I've been having trouble with voles (like big mice) in the bean patch eating my beans. It's a big problem since voles are hard to discourage and to trap. I have a lot of beans but it's still frustrating.
But yesterday while I was picking in the patch I startled (and vice versa) a big gopher snake. After I had taken a lot of deep breaths and my heart rate came down I stepped out and left it alone. "Good snake. Do your work." 🐍 👍🏻

I have been neglecting to mention that last year we bought a farm in Oregon, and this year we will move there and start our new post-tech retirement life with hay and vegetables and flowers and maybe cows. 🐄

Max went to the vet cardiologist this week. Vet reports he does indeed have significant heart disease, which would explain the terrifying fainting spells that brought us to the cardiologist in the first place.
Ironically it is probable that the steroids he was on to try to fix his gut issues were what made his heart trouble worse. ☹️
But now he has a variety of other heart drugs and blood thinners to take, and I hope that will help. He's a good kitty. 🖤

Hello I am here today to tell you that it is NOT cute tiny mandarin orange season yet. Do not be tempted to buy a big sack of cute tiny mandarin oranges yet, even though they are appearing in stores. The cute tiny mandarin oranges are deceptively cute and orange but they are actually hard and sour. 🍊

I am embarrassed to note I still have all the dried, shelled corn in a tin in the pantry and have not gotten around to grinding/processing it yet. Too many other garden hobbies take up all the time. 🙄
