I don't understand the EC here, like just use Mastodon, or pay Mastodon/fedi devs to build a "custom" (read still 100% interoperable) version. None of that requires VC funding, and Mastodon is already EU developed (last I checked Germany is in the EU).

ah, then yeah I more-or-less agree with you. if people are worried about their browser not handling password storage properly, use a proper password manager, adjust according to security/privacy concerns.
that being said, secure storage (of a certain kind) exists in the browser, and M$lop could be *much* better at practicing defensive programming.

I encrypt all passwords in keyper with per-session keys that decrypt the password on copy/reveal, and re-encrypt after. this minimizes the amount of time passwords are exposed clear-text in RAM. it is not that hard, you just have to care.
please stop apologizing for the centibillion dollar megacorp.

taking that definition, there is no democratic society (in the form of nation-states) that exists on the planet. there may be pockets of democracy in the form of worker-cooperatives, and other direct-democratic orgs on a small-to-medium scale. democracy is stamped out by global capital, whether private- or state-controlled.

the US is not, and has not been, any form of democracy since Citizens United passed. studies have been done to show that the majority of the populations opinions have close to no influence on elected representatives. the only two viable national parties both serve corporatist interests. but nice try victim blaming

yup, and when you do that in C you create memory corruption. In Rust, you get a safe panic, with a backtrace.

no, this is shitty coding from #Cloudflare. This is inside a function that returns a `Result`. They absolutely should have bubbled up the error with a `?` operator. Don't blame Rust for this fucking clown show.
