another good episode. I’m sorry that you said the data collective ‘is dead’, but I can hear the overwork and burnout in Dave’s voice too and that should be respected. Maybe I could just prototype something off to one side with no need for energy draining discussions or trying to reach concensus? Get to a functional straw man and then pull that apart?

Also, regarding the name, It may be just a British thing but ‘Collective’ calls to mind unions and socialist systems and secret meetings and deals. But the word Co-operative has a long history in the UK at least of applying to a set of independent actors or businesses agreeing to work together, voluntarily, for their mutual benefit. But call it whatever you want to and I’m still excited by the idea.

I’ve been on a bit of a pod cleanse myself recently but this was a great episode to come back and hear. I loved the passion you brought to this episode and your idea for collecting true data. It’s always a struggle to get any reporting system to report the truth so better decisions can be made against a set of ‘Chatham House’ management types who benefit from the bullshit data and fake reports. So go for it, get this done and to hell with those guys!

this was a good chat and great to hear you talking about possible new ways to subscribe to update topics for changes in the podcast index data. I would 1000% support that. I know the Azure Message Bus and Topics and subscription model and think AEs has its equivalent, but I’d not heard of Iroh before - I’ll check it out, thanks.

hi Dave, I just wanted to check in with you.
I’ve got my data synch process running every 15 minutes as well now and have built a music catalogue my side. Thanks for your help.
I can see about 80% of the music is hosted on wavlake.
I am also seeing podcasts in the index that are listed as medium ‘music’ that aren’t - for example, c9c7bad3-4712-514e-9ebd-d1e208fa1b76.
What is the best thing to do with those kind of data issues I find, feed them back to you? Thanks.

I can get the full load process to run consistently now. Gets through it all in about 22 minutes, and I’m getting 3126 podcasts and 9851 episodes as of this morning. Thanks again.
I’ll keep working on the update process to keep the data in synch tonight.

I re ran this and found the issue. I was getting 401’s back past about a thousand records. I realised the issue was on my side - I was setting up the time to embed in the request headers but as the process ran on, eventually that time was no longer seen as valid on your side. So I’m sending every request with an updated time and now have got up to about 8K episodes loading tonight.

no I don’t think so. It was more an unrepeatable results list so Inthink I wasn’t getting it all. It was late, but I’ll run it again tonight in a structured way with a consistent subset of the requests, thanks.

Hi @npub1rcn…dw4h I’m trying to perform an initial load of data into my own database of the V4V music data. I get the 3000 or so podcast records and then have to go back individually with those podcast guids to get the episodes that go with each. I think I’m maybe getting throttled when I try that as it is a sudden spike of traffic to be sending the API. I can do it more slowly by making smaller batches of requests and spreading it out.
