man, after reading the end of csm part 2 idk how to feel, certainly i ddont hate it, and i dont love it, its between a neutral to goodish ending, buuuut, it somehow doesnt feel earned, its like we skipped the final 10 chapters that lead up to it and make it feel truly earned, id say thats my main issue with it :Akko_Think: those extra chapters shouldve wrapped certain main plot points up, and it wouldnt make the whole story feel so damn rushed. i truly feel like at some point during the last few chapters fujimoto just wanted to end the series and fucking rushed it, theres no other way, i remember seeing a quote years ago about how he wanted csm to be like the big lebowski and like have a vagueish ending that doesnt wrap everything up but still, its very rushed even for that, he brought up some cool concepts then threw them away the next chapter during this last arc, kinda sad since part 1 was very cohesive and tight for the most part, not to mention how the main antagonist was so great on so many levels, yoru kinda doesnt reach the same level as makima, it may have been intentional tho? :Akarin_Shrug: also im not a big fan of how the final decision is taken by pochita and not denji, i get that it got to that point bc denji kept making stupid decisions and was not thinking logically, so it wouldve been nice if he decided to stop being chainsaw man, rather than pochita making that decision himself. i also dont think it was "all for nothing" the new reset already shows that things have changed, whether due to new circumstances or internalized emotions that were kept by the characters? since denji was never groomed by makima and never had this chainsaw man identity his decisions are entirely his, he lives for himself, his ego isnt gloated and he doesnt have this skewed view of sexuality and love, no longer confusing them and thinking he needs to have sex to be someone and to be loved, thats no longer his motivation, ie, hes a nigga that achieved self actualization and is no longer a slave to foids approval and social expectations of needing to have sex for validation. and we see that what development he had before remains, he drops the chainsaw in order to save asa from committing her "sin" which will now save her from having this internalized guilt that cripples her and puts her on a shitty path, doing it in a selfless way, so yeah, this new reset is quite nice, again, doesnt feel entirely earned since it was rushed. buuuut the more i think of it the more questions pop up, like, if chainsaw man never existed, this means the devils he ate before have been regurgitated/still exist, so death is still a thing, then what about the devils he ate prior to the story? we know that other than death, there was 4 other conclusions that could happen to someone, and we know ww2 never happened thx to pochita, soooo in this world ww2 ocurred and theres 4 other conclusions other than death? if so then this new world could look similar to ours, if so, then is the ussr still around? in the prior world it is despite it being 1997 :02_think: then what about reze? is she still a soldier of the ussr? personally i like to believe since chainsaw man isnt a thing then she was never made into a weapon. ig for other characters we can easily guess what happened, aki never joined the division, kobeni is a wageslave, angel devil is with his brown gf since makima never captured him lol. also, what about the other horsemen? for fami and death theyre probably at school, but yoru??? she never took over asas body so what about her? :02_think: too many questions indeed :BlobcatShrug: theres some things that went over my head for sure, especially the meta commentary shit surrounding denji and his identity as chainsaw man and his "power up" which kinda ties to how he was always conflicted about how others only cared about him for being chainsaw man, but now thats no longer a thing, ill def give the whole thing a reread, should be less of a headache reading it all together, i still enjoyed part 1 more than part 2, i like yoru but shes nothing compared to makima as an antagonist, even if she was technically not one? idk, least its over and the ending wasnt shitty imo
