I'm sorry, I am one of those nerds.
The reason why I sometimes request the content warning is because I'm _not_ American. The constant deluge of American-Politicians-Do-Something-Awful-Again is frustrating since I can't effect the politics of another continent.
Having said that, I won't be doing that again; your post has convinced me. I'll just avoid social media and touch grass as the kids say.

Aliases are super important as a gateway drug into the terminal.
One of my first aliases was:

Stolen from some meme page. It felt really cool to make the terminal my own, as opposed to just this work tool I had to get gud at so I could do my job.

I'm new to this whole twitter-like behaviour - but it's my impression that mastodon folks are a bit hashtag shy.
Or at least I've yet to find cool and niche hashtags I should follow.
