I'd say both have declined, but probably for unrelated reasons. In terms of bitcoin folks- there are just way more people now, and the reasons for newbies toi be interested in bitcoin are different as well. The conversation becomes less nuanced and interesting. "woohoo lets all get rich" is a fun meme, I get it.

I think an issue is that people handle passwords in ways that you wouldn’t want to handle an Nsec. It’s an analogy that sorta works, but also can cause security nightmares for users when taken too literally. Nuance isn’t easily & widely conferred.

I guess all of this is to say: don't be afraid to dive in and get dirty setting up your own bitcoin infrastructure. It isn't super easy, but it isn't super hard either. Plus these days there is a whole spectrum of 'easier' node solutions out there if you really want (though building from source will most likely leave you feeling extra accomplished 😛).
If you haven't yet, what are you waiting for? Get your node online!

The same goes for LND, after setting up channels from the command line, I wrote a simple 'shortcuts' SSH script on my phone that would pay any lightning invoice copied to the clipboard. Worked great, until my LND node broke for other extraneous reasons 😥

Just saw this on Reddit: the latest OSX includes a copy of the bitcoin whitepaper. Just run this command in terminal to open the pdf:

I'm trying to log into nostrgram.co from a new device, via Alby. I'm receiving a message that says 'No NIP-07 extension detected', but Alby is installed and unlocked.

Yes I agree, and its a reason I find the current build-out of online ad-tech to be particularly scary: it is built to quietly identify and exploit our biases.
In the conversation around "what might an AI-driven future look like?", I think we need to carefully consider not only the dangers inherent to the AI itself, but also the dangers inherent to having an AI exist in parallel to other systems that open up potential for abuse. Because as-is, it seems like we're heading into a future of AI-driven advertising, that will likely be incredibly effective at playing our inherent biases without our knowing. "Genuine conversation" will be increasingly difficult to identify.

Just saving a copy the instance/user data. I had a fairly active account for the entire time the instance was around, it would be cool to get a copy of my account data. I used the account as a spot to post stuff for later reference from time to time, so it would be nice to still have that on hand.
Understandable if not though, I knew the potential pitfalls of living on someone else's instance. ty for hosting for all those years, in any case 🍻

I was just discussing that with a friend a night or two ago. As the digital world becomes more easily ‘forge-able’, will we further distinguish real life from it? Right now the two are somewhat messily tied together (ones irl persona, and online persona)

It’s just more data for them to utilize with the ad platforms they do control. Even if nostr takes hold as an alternative, ad-serving-businesses will still exist online.
