to mobo logo because I updated the firmware, and tinkering other options, I found the memory speed multiplier set to decimal number that meant it was running at 2666mhz.
I wasn't sure which multiplier set, I couldn't make sense of the memory speed multiplier and the 2 decimals.
After 10 minutes of tinkering I found the XMP profiles option and now, maybe for the first time since I build this PC, I checked and it's running properly @3200mhz in dual channel.

@nprofile…cq6k I accepted systemd some time ago. I think nova was who pushed me so much to use other init daemons, which was cool to learn, specially features like MX Linux that uses SysVinit as default, but comes with a strong well made wrapper for most systemd services.

I never felt in my life such a strong urge to prep and leave the city.
Save enough money to buy a backpack with all the needs to travel for some time; even if I have little knowlodge about these types of endeavours, and it would certainly be a challenge, I am almost sure this would make me feel happy and obliterate my depression, feeling the air and green scenary, completely alone depending where I go, or getting to know people from outside the city that based on my experience, are usually friendly -very nice in some cases.
Next week, August 8th Friday it's my 40 years birthday, maybe it's time for a change since I lived all my life in Buenos Aires.

It was a small war that we Argentinians shouldn't have started, but the actual government (the dictadure we endured before Democracy) was desperate to get the vote of the masses, and their last attempt was making war with the United Kingdom of 1980 which was already aging but was far superior to us.

@nprofile…vqps although the Microsoft schemes it's more of a subjective thing IMO -for example I agree with you on VScode still being attached to MS (and not only due to Electron), but I believe VSCodium/Code it's a fast and beginner to advanced, friendly, very mature editor, with many plugins extremely useful, developed thanks to being a fork of a mainstream product by MS.
On the X topic, you have told me some things I didn't know, but still I hope you understand why I kept trying in the discussion to divide running a Windows Manager, a X session, from directly running the programs on WSL.
And I forgot, but it's true and very important, it is the WSL 1.0 that is being open sourced, not WSL 2.0 -however I still belive it's a very good step that shows WSL is worth it for MS -even if it may end badly as history teached us, we are in the extend period, and it's really nice for now, I don't know if you tried it, but if you didn't I would invite you to try it. Maybe don't install a default WSL with Ubuntu like I did, although it really has not given me any problem except some NAT preconfiguration that it's neccesary to remove and change for some daemons to communicate properly.
I would have never thought that Bash wasn't POSIX compliant.

That is called an X server.
Yes, I know what's an X server, that's why I explicity said GTK/QT applications, if it's opening a X in the WSL background to render such applications, I do not know, sounds likely, and with the source available, it's another thing "the community" will be able to know.
But you are not opening any Windows Manager, you can't run startx or lightdm or any XDM, that was my point on running GTK/QT applications as any Windows program.
Finally, yes I'm using Bash because it's what I used since Slackware 10, only tried zsh for some time because customized and weird FreeBSD at work a long time ago.
My point was that you can change the shell to any as long it's POSIX compliant (fish, zsh, bash, etc.)

I'm talking that it comes with the "ability" to open GTK/QT applications to work with as if they were just another Windows program. I have never got into that because I don't need it and I don't like it. Uploading a hideous picture as basic example.
That's what I meant with "only using CLI" -only using the POSIX based shell you setup on your WSL.

@nprofile…vqps @nprofile…0tvd you're right (it is not right), but for me that has been using WSL 2 for some time now, seems that the project it's important enough and will only get better if it is open sourced, because as good as it is already, it reallty needs some job on very custom configs, and specially more clarity on how some things like how the net stack to Windows works. I'm talking exclusively on the CLI which is what I only use.
Never used Cursor so I don't need how much important is VScode's Copilot having the source available is.

Yesterday there were elections for the governor of the Capital of Buenos Aires (CABA), which is kinda a big deal here.
Less than the 50% of citizens presented to vote. If they didn't say the exact number, the participation must have been really, really low.
People, normies or not, got tired of the system, at least in the city.
Basic things like paying for ads everywhere, on the city's cartels, on the buses, the subway, Google ads, X, etc. makes me think the obvious (I hope it's obvious): why not use that money for personal acts and visit people so random runner for governor helps the citizens fixing *some things* for the city like streets, the garbage containers, power issues, the people without home, etc. and making publicity about those actions instead of printing everywhere party number 5, generic picture looking serious number 2, boring label number 6: "justice for the future".

It's like we humans or men will always carry that seed of rewarding victory both for ourselves and others over any kind of competition -and that makes me wonder how would our society would be if we wouldn't care for competing, even in a primitive sense; everyone go the same way. And it sounds very Socialist, Marxist... therefore it's almost like nature itself would be Capitalist. What do you think?
