Farage has resigned. If he loses the by-election and is gone for good, Restore Britain becomes the only serious right wing party on the UK. Reform will die without its dear leader just like UKIP did.
Rupert Lowe is actually serious including in regards to Austrian economics. Trusting a politician is foolish sure, but Lowe is far from a career politician and is much more of a serious guy than snakey Farage.
Basically, if Farage loses the by-election, that changes everything and Restore's hopes of winning the next election have just increased immensely. In fact it becomes almost certain given the strong right wing sentiment in the country right now.
That gives a chance of real change away from the rapidly growing influence of globalist statism.

Addy.io is really good. They accept payment in Bitcoin (including Lightning) and Monero. They also will PGP encrypt the emails they forward to you and let you use your own domains.

If you use StartOS it's definitely worth checking out the official and community app registries. Lots of new stuff has been added including a new Nostr relay that's apparently 9x more efficient than strfry and has a "spider mode" that archives notes from people you follow (similar to Chronicle it seems like), an NSec Bunker, a Karakeep alternative that has better local LLM integration (including the ability to ask things like "what was that article I saved a week ago about XYZ?"), and an aggregator for Nostr long form notes, media, YouTube, Rumble, and RSS feeds in one.
The relay is called Wisp but unsure if it's any relation to the client. Doesn't appear to be from the GitHub page.
Speaking of which I was thinking of firing up my own Gitea instance so I can self-host my projects off my Start9 machine too.

Spark isn't an IOU like wrapped BTC. It's backed by actual Bitcoin that's been pegged in on the native Bitcoin blockchain. Very similar to Lightning itself.
Personally I'd only hold small amounts on it. But I also treat normal Lightning the exact same way. In both cases you hold BTC in an L2, backed by real BTC locked on L1, but with a different network and trust model.

Monero is honestly great, I'm a Bitcoiner but I'll admit XMR is literally the only altcoin I use and it clearly has genuine advantages for privacy. I literally used it just a few hours ago in fact.
But Lightning is so much better suited to this use case (instantly sending through a messaging app) and Bitcoin is better sound money.
Lightning provides decent privacy itself as well - not Monero level, but enough for most people since there's no public blockchain and transactions use onion routing.
And fair enough if you don't send fiat via messaging apps but a lot of normies do, so making it just as easy to send Bitcoin is seriously a big deal.

The Breez + Spark SDK isn't custodial. Spark is a sidechain that does real time submarine swaps for Lightning so the user doesn't have to deal with managing channels and liquidity, so it's not strictly speaking a "true Lightning wallet", but it's not custodial. You hold the keys.

I like keeping in contact with other plebs and I'm always trying to get friends and family into Bitcoin. Nostr DMs are so shit for the former and the latter is always a challenge.
This bridges two gaps for me personally:
1. I can chat with my fellow Bitcoiners securely and reliably
2. Since most of my friends and fam already use Signal it's a perfect way to introduce them to Bitcoin Lightning and show them how easy it is.
Number two is especially strong if I just point them to @nprofile…hf7c as well.
Literally it's "yo I can send you Bitcoin just as easily as sending fiat on other messaging apps and you can go into the real world and actually spend it."
This can seriously be so powerful for adoption. No need to tell your normie friends they have to set up a wallet and explaining how everything works. Just being able to send it on a Signal chat.
I'm seriously so psyched for this.

**WWG now has Nostr support.** It acts as a watch only wallet utilising your own node to notify you of transactions. It can also be configured to send automatic balance updates on a periodic basis.
It uses NIP-17 DMs with NIP-44 encryption and NIP-59 gift wrapping to send these notifications via Nostr.
You enter your relays as part of the config to ensure the DMs are delivered to you. WWG generates its own npub it sends its DMs from.
The watch only wallet works by checking your xpubs via your own node. The xpubs are only ever stored locally and are encrypted at rest.
More notification providers and other functionality will be added soon on an ongoing basis.

I saw the MiCA announcement, what about it made you stop using it? I haven't looked deeply into it at all I just saw the press release. It's extra regulation so I'm guessing it's more KYC?
The amount of info we have to hand over to CEXs these days is absolutely wild but at least being able to withdraw using Lightning gives me a reasonable level of privacy.
Robosats is still the GOAT imo but I tend to use KYC exchanges for convenience and small amounts to stay under the threshold for CGT.

Honestly, you can use AI to do it, just prompt it differently.
Instead of asking it to make you something, describe your idea and map out the architecture. Ask the AI if it is feasible, what stack would be best suited and why, what security considerations there are, etc.
You can do something similar if you're learning to code. Write some code yourself, iterate on it, etc and if you run into problems, instead of telling the AI to fix it, ask it what the issue is, how to debug it, what lines/blocks need changing and why, etc.
After a while you actually start picking up the knowledge. Then you can do it the lazier way and wien the output is wrong you'll see what's missing. If you're not sure, ask it "are you sure you did X like I told you to because I noticed Y?"
It's exactly like OP said, AI is a tool and it's all about how you use it. I'll also say that once you do start to pick up a programming language (I recommend Python if you're starting out, it's still my favourite today) then AI becomes very helpful if you treat it like an intern.
It will especially fuck up security unless you specifically prompt it not to. But once you learn what needs to be done to make things secure, you know how to prompt for them.
For example if you're making a website you tell the LLM to write a good CSP and make sure it's as tight as possible without breaking any functionality.
Perfect example of a valid use of AI, because writing CSPs is a massive pita but it's very good to have one.

If you installed WWG v0.1.8 using Docker Compose, please upgrade to v0.1.9 because it fixes a permissions bug that can break database writing on some configs which stops the notifications from working.
v0.1.9 also switches the build system to uv, massively improves the Docker packaging, cleans up the code, and added some CI/CD pipelines to the repo to help make sure the app is less shitty in the future.
This has gone way beyond a vibe coded app now.

Flow (open source YouTube app for Android) is really really fucking cool holy shit. You subscribe to channels you like (locally, no login) and based on what you watch It builds an algorithm for you locally on the device without Google profiling you. That's absolutely insane.
Also has SponsorBlock integration, DeArrow (replaces clickbait titles with descriptive ones), Return YouTube Dislike, no ads of course, all the YouTube Premium features, casting, shorts, etc etc...

The actual Ntfy server works, the UnifiedPush endpoint works when I test it with curl, but Amethyst is still not sending me notifications lol.
Ah well Ntfy can do all sorts of cool stuff in custom scripts, gonna give some of the native setups a go, I think it's the fact Amethyst uses UnifiedPush that makes it a bit buggy.

The current government will never get power again. After the next election we will get a right wing government. I'm really hoping for Restore. Rupert Lowe is a guy who comes across very genuine unlike Farage.
Restore is the fastest growing party in British history. Some of their policies include repealing the Online Safety Act, removing the facial recognition cameras, scrapping Digital ID, and banning CBDCs.
Rupert himself often references Heyak and advocates for slashing the size of the state.
Again this is an extremely popular party which recently won nine seats in local elections. That's every seat they stood in.
The current government does not have the support of the people. Keir Stalin has the lowest approval rating of any leader in British history.

I straight up spent five hours looking through old transactions on my self-hosted instance of Am I Exposed?
Really cool thing to run on your node if you want to learn how to privacymaxx when spending Bitcoin.
There's stuff there I wouldn't have even thought about, like specific combinations of address types and features (e.g. if RBF is enabled) being able to fingerprint a specific wallet with high accuracy.
Also shows you where some of your coins came from if they went through a known entity, e.g. darknet markets or an exchange. A surprising amount of BTC apparently flows through Reddit? I wasn't expecting that.

It builds the web of trust through looking at who you follow and who follows them.
It determines which relays to keep on the database by reliability and kicks off the unreliable ones if their score drops below 50%.
It's something that definitely needs more work done to it, but that's why I want people to test it.

Just staring at my own Mempool instance running off my own box, watching the blockchain my node is helping to run, it is very very cool.
I should run more nodes...
