Very cool! I studied German for years, both in high school and later in university.
Thereafter, I ran into a bunch of Dutch, Afrikaans, and Flemish speakers over the years. For a couple years, I was even thinking about studying (remotely) with Stellenbosch University and had a grand time reading parts of their website in Afrikaans.
This past year, I even had a student whose family was from the same region you're describing. He and I had fun comparing notes about his language and the German I speak.

Some Ordinariate Catholic contacts have said that their Ordinariate Use Mass is fairly close to the TLM in English.
I do fully understand that it's not *exactly* the same thing, but it might be a starting point to show them what such a vernacular liturgy could look like.

During previous trips to the Philippines, I found that locals love the instant 3-in-1 sachets almost as much as we do over here in Thailand. Good on you for doing it yourself though. Proof of work!
As for me, I swapped my daily black coffee for some rooibos I discovered in the back of my cupboard. It doesn't quite do the same thing, but it's still something hot to start off the day!

I've noticed that NostrVM sometimes defaults to animal names I've seen on other clients, instead of using our self-selected usernames. For example, I just put up a post, and it's listing me as 'Wild Shark'. However, other times, it shows the names just fine.
I have yet to find any pattern for when or why this happens. Would you happen to know if there's anything I've done wrong in my setup, perhaps with my relays?

I've started doing a bit of Indonesian language training via DuoLingo, Anki, and the like in preparation for an upcoming trip.
I've been pleasantly surprised at some of the cognates I've encountered, not with English but rather with the Spanish and German that I already speak.
For example, today I was studying about clothing and encountered the Indonesian 'rok' (for skirt), which is clearly related to the German "Rock", obviously through our mutual friend Dutch.
As well, I encountered the Indonesian word 'kemeja' (for shirt), which sounded so very familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Then, it clicked! Could it be related to the Spanish 'camisa'? Perhaps via Arabic? A quick dictionary check confirmed that Arabic uses the word قميص (pronounced 'qamis'), so that explains that!
Sometimes, I wish I could get paid to just sit around and go on language adventures!

Yesterday, my Greek Catholic community in Bangkok had its usual prayer & study meeting, and we were able to try out the new vinyl, banner-style icons for our iconostasis.
While I loved the handmade iconostasis that another member has kindly brought in to share with us for past services, these easy-to-implement icons worked out really well too and will belong to the community itself long-term.

I'm not involved with the project (other than as a user), but I think a calendar with both public/private events could be really useful. As we move towards a NostrOS, this could make the ecosystem far more complete!

The other day, a member of our Greek Catholic community here in Thailand introduced me to the Blago Workshop in Ukraine. While I have seen a great many church goods sites, this is one of the most complete for our Byzantine needs. They have everything from altars to liturgical texts, church domes to donation boxes, and beyond. It's truly astounding.

This morning, I made the mistake of opening my old Twitter account. The feed was a mess of FSSPX-related drama.
I get that the pending consecrations are controversial and get people riled up, but surely the Church is much larger than that specific group.
I guess there's a reason that I spend most of my time reading here than over on Twitter. My network is significantly smaller, but the content seems a lot more wholesome and more genuine. Nostr doesn't seem opposed to drama, but it's not the only thing keeping this 'place' (if I can call it such) running.

It's definitely a fun client to use. And as I get the hang of it, I feel like it may become one of my defaults.
As for the project, I can definitely see the vision! As for the loss of key issue, that's something you'll have to tease out over time. I know I've seen a brief mention of some kind of rotating key setup or such elsewhere on Nostr, but I can't claim to fully understand that or its implications just yet.
Anyway, thanks for the cool client, and I'll let you know if I run across any bugs or anything.

I'm not particularly technologically adept, but I think I can see what you mean about the overlap between GrapheneOS and a future NostrOS. I would wonder if a standalone NostrOS mobile device could also be used for secure signing of desktop applications via QR, as you see with Bitcoin (as with SeedSigner)? I'm totally spitballing here, so please do feel free to tell me that I'm making no sense!
Also, I would wonder if there is some potential overlap with projects like #Reticulum and #Nomadnet? From what little I have read about those, they have a decentralized network for both messaging and websites that is fully encrypted. If NostrOS were to exist at scale (using something like this desktop environment I'm using right now), you could achieve something similar to those two where people are exclusively interacting within the Nostr ecosystem, visiting one another's domains, etc. Is that kind of what you're going for? Or would there still be offramps to connect to the mainstream clearnet too?

I'd say skip the salad entirely, and do some steamed or lightly sautéed Asian greens! Some garlic, chilies, and oyster sauce can do wonders to make bok choy and the like to taste delicious!

I still have a couple dozen folks over on FB, including family. I try to open Messenger.com once or twice a week to reply to messages, but it doesn't always happen.
As for migrating them over to Nostr, I keep trying but haven't had much success. Being fairly new myself, I don't yet have the street cred or knowledge to explain why this protocol is such an innovation. Hopefully, I'll continue to learn and show people what we can do with this.
I'm also thinking, just aloud for now, that I could put my mission's content up on its own npub. Give people another place to explore our content? What do you think?

I had an account roughly a decade ago, stayed for a year or two, but found that interactions dwindled significantly after the first half year or so. Almost like Diaspora and a few other attempts at alternative social media.

In all seriousness, it becomes a vicious cycle. You had a hard day. You crash early. You get up even earlier to finish what you couldn't the day before. The second day becomes more exhausting, so you crash even earlier. The cycle repeats again and again...for decades on end!
