Downside is not seeing a car in time is like a fighter pilot not seeing an opposing plane slipping in behind them. I used to be a bike messenger from 1998 to 2002. I believe there is a little fighter pilot in every bike messenger. The seemingly daily dogfights with abusive motorists could be quite intense. I once chased a Porsche uphill and caught him in traffic.

Always have a story ready to go on this, and ensure that it never changes. If they can prove you are lying they may be able to bring charges if they are considered cops.

Seeing a real slowdown in street action lately. The ongoing protests in Madison, WI have not had the national support they need. The big monthly anti-Trump protests seem to have burned out after being studiously ignored. There was one weekend of protests in FL only after that murder by ICE in St Augustine.
The Prairieland cases may be a factor, note that was a noise demo only until a cop threatened to shoot someone and Song had to lay down suppressive fire to save a life.
What I am hoping is that people are preparing for a likely stolen or defied election, and are saving themselves and making themselves ready for the bigger conflict.
On the one hand, we cannot risk losing the initiative and the momentum unless the election mess totally resets this with huge popular outrage and action.
On the other hand, we cannot afford to open a tap through which will run our entire output of fighters, down the drain to the enemy's prisons before it even starts.
In short, this is a balancing act. All energy not now spent in protests, tearing down Flock cameras, or doing community aid should probably diverted into training.
If the shit hits the fan on Wed, Nov 4, we need to be fucking ready...

Consider carrying a trowel for deploying dog feces. DO NOT use your own, unlike piss it can be identified by DNA. That goes for "your" dog too. Those who refuse to clean up after their dogs consent to the risk. Deer poop should work too.
On another note, what happens when ICE finds a fake Flock camera that is actually a homemade activist networked/remote camera pointing right into their parking lot?
What's good for the goose is good for the gander. The Flock shape is so distinctive no cop will ever see one and think it might be something else. That "flock camera" pointing into ICE's fucking parking lot could be recording every car going in and out of their office and broadcasting their license numbers to the rapid response network without having to post a scout there.
No fancy ALPR required and sure as hell no AI, for one remote camera, one fighter or one supporter watching the footage in realtime and broadcasting the results is enough.

I was just watching a video of a ferocious 12 hour battle between ICE and protesters in Burlington, Vermont back in March. What started with ICE chasing a car and the driver escaping into their own house escalated into the defense of the beseiged house by over 100 protesters as state and local cops partialy assisted ICE but limited their operations.
After the State Poopers fought their way to the door, ICE stormed the house but was unable to find their original target. Three other people inside the house were taken hostage. Now ICE had a new problem: getting OUT. The sum of all cops was outnumbered between 5-1 and 10-1 by the protesters. When cops used force, so did protesters.
After furious fighting, ICE barely managed to escape the furious crowd, and they did NOT escape in one piece. The last battle was fought to retrieve an ICE car with slashed tires, and as cops in a tactical van attempted to intervene, they had to flee as the crowd counterattacked their van. They got a rock through their back window, and one of the cops got glass in their eye.
If EVERY hostage taking by ICE required 12 hours of fighting and they had to give some to get some, either the raids and roadside assaults would grind to a hurried stop or matters would escalate to full-hot civil war.

Bunker-buster bombs are not complicated. During H.W. Bush's Iraq War I, the biggest US bunker busters were reportedly made from old howitzer barrels capped and filled with explosive and finally fitted with guided bomb nose and tail units. Guidance systems were expensive then, they are cheap now.

Just throwing out some ideas here.
My starting point for this sort of thing is best described as "counter-law enforcement." This is a strategy of making the laws they pass to exploit, dominate, and control the people impossible to enforce.
Successful operations of this type against the draft during Vietnam are a big factor in why Trump does not have a huge conscript army for an invasion and conquest of Iran. It made my own fight against Reagan's efforts to bring back the draft for his El Salvador war much easier, again helping to block an invasion.
Counter-law enforcement can quite effectively start with blinding the enemy's surveillance and targetting systems. These are not just nuisance and privacy problems, their presence is a major strategic issue that may mean we only have a limited time to act before it becomes too late.
These are effectively command and control targets. People can strike both in the open and from underground at their digital intelligence networks, such as Flock cameras, phone tracking, and even store surveillance.
In the open work can means protests, primary and recall campaigns against pro-surveilance thugs in office to attrit their numbers, and boycotts of the worst stores like Target and Best Buy. It can also include campaigns against banks, stockbrokers, insurance companies, and suppliers both to the makers of this shit (e.g Flock) and their customers such as stores. Big chain stores install Flock cameras in their parking lots, then lobby the county or city to install more. These can be used to track anything from shoplifters to who buys what,
From both the digital and meatspace undergrounds right now, surveillamce networks are being hacked, and Flock and similar cameras are being both destroyed by furious residents and bagged up by local governments trying to appease those same residents. Nobody is going to vote for Flock and they know it. The open citizens and the underground guerillas work hand in hand against "Flock-ism" and even worse shit like Palantir.
Another part of this consists of getting people into the habit of not driving to places they might want to be able to deny having been to so as to simplyt reduce the value of Flock and similar vehicle tracking systems. This works no matter what happens to the Flock cameras and network themselves. Same idea as suppression of enemy air defenses, but not relying on them being suppressed when flying in at treetop level to hit something else.
Same concept works against passive surveillance via people's phones. There is the "SignalTrace" protect to combine Bluetooth, wifi, and cellular monitoring with ALPR (presumably Flock) cameras to associate what phones travel with what cars. This doesn't work when phones get left home, Faraday bagged, or even just turned off or put in airplane mode. These are listed in order of presumed effectiveness.
Fact is though, as of now just keeping location sharing OFF and not being logged into Google or Apple stops surprising amount of tracking. After J6/2021, not being logged into Google or having location sharing off was enough to keep hundreds of Trump's goons from being found. It prevented geofence warrants for high precision location data showing which phones were inside the Capitol finding them. Works for them, works for us. Logging out of Google and turning off location sharing are tools, they work for anyone who picks them up
If people learn to stop using credit cards for sensitive stuff like phone cards and hardware used for protests and direct action alike, yet another major source of deanonymizing data can be choked off.
Neutralizing networked tracking systems makes policing protests and tracking organizers more difficult. Both protest and direct action becomes safer as people become even harder to identify.
This also benefits everyone else who is trying to stay out of jail or prison, as disabled intelligence/command and control systems forces them to go back to manual investigation work when fewer people want to be cops after the 2014 and 2020 BLM Uprisings.
What helps us activists also helps things like queer folks cruising woods and beaches after being kicked off Grindr by age verification and clubs being closed by police raids. I've had the distinct pleasure of being able to directly benefit from my own work back in Summer 2020, when I could go outdoor cruising (covid risk only from a direct partner not everyone there!) after an afternoon of confrontation at BLM Plaza near the White House. All the cops had to stay there, meaning the places I went to cruise had to be left alone as the other side was out of cops.
At this point, the fight against AI data centers rises in importance, as using AI to track people who are NOT in their cars requires the use of big data centers. Less of these means reduced availability of AI. We need to choke that back big-time though, as the billionaire/trillionaire class will prioritze the military, law enforcement and defense of the wealthy over all other uses of AI..
Another major strategic goal right now may be the defense of unhoused camps. If the uber-rich can round up and jail unhoused folks, they gain more freedom to cut wages and worsen conditions knowing if people quit and nobody will rehire them they go to jail. This of course is SLAVERY and must be resisted by any means necessary.
This points to the strategic as well as moral importance of striking at mass incarceration, starting with making it unprofitalbe and hopefully escalating to making it impossible
Existing prison labor programs should be struck at by all possible means. Delaney Hall shows the way, with labor strikes inside backed by protesters outside. Businesses selling prison labor goods can be harassed, and boycott campaigns are cutting off some of the funding for private prisons.
In 2019 not only Wells Fargo but ALL other then-known banking partners of Geo Group committed to divesting. Forbes reported that Geo Group (owner of Delaney Hall) was "running out of banks!"

This was driven by years of harassment from protesters and from underground in a one-two combination. Hammer and Anvil so to speak. The effect was to literally take money out of slaveowner pockets.
Direct harassment of private prison companies could be stepped up too, things like turning their CEOs into neighorhood pariahs with residential protests. The overall campaign could re-use the SHAC (anti HLS/vivisector) tactics and strategy that debanked, de-invested, and de-supplied Huntingdon Life Sciences until it rolled over and sank. To some extent we are already doing that by debanking these monsters.
Making jail and prison unprofitable directly helps us defend ourselves of course. If we can give the Enemy the idea that sending any one of us to any jail or prison risks destabilizing whatever facility draws the short straw, we turn ourselves into tough targets carrying a real deterrent to being attacked.
Many more things we can do. Let's remember a lesson of WWII: the real strategic targets are not always what they seem. It was thought "Panzers don't roll without ball bearings" but Nazi ball bearing factories turned out to be easily replaced. OK, both the ball bearings and the panzers and planes they go into move on railroad track. Thus this become a strategic target. Railroad rail could be replaced, but trains didn't run until it was. In addition, replacing track requires steel, which requires coal and ore. Targetting that coal was said to be one of the most effective things the 8th Air Force ever did to Nazi Germany.
When the Allies started destroying Nazi coal and synthetic oil production, all parts of the Nazi war machine began to starve and the effects of this shortened the war. All the other replacement stuff made from metal didn't get made if there was no coal.

A table I consulted shows cone 10 at almost 2,400F, which is above the melting point of cast iron and well above that of bronze, and a little below that of common steels.
In other words, a little more and you are in crucible steel territory.
When I was a teenager I experimented with casting aluminum,using entirely homemade equipment from the furnace to the patterns to the molds. When my father was in the hospital with lung cancer, you should have seen his face light up when I brought in an early test casting for him to see!
The downfall of the project was I was trying to do too much too fast-big castings requiring a lot of precision. If I had started with casting that roots blower's end plates instead pf the rotors it might have worked.

Here's a thought for when Donald Trump is finally done here on Earth. Stroke, heart attack, congestive heart failure, whatever.
There are parties everywhere, but Trump is not invited. He is drawn to the open elevator door and is powerless to resist. The doors close, and the elevator rises to the penthouse level. So far this is almost normal for Trump.
He is met at the Pearly Gates and escorted to the down elevator by two burly gym-bodied queer angels. The door is closed and locked. The elevator begins to descend and the temperature starts to rise.

The train ride lasts three days. Finally the train pulls into a fenced compound with guard towers. Josef Stalin steps up as the train car is opened. The calendar on the wall indicates December 1935. Two burly NKVD guards board the train and escort Trump off of it
In the distance, all the structures of a busy coal mine are visible. Stalin says "I am Boss here, NOBODY can fire me!" Trump is handed a shovel and told to get busy in the mine. Coal is Energy from Hell, and Trump gets to produce it!

I've never worked with platinum so I don't know its hardness, I know it mostly as a catalyst in such things as catalytic converters and model engine glow plugs. Glow plug filaments are quite brittle and easily broken though the metal can be bent

Devices not used directly for communication should be isolated from the network and once running a known usable snapshot of their firmware should never be updated again. This includes printers, cameras, cars, basically all consumer hardware except desktop and laptop computers, phones, and internet radio and TV boxes. The latter two also need to have the ability to run in radio mode only with no outbound anything but light and sound, and no updates unless new capabiity is needed.
Devices that are networked and must be kept up with security updates should only run open source operating systems that have the potential for audit by mutually opposing parties.

strengthen its “Know-Your-Customer” (KYC) rules for voice service providers. By screening new
and renewing customers, originating voice service providers are in the best position to prevent
scammers and other bad actors from flooding telecommunications networks with illegal calls.
Stopping illegal calls is the FCC’s top consumer protection priority, and the agency is taking a
holistic approach by attacking them at every point in their lifecycle. This includes stopping illegal
calls before they enter the phone network, requiring providers to block unwanted or illegal calls, and
giving consumers more information about the calls they receive.
In today’s Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the FCC is seeking comment on clearer, more
rigorous customer verification standards. Potential measures include new requirements for
providers to verify customer identities—including name, address, government ID, and alternative
phone numbers—before enabling service.
Commission rules already require originating providers to take “affirmative, effective” measures to
“know its customers,” and ensure that its services are not used to originate illegal call traffic. Yet
some providers are not doing enough, resulting in more illegal calls that defraud Americans and
making it difficult to hold the criminals making these call accountable.
The Commission also seeks comment on how to assess and enforce violations of the KYC rules
based on the number of illegal calls placed to ensure that penalties are in line with the harm caused
by callers. The Commission also asks how enhancing KYC requirements can prevent or deter other

Phone privacy WARNING: Supposedly to control telemarketing calls, the FCC is considering requiring ID, a verified address, a prior phone number, and a police background check to get a phone number.
Hopefully the 3ed party reseller prepaid vendors who do not require ID would respond by selling data-only plans and setting them up not to use SMS and thus not to require a phone number at all.
Signal could then respond to this by allowing new accounts to be activated without a phone number. A phone number is needed to make voice calls. It is not needed to use Signal except at setup at this time and there are other encrypted messenger systems that don't use phone numbers at all. The web doesn't need a phone number for sites not demanding any form of verification or not using a login. For 15 years I used the Internet without phone service, I may well be going back to that.
If the ID requirement passes, I will probably NOT be keeping phone service unless I can get a foreign country SIM and use it in roaming mode.
Hopefully a year or two would pass before they realize making this work requires also having coffeeshops, libraries, universities, stores etc demand ID to use the wifi.
This garbage is on top of the age verification crap and Google's plans to integrate Play Integrity checking into recaptha.
The FCC needs to remember that most telemarketing alls are already illegal and do NOT originate inside the US. If they do, it would require a data link from a boiler room in another country to a business class landline here

Seeing reports that up to 1/4 of US farmers have NOT PLANTED this year, as their crops depend on unavailable fertilizer.
Now the Washington Post reports rice farmers in Asia are not planting either, as the reduced yields without fertilizer would lower their gross income below the cost of harvesting this year.
This means the global harvest of all crops except grass fed animal products this year will be greatly reduced, and global food shortages are likely.
To replace chemical fertilizers with the seemingly endless supply of manure from factory farms would require some different equipment, which in turn would have to be manufactured. None of that can be done with fertilizer suddenly disappears weeks before planting time. The lead time for any change in agriculture should be considered to be at least one full growing season.
Consider how the Spring 2020 toilet paper crisis occurred, it was a substitution issue. When workplaces closed and so many stayed home, the demand for office/commerical toilet paper plunged and the demand for home toilet paper (a different product) soared. There was no way to simply shift production in realtime given how the plants were set iup. Nobody thought to put the larger rolls of office TP on grocery store shelves, so home toilet paper supplies were quickly exhausted. Runs on toilet paper followed, and soon there was none to be found anywhere.

An "immutable" OS does not need sudo or su at all, as it is updated or repaired only as an image of the entire root filesystem.
Removing root privilage support entirely and doing all management from another OS partition in a chroot could frustrate many potential attack scenarios as well. Would not be practical for some scenarios such as writing software normally installed to the root partition though

Too uncertain a case for them to try suing, especially with the possibility of a countersuit given you notified them of the fraud. Thus the credit card issuer has very limited options when you refuse to do the heavy lifting for them.
In my case, it would be funny as hell seeing someone steal my identity, then wonder why credit card fraud earned them an "anti-terror" goon squad smashing down their door with long guns out and a no-knock warrant.

For decades, the Dems tried to take the high road while the GOP swung from the gutter and played a hardball game. Always the GOP objective was absolute power. A notable example in prior times was that "Unitary executive" crap from GW Bush.
This means the Dems had to while not seeking a dictatorship of their own fight just as tough as the would be dictators. GOP packs SCOTUS and the Dems get control? Expand the court and pack it back. This prevents the GOP from using the court as a ratchet to make their changes permanent. A SCOTUS of 100 justices is less of a problem than women being arrested for abortion.
On another note, Manchin and Sinema are as responsible as Trump is for women being arrested for abortion, and for ICE shooting people in the streets.
This is why they should have faced some hardcore party discipline. Threaten to expel them from the party, primary them, whatever it takes to reel them back in or replace them.
This problem isn't even new. When the Dems took both houses of Congress from the GOP in 2006, the first thing they should have done is dusted off Tom Delay's House rules, reimposing them this time with themselves as the party in charge. Had they done this since Reagan, Dobbs would have gone the other way, "welfare reform" would have been blocked, and ICE might not even exist.
Just as in WWII, this is about victory at any price, because defeat is incompatable with life for millions. That means when the rulebook goes in the bin for the GOP, it goes in the bin for everyone else too.

1: MOST IMPORTANT: he failed to fast-track the prosecution of Trump or bury him in GITMO where he could not access the paperwork to file for another term. Globally, a head of state gets a lot of leeway for handling a failed coup attempt. Biden stormed after the minor players with about 1,000 J6 arrests but took little effective action against the top bosses.
2: in 2021 he and the DNC failed to impose "party discipline" on Manchin and Sinema. Manchin and Sinema are as responsible as anyone for abortion being illegal in half the US. They are also responsible for the wave of anti-LGBTQ hate that followed Dobbs within weeks.
Manchin and Sinema could have been threatened with primary challenges and forced to cooperate. That would have allowed killing the filibuster with the Dems in power and at a crucial strategic moment plus a one electoral cycle advantage. This in turn would have allowed counterpacking SCOTUS, which had already been packed by Trump, and forcing all nominations through.
Counterpacking SCOTUS in 2021 would have pre-empted Dobbs, and that in turn might have removed the trigger for the "grooming" hysteria and anti-trans pogroms that followed in GOP states. This in turn would have reduced GOP momentum in 2022 and beyond.
Finally, Biden let Netanyahu talk him into going all-in on genocide in Gaza, and did not put any brakes whatsoever on Israel's response to Oct 7 breakout attempt from Gaza. Gaza had been called an "open-air prison" keep in mind. This meant the Dems owned the 2023-2024 slaughter in Gaza, sending tens of millions of voters home even at risk to their own lives.
There has been a lot of hushed postmortem analysis of 2024 in which the failure of Kamala Harris to distance herself from the whole "Genocide Joe" thing is squarely blamed for her defeat.

If Isra-Hell strikes at Iran with nukes, Iran could respond by destroying all those Israeli seawater desalination plants. This is the MRF 247 power amp used with that transmitter. This basic design replaced the tube setup when lighter weight and battery operation (26 pound pack weight) was needed for portable work from the woods.
This amp gave 75-80W on a freshly charged sealed lead acid battery and could do 100+ if fed from a 13.8V supply (only available in testing).

On the other hand, I am the same height I was at 17 (possibly 16) and was lighter at 20 that at 17 due to more exercise. Not all men get a late growth spurt at all.
My heavy shoulder muscles came from having to replace cylinder head gaskets in a car I was racing nearly every week at age 20. That meant torquing every head bolt, 20 in all, in all positions to 100 foot pounds in 25 foot-pound increments.
Probably would have had the same or almost the same effect at 16 or 17, I did in fact work on engines at that age with no difficulty

To get the frequency stability needed in the FM broacsst band I basically reversed the layout of superheterodyne receivera with VFO (variable oacillator) tuning. The low oscillator in the range around 7 MHZ depending on final frequency was modulated wirh opposing ordinary diodes acting as a varacter. The high oscillator was a 3x ovwrtone crystal oscillator at 27 or 32 mhz depending on available crystals.
The high oscillator went to a tripler and the low oscillator to a buffer stage to isolate it from the mixer. Outputs of these went to the mixer, taking sum or difference depending on crystal to give at first 87.9 and later 88.1 MHZ.
A critically tuned mixer output and similar highly selective amplifier stages picked out the desired frequency and blocked the other mixer products. This in fact wad the hardest part of the design, as a bad choice of crystal and final output could put undesired mixer products too close to the intended frequency to filter out.
The common diode ring doubly balanced mixer design did not give a clean enough output. What worked was a singally balanced active mixer wirh a pair of transistors. Low oscillator in push-pull, high oscillator in parallel so the push-pull output tuned circuit would not pass much of it.
Finally came that tube driver and dual 6146B push-pull power amp in tje 1995-1996 "Generation 10" design, and in later portable rigs big VHF bipolar power transistors. The tube setup at first made a very inefficient 40-50 watts wirh 440V from a guitar amp transformer (bottoming voltage too high), then with a bit over 500V and some tank circuit work ultimately made about 100W.
The portable setups were used from the woods on battery power, wirh a 2 half waves in phase antenna pulled 80 feet up a tree wirh a halyard sent up via slingshot.This was after l ran out of fixed base locations.
All broadcasts were under the callsign "WSQT" or "the squat" on literally squatted Rf spectrum.

Existing offline computers will be impossible to control, computers that only connect to noncomplying sites not hosted in age verification areas will also be impossible to control.
Graphene and several Linux distros have already publicly refused to comply. If necessary they can move hosting out of the US to be entirely out of reach of these laws.
For me, this will likely mean a bunch of complying websites I don't use anyway (e.g Snitchbook) would not load on a connection from my machine as the age range signal would return NULL or "age not determined." Most of these are already blocked by banning them in NoScript anyway.

The former CRT compartment became the power amp compartment, the driver and solid state board on the right. The hard part was this: due to the anodizing, it was a real bear to seal up that case against RF leaks. I had to take an old TV, attach a length of twin-lead to the antenna terminals, and with the transmitter running on dummy load and the TV tuned to Channel 7 probe around the transmitter to find every harmonic leak!
In the end, all of the vented parts of the case had to be lined with aluminum window screen, and every edge of that screen had to be glued after application to keep loose wires from escaping and creating shorts.
You do NOT want your pirate radio setup to be the reason someone cannot watch football...

Why? Because the 6146B VHF capable power tube was still available common and cheap at hamfests and two were in the house from a partially disassembed ham trasmitter my father had built a half-century earlier. I didn't have a source for decent VHF power transistors until late 2006.

@nprofile…nmzt I regard it as a major battle in a low level civil war. It has been compared to the Troubles in Northern Ireland and to the Years of Lead in Italy. I've never seen so much political violence in my life save in 2020. First the Uprising, then those massive street fights with tens of thousands of invading fash after the 2020 election.
I will now speak directly from my own experience when I lived in DC.
Nov 14 2020, DC was invaded by 20,000 Trumpers with a hard core of 1,000 Proud Boys, 3%ers, and Oath Keepers as their spearhead. After their protest was over, they started assaulting random civilians. We were forced to fight them, so they had to fight us first to fight anyone else. Some of them had guns visble under their clothing, and plate body armor saved some of my friends from being stabbed.
That night, the Proud Boys tried to march on Black Lives Matter Plaza to destroy it, we launched a march of our own to intercept and block. I was exhausted and heading home when I got word and had to return. I caught up just as we intercepted the Proud Boys. A swirling fight with Proud Boys using knives and our frontline equipped with shields broke out. Afterwards, I had to escort a wounded fighter to safety. While returning, I was nearly killed taking on five Proud Boys solo as they sought to ambush me.
That's battle not protest and not supposed to happen in peacetime. What is happening now is part of the same conflict.
Federal troops invading any city (e.g National Guard in LA and DC) is not supposed to happen in peacetime. Nor is the central government's troops hunting in the street for members of disfavored social or ethnic groups.
I do not regard any of this as peace...

@nprofile…eh6y Trump has a choice: cut and run with his tail between his legs, or stay bogged down in a war he cannot win until November with gas prices soaring possibly over $10 a gallon. That is a formula for a blowout defeat of the GOP even with ICE agents at the polls, even if the SAVE (the GOP) act somehow clears the Senate, the works.
He got into this war to try and cover up his humiliating defeat in Minneapolis, only to find himself now facing an even bigger defeat.
