I've had such great performance and reliability from #GarudaLinux on my MacBooks that I purchased a new battery for each of them, making them fully-functional and portable once again!
Hardcase is light and portable, and the Retina display on Wolffe is just gorgeous.
Both of these were complete dogs on #macOS under Open Core Legacy Patcher, but on Garuda Linux, they fly.

Yep. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s as easy as I hear it is. I’ll be migrating…9 containers, I suppose, since I shouldn’t need wud or dockhand anymore. Maybe 8 if I don’t need cockpit? I guess I’ll find out!

Exactly. I’m a big fan of Plasma, and it’s on all of my machines, but I have also been looking pretty hard at Niri lately. I’m not a coder, so I don’t NEED what Niri offers, but I do like the concept a lot.

I was a GNOME fan for a long time, but the ultra minimalism, reliance on 3rd party extensions that could break with each major update, and the 25% rounded corners on EVERYTHING pushed me to Plasma and I haven’t looked back.
Looking forward to the maturation of COSMIC.

Hevy is back on Linux Mint, and this time he is BORN TO THE PURPLE! (bonus points if you get the reference!)
I’ve been moving all of my old computers back to Mint. Why? Because it finds drivers and makes hardware features work OOTB that I have to manually configure or just go without on other distros. Cinnamon is less busy than KDE, and less risky than GNOME extensions. Give it a try!

Linux runs better than macOS on my old MacBooks, and old MacBooks are a FANTASTIC value compared to old PC laptops, which are usually low-spec plastic junk.

Homebrew will be your friend if you are looking for your favorite linux utilities.
I use iTerm2, but I’m not a heavy terminal user.
You would think that with Linux and macOS being cousins that they could more easily interact, or that Apple might do something similar to WSL for macOS, but no.
BUT! If your job handed you an older Intel or M1/M2 MacBook, you could always dual-boot. You can use an external SSD and leave the existing fs alone.

I like Fedora, but all of my computers are over 10 years old and don’t need bleeding edge kernels and patches. I think I’m gonna move them all over to Tuxedo OS and save Fedora for when I can afford a #Framework laptop.

The number of mainstream Debian-based #Linux disros with KDE 6 that aren't Ubuntu is remarkably small. Enter @npub1sfg…fqh4 #TuxedoOS. Even though it's optimized for their hardware, it runs well on two of my old computers - quite a bit faster than my current favorite, #Fedora based Ultramarine Linux. I'm guessing its due to Fedora's use of SELinux, but I'm no expert.
Looks like another distro hop might be coming.

KDE already has so many options that it seems like editing that menu should be one of them. I don’t know if there’s already a way to do it within the GUI, which would be great, but if I have to edit a config file, that’s fine too, but that’s about as deep as I want to go.
