The new ItemSet inventory management system is done. I think I ultimately netted out ~1800 fewer lines of code, massively improved stability around a very complicated genre of interactions, and unlocked a ton of new feature possibilities.
The feature I was dreading adding 3 weeks ago is now trivial to add.
One cool thing is I can make ground-item-searching into a fully-interactive side-by-side view completely arbitrarily

During a run you're not only searching for your own gear, you're also shopping for future runs.
You can offer up items that you can't use or don't need by spending a currency earned from enemies, protecting them from being lost upon death.
Future characters can withdraw these items when starting their runs!

First pass at a system I've been working on for a while. In many classic roguelikes, equipping and unequipping takes several turns, and can be interrupted.
Now equipment changes show how many turns it will take and for cases of swapping, the "to be unequipped" gear becomes unused (greyed out) halfway through the delay.
Actors also now have a Donning Speed stat that can be affected by gear to make this faster

a single map is a set of 2D tiles. The way the larger world works is that maps can have child maps so there's a tree where each child's top-left is relative to their parent's.
For z-layers, a whole map is on one z-coordinate, relative to the parent's z-coord.
Eg: A multifloor dungeon base-floor map could have one child for each floor and then you could move the dungeon in 3D and have all the relative children still line up.
