Official reason: "security." Real reason? Lock-in. 🔒
New requirements extend Google's gatekeeping from the Play Store to every alternative distribution channel.
This isn't about convenience. It's about who decides what runs on a device you own.

📱 On /e/OS, alternative app stores like F-Droid just work fine. But this freedom could disappear elsewhere.
Google is planning to restrict app installation outside its Play Store while many phone makers are locking bootloaders, making it harder to even try other options than Big Tech.
Act now! Tell the EU to enforce the Digital Markets Act: "Stop Google from blocking alternative app stores and free software."
