I like my Boosts from Fountain showing up on Nostr but I don't always use Fountain and sometimes open it up just to send a quick PR Boost.
Could AlbyHub send out a similar thing? I could listen in Podverse but people on Nostr could see my Boost and I could interact over there if I wanted.
Just a thought.

You can transfer out as long as you don’t live in FL or NY. ZBD is blocked there so the LNURL withdrawal fails.

The app works but it fails when connected to Alby to use in PC 2.0 apps.
I’ve been using coinos with Nostr apps just fine. There are tons of lightning apps but none of them work with PC 2.0. That’s why we can’t find a substitute for Alby because one doesn’t exist.

Coinos.io isn’t an option yet because it doesn’t work yet with keysend but @npub1glq…4zwa has been working with them on it and I have Castamatic setup with it to test.
AlbyHub just needs a usable NWC wallet for backend funding.

So with sats in the Alby wallets turning to “store credit” I’ve been telling people to move their sats elsewhere but if they move them today I guess anything that gets sent to their Alby wallet between now and then will just need moved again Jan 3rd?
This does give them time to practice moving them and not wait until the last minute but I don’t know how we reach everyone to tell them or if they will even care.

That’s a good point but I think most people listen or at least Boost on mobile based off the apps podcasters mention while reading Boostagrams.
Hey if you want to only turn your AlbyHub on when you’re listening to podcasts on your PC go for it. It’s just worth telling people about it needing to be on since Alby up until now has been an away on solution.

Only downside to running it on your main PC is that you have to leave it on 24/7.
Alby has always echoed the same philosophy we have. People are just cheap and lazy.
I love the apps StevenB, Franco, Mitch and Jason make so why wouldn’t I shoulder some of the expense and burden?
Existing listeners are being left out with this AlbyHub isn’t an option BS and it makes me BOOSTING mad. Good luck onboarding new users when the existing ones are all gone.

Zeus has a node in the phone wallet kind of like Breez that’s really cool that I’d like to see people be able to use.
Some of us asked Evan about it and he said it doesn’t have the proper keysend support but maybe this retooling can fix that in the future.

You can even run it on your desktop PC. That’s what I did before the Start9 version was released.
My test node has only one LSP channel (1 million sats for ~18k sats) that I opened, added sats to my wallet like I normally would with Alby and it works great.

You can run AlbyHub on raspi zero if you wanted.
I like the flexibility of a mini pc plus it gives you access to other apps in the Start9 or Umbrel App Store.

It’s up to Mike to decide if he wants to wait or not. 😁
He’s been using AlbyCloud and ran a node with Helipad in the past so he’s familiar with with how both options work.

Good to know. So if you want to move from AlbyCloud to AlbyHub and be able to use Helipad you basically need to shutdown your current AlbyCloud and basically start fresh with AlbyHub on Start9?
That all makes sense to me and the only drawback is having to open new LSP channels which aren’t expensive but all not cheap.
So many little gotchas but that’s to be expected with new stuff like this.

Here’s what Bumi said the migration does from AC to AH
“It zips the whole data, encrypts it and shuts down the node.
Then you can import it else where.
Important with lightning is just that the node only can run once! otherwise 🐉”

I’d install LND, Helipad, AlbyHub, setup AlbyHub and then migrate your AlbyCloud to AlbyHub on your node.
When you migrate your AlbyCloud to your node all of your channels should move with it. Bumi said it shuts down the old node and starts it back up on your new node.
StevenB will have to verify the channel thing.
StevenB also mentioned maybe sending the AlbyCloud balance to a separate wallet so they are safe during the migration.

If you go through the few day blockchain download (StevenB skipped this for science and is using the internal AlbyHub node) and then migrate your AlbyCloud you should be able to use Helipad then.
Helipad needs LND, LND needs BitcoinCore and BitcoinCore needs a few days to download the blockchain.

TLDR StevenB did super easy mode to move his AlbyCloud to his own node. Since you have AlbyCloud I’d also go with easy mode for now.
In hindsight moving from AlbyCloud to AlbyHub the way StevenB did it is probably best since you already paid for the LSP channels on AlbyCloud.

Is this Windows? If so you might need the Bonjour print server installed but that usually blocks you from accessing the nodes .local and not an apps .local

This has been a main question I’ve had too. A few people have AlbyCloud and now want to run it on their own hardware.
I’ve seen the migrate button in the UI but StevenB is the first person I know to pull the trigger.

Other machine might need the Start9 certs installed. Usually if you can reach the Start9 .local the apps are fine.
All of us run headless so something just needs fixed.

We are making a trade off in order to save people money by not buying a 2TB SSD.
Ideal you would want it and I plan on upgrading mine in the future but time is of the essence so it’s a trade off I’m willing to make to lower the barrier to entry.
Also this is my first lightning node so I didn’t want to spend $300 on it 😂

When we setup @npub1ncy…zkql with his node a few of us opened channels to him so he has spent ZERO sats to set his up. All he had to do was buy a mini PC and put in the work.
I’m sure we can find a few people to open channels to you StevenB but act fast because we only have so many sats on hand to use.

You can’t do anything until the blockchain is done. I’m running pruned btw. Start9 does it automatically if you have less than 1 TB.
@npub18jf…zfeh and myself have been working on guides for this stuff. He did a Start9 DIY node guide (https://podverse.fm/episode/SmqJlJjtj linked in my guide) and I did a guide to setup AlbyHub and use the LSPs they offer so you don’t need a ton of sats.

You guys mentioned about PC 2.0 and Nostr having the same issue. That issue is wanting to send sats to people of any amount at any time.
Your guy's thinking is similar to mine that we need ways for people to send sats to each other and we can figure out how people buy their sats later. The buying sats problem is solved right now imo. Strike, CashApp, Coinbase etc...

I've checked out different types of wallets like coinos and this is the only one I've liked so far that seems usable.
It works fine for Zaps on Nostr so the wallet works for that.

Also the tell the artists in the Boost where you heard their song is super annoying to do. Why isn’t this info being passed on? It’s in Helipad so I know it’s doable but needs to be better.
If I’m really pumped while listening I’ll do it but it takes away from my listening experience and I’m sure 99% of them the artist don’t see because they can’t.

There has been a lot of talk about TLVs but one key feature that Alby offers is email notifications when you get a Boost.
I know several artists that have them set up to read the Boosts they get.
This is something that’s been broken for a while and a great reason to probably remove the message from the payments.
Does Nostr fix this? idk but I’ve interacted with a few artists on Nostr because I could tag them in a Fountain Boost and they see it.
Just a thought while listening to B4TS.

We need both options that @npub1cwm…wcs6 and @npub1glq…4zwa are proposing to satisfy new and old users.
-Strike is great and what I use to buy sats. This is a one shot solution since it’s an exchange and wallet in one. It also requires KYC that some people just won’t do and honestly if you already buy sats somewhere else you shouldn’t have to KYC to get a wallet for a podcasting app. Which is why we need the NWC solution also.
-NWC lets me bring my own wallet and the sats I already have.

Fountain Radio and the LNAddess working in apps is two separate issues imo. Oscar even said in this original post about Fountain Radio that the wallets wouldn’t work in other apps until they retooled them.
I searched Fountain Radio in Podverse, Curiocaster and PodcastGuru and was able to listen to the radio feed just fine and advertised.
Oscar said use Fountain to interact or listen along in other apps.

Agreed it’s not super normie friendly but it’s still new but super powerful if you see the benefits of it. It’s like running a lightning node but with training wheels.
The needing a channel to be able to use it is just how the lightning network works.
Also Alby was doing all of this for us for free for years.
I’m running AlbyHub on my own lightning node and being able to use my own node with 2.0 apps is what I always wanted.

That’s a brand new feed for Fountain Radio and it works as intended in app that support live streams.
Oscar added this radio feature to Fountain and created this feed so people could listen in other apps.
