moreover having a history of poor security makes it harder to begin being secure once it becomes necessary. I wouldn't say futile so much as just some potentially overboard self preservation. the average person gets caught doing something illegal or embarrassing enough to be blackmail worthy and that's a life ruining experience, someone with this level of power gets caught doing the most evil things imaginable and whoever caught them is ending up six feet under. Having enough power and influence enables people to get away with the unspeakable, but for the powerless even something relatively minor can be exploited to have severe negative influence on their life.

The average person isn't going to see that. They aren't personally directly effected by any of that in their day to day lives, as far as they can tell. Minor inconveniences at worst for a lot of people. You feel cute and post a selfie, and suddenly get flooded with AI generated porn of yourself? You post a pic of your kids and suddenly get flooded with dozens of indecent images of them? That's something the average person is directly seeing and which directly involves them. It's targeted at them, specifically, in a way that is going to cause an immediate response. It's not some vague concept that someone somewhere is being censored for something or other, it's porn of them being sent at them whenever they post any pictures of themselves. It drags the majority of people who just want to go about their day and don't want to care about any of these things into it and forces them to care.

If you like pokemon and are willing to play fangames, Desolation has imo the best story of any I've played. The story focuses on Darkrai and I'm not going to spoil anything but it's got some interesting mystery elements involving him and his powers. It's relatively high difficulty though, not as hard as something like Rejuvenation or hacks like Rutile or Nova Sun, and not even close to any of the Kaizo hacks, but still on the higher end of fangame difficulty. It also has a cool mechanic called "field effects" which can be make or break for some people, it's kind of like weather effects or the terrains but heavily expanded upon and present in most battles. Like fighting in a forest buffs grass and bug type pokemon, fighting in a cave buffs rock type pokemon and makes using moves like earthquake too much cause a cave in that KO's all active pokemon, fighting on the water while surfing buffs water type pokemon and triggers water related abilities like swift swim, fighting in a desert causes all of the sandstorm related abilities to be activated, etc. I love that stuff, but a lot of people think it's too complex, especially people who don't play a lot of pokemon.
Ashen Frost is another excellent story driven fangame, and has a more approachable difficulty, but the writer insists upon undermining a lot of otherwise good scenes with jokes and references. He mostly keeps it to side content but it does creep into the main story sometimes, unfortunately. Still, it's what I recommend to basically anyone who's new to pokemon fangames since it's challenging but not too hard, and when it's taking itself seriously it's pretty well written. Ashen Frost's story is a noir inspired detective story, and it features some out-of-battle mechanics inspired by games like Ace Attorney where you need to piece together evidence to solve crimes, since the player character is a detective.

2 was just a bad game. The OG was attempting to do something impressive for its hardware. The fact that it is playable is technically impressive. It is not a good game. Even aside from the hardware limitations, its fundamental setup - fighting the same four or five bosses a total of nearly fifty times - was not a good idea. It is no one's favorite metroid game. A remake of 2 is doomed to be flawed simply because the fundamental setup for what 2 wants to be is bad, and it's impossible to avoid that feeling dull and repetitive. AM2R and the 3DS remake both tried to spice things up, in different ways; AM2R tried making it feel more like Super and ZM, actually good Metroid games, whereas the 3DS game basically used it as a beta test for what would become Dread's core mechanics. Everything good about it is done better in Dread, and even many of its mistakes were learned from and done better in Dread. It feels like playing an early access version of Dread, and imo really doesn't stand alone as its own title. The devs got forced to make a remake to one of the worst games in the series and decided "fuck it, let's just use this to test out shit for the potentially good thing we're working on". It was probably for the best, since Dread ended up actually being pretty good, and there's honestly not much that can be done to salvage Metroid 2. If you want to see a genuine attempt to try fixing it, you play AM2R. If you want to play Dread, just play Dread, don't settle for its beta test.

They're planning on making "hybrid burgers" that are half fake meat and half real meat. Not really all that much info on it yet though. I'd assume they'd be clearly labelled as such in grocery stores, but still, it makes me paranoid. Non vegan stuff gets labelled as vegan in restaurants pretty often, especially where I live, mainly because people here don't seem to know what veganism is. Having this change would just increase the risk of confusion and accidentally being served non vegan food.

I don't really like the black and white straight flags much either, since they feel almost as if they're intended to be offensive rather than genuinely representative. There's one that's pink and blue with a male and female sign interlinked over it, that one's fine.
I'd never considered their similarities to the ace, aro, and demisexual flags before. That is pretty weird - almost feels insulting towards ace, aro, and demisexual people. Though personally, I have issues with the designs of a lot of pride flags. Nonbinary for example, something about it just feels wrong, I think maybe the shades it uses and the specific order of it. The colors gold and purple are common in sunrises, for example, which are absolutely beautiful, so it's not like these colors can't work well together, but the way the nonbinary flag is put together just feels a bit awkward. I've toyed around with it a few times and I find that putting the gold and purple next to each other looks pretty nice, though I've never been able to figure out what exact order everything should go in. I think I like white-gold-purple-black the most.
